I also was legitimately gobsmacked by a network engineer who refuses to pull cable.
That's like... at least a third of the job, man.
dubstepfuck
err, not really.
In most places I've worked pulling cable is facilities' job.
Networking manages switch/router/overall network config, sometimes manages patching (depending on their relationship to desktop), and troubleshoots issues with network stability.
that makes sense, but we don't have our facilities guys pull cable for whatever reason
they also dump the network troubleshooting onto the helpdesk and us in av
so idk what they're actually doing down there
i'm probably mostly just tired and ready to not be at work for a few days
ok yeah then they're fuckups
motherfuckers think they're safe in their silo
hammer's gonna come down one day
i hope so
they get stuck on a pedestal i'm not sure they actually deserve given the kind of company we are
new CIO is still trying to iron out some of the kinks the last guy ironed in
Apothe0sis if you clicked that button even once, that big red number would go away
But you haven't
Not even once
How
The highest it has gotten is about 2000
I wanted it snap a scrot when it was 1337 but two people posted in the GoT thread in the time it took my page to refresh and it was 1338 which was sad.
Why would I ever click the button except inevitably by accident?

Like, network management is some legitimately esoteric stuff.
But if you can't even work with desktop/helpdesk on resolving it your days are numbered.
life's a game that you're bound to lose / like using a hammer to pound in screws
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies

Ohhhh
That's what it is
I just thought Apo was super-popular
Or, more accurately, I assumed that was a reasonable number and that I just don't get a lot of notifications because I'm too cool
Still on season 1. Man is Pete ever a grade-a dirtbag.

I never start threads these days, that's a younger man's game.
They are all for bookmarks.
When I get @'d I get an email, when I want to see if any of the threads in which I am interested have been updated I click the star.
When I get a PM it is almost always for Traitor which I havent done anything with because I am a lazy shit.
But this way I can take screenshots for significant numbers.

All right, it's been years since I last played Fallout 3. In fact, I'm pretty sure I've never played it on PC, only on XBox. I do have the GOTY edition on Steam, so I'm gonna mod the fuck out of it and then grit my teeth and bear the intro section and hurry though until I get to the wasteland.

Shooting roaches with a BB gun isn't fun. Surely someone's made a mod to skip the tutorial bits.

I could see an SME middle manager being "fuck that noise, just run the cable ourselves. by which I mean yourself."
counter-intuitively, MNCs with all their bureaucracy are still generally more efficient than SMEs
Our CTO pretty much did that. Everyone who direct reported to him came in to help on the weekend with our office move because it was somewhat poorly planned and on an EXTREMELY tight timeline so me and our devops team (some of whom are VERY expensive contractors) and a couple guys from IT were literally hauling servers and building racks and running cables.
