I don't know which is funnier: the whole "secret plan to beat ISIS" thing, or his idea to build a literal wall on the Mexican border, or his delusion that he can get Mexico to pay for it.

remember that austrians don't believe in the emh, they believe in roundaboutness of production concealing unsustainable combinations of industrial trade - simpler moneylike assets like gold behave differently from complex foreign MNCs in the event of an austrian crisis
I didn't actually go to business school, so is the last part of that a crazy position or a sane position?
I'm slightly more engaged with what they talk about but I am not an expert
my impression is that ABCT is coherent macroeconomic way of thinking, but has straightforward problems reconciling with basic empirics
ie they really want it to be true but it just aint

Oh so you would just tell ISIS your secret plan to destroy them?! You would make a terrible president!

BC, do you do a comic strip? Because if not, you totally should.
I know that I have the artistic skill to do one at the point, as well as the like... fast..ness.., but I genuinely don't have an idea and I'm not really interested in just doing a diary one. I'm not witty enough.
I'd do one if someone else with a similar level of genuine motivation would write it, but I've never found anybody actually willing to do that when they realized what kind of work would be necessary
There's loads of people here you might be able to team up with, there's a web comic thread in Graphic Violence for this.
Unfortunately that thread seems not to be particularly active. Interesting part of the forum to poke around in though
BC you're in the general Western MA area, right? There are a bunch of local people who'd be down for team-ups as well I'm pretty sure. It's quietly a hub of aspiring webcomic people thanks to Topatoco.
I am when I'm at school. I'm in Texas otherwise. And hmm maybe! I don't even really know how to look, heh
Well when you get back to the Real True Good and Wonderful America from the Heat Domain you should take a look at local groups and Meetups and the like! TopatoCon alone is really going to heat stuff up! I'm finding that there's a great big web of people who are great resources for creative advice and help, they're just a bit dispersed. But like every third person I talk to knows someone who's making a tabletop game or an RPG book or a comic or something. Or they know a person in Boston who is.
At the very least, make the trek to Modern Myths when there's some comics-related event, the people there are super helpful and chipper.

Dollars to donuts his plan is to propose building some really shitty condos over there and somehow sucker them into paying up front and then he declares bankruptcy again and the condos never get built.

Just out of curiosity, did anybody else in college feel like their school was constantly doing something really dumb?
CU boulder
an endless fountain of facepalm in academics, athletics, administration...
I'm glad I'm not the only one, although most of the issues with A&M was athletics (JOHNNY FUCKING FOOTBALL /s) and administration. The only academic stupidity was pretty awful though; they changed engineering from "you are accepted to X department" to "you are accepted to engineering, and compete to get into any department" which they immediately reverted because it was awful for the students, admissions, the atmosphere, and every departments scholarship process.
I was at Boulder during the Hawkins era of football
which was just an embarrassment. and I'm not even a football fan. head coach brings on his son as quarterback, yeah that's not nepotism no sir
this is the school that had the Ward Churchill fiasco not long before, if you want to get into academic maybe-scandal
for every neat thing that comes out of CU there are two things that make me cringe

macroeconomic way of thinking has straightforward problems reconciling with basic empirics
news at 11
this understates the level of wrongness
e.g., one basic observation about industrial recessions is that aggregate consumption and investment co-move across the cycle - they tend to increase and decrease together.
but the core insight of ABCT is motivated by arguing for an unsustainable substitution into the wrong kinds of investment predicated on an incorrectly high rate of future growth. that is, substitution out of consumption. since this is the central mechanism driving the austrian cycle, you have to epicycle a lot to get an austrian model to spit out the exact opposite
monetarism or real business cycles can be pretty whacky but at least it's often arguments over causality and microfoundations, not "heavier objects fall faster" levels of problematic
Fun fact: Denmark is named for the "mark" that bears make outside their dens shortly before they go into hibernation. It warns other bears that this den occupied and they should find another.
in danish 'den mark' means 'that field'
but the danish name for the country is danmark
Is the most common name in your socialist hellhole Daniel Markusson?
the danish patronymics end in -sen. Names ending in -son is characteristic of the ancient enemy, the perfidious Swede
Daniel and Dan are common enough names
Daniel Markussen
I thought Danes considered Nowegians to be the most nemesis-ish
no Norwegians are like the most beloved foreigners
the rivalry with sweden is friendly and mostly joking in modern times, but Denmark and Sweden has the world record in wars fought between two countries
Norway and Denmark was in a personal union for 400 years, the period in which a lot of those wars were fought
the canonical objections to canonical RBC are that the magnitudes of these quantities don't line up. the canonical objections to canonical ABCT is that the signs on these quantities point in the wrong direction.

omg, so this girl I've been talking to on OKC totally was in my psychology class, and she was the same person I tried to hit on by talking about Sonic the hedgehog with.
She not only remembered me, she specifically remembered my name because she saw it on my final exam, had been deliberately sitting next to me the whole semester, and had been kicking herself for not trying to talk to me more!

They leave the rear-view mirror angled way downwards. Very noticeable.
You'd think they would stop when they realized there was nothing valuable in there, but no.

it's like they didn't even try.
trump would fire everything
Ring up foreign heads of state and just be like "Hello, Angela? You're fire"
Ring up the army "Fire all the guns!"
Ring up all the fire departments and then be thoroughly confused prompting the worst constitutional crisis the world has ever seen
this understates the level of wrongness

That's shitty. And weird. Maybe they are just doing it to be assholes?
Also, I am pretty sure Geth is the main suspect.

Why break into ten cars looking for something valuable when you could break into one car ten times? It's brilliant in its simplicity.
There is uh apparently no succinct name for this day.

You look a little less Trumpy than earlier.
I'd watch Trump suck a dick on national television if it meant I never had to see or hear about him again.
