That's basically the point of wormhole I'm pretty sure. So you can use it to engage and then escape again.
If you go a high burst build on Zeratul I think it works. If you go a less bursty (in comparison) build I find it less useful.
I know the point of wormhole, but I find that it is fairly hard to use properly and get off a full rotation before the timer is up.
I agree which is why I think it only works for like a high-ability-damage all-burst build. Basically you need to be built to dump all your damage in those first few seconds for it to be worth it imo.
Had a funny Zeratul Blink encounter last night. I was chasing Zeratul towards our gate. He blinks past the gate, very obviously expecting me to chase after him so he can Wormhole back.
So I just sit there and wait. Now he gets to choose between being eaten by towers or blinking back into my loving embrace.
Yah, as Munkus said I tend not to use blink to engage... I'm all over wormhole in theory, but the blink range just doesn't feel useful enough for engagement vs riding a horse in.
Unless a team is really bunched up it feels like I'd be wormholing out into the enemy front line, uncloaked. There are potentially positions I could move to in order to set up the wormhole but they usually either mean spending 5-10 seconds riding around a terrain element or riding through the front line cloaked, at which point I might as well just engage without the blink and be certain that I still have my escape, which can't be lost due to the timer running out because Malf rooted me or KT stunned me. I mean, in my head I can think of all kinds of situations where it would work... It just hasn't played out in matches for me.
Maw is also really hard to hit more than 1 player with...
like, it's not an instant. The enemies have a second to react.
This sometimes makes it very hard to even hit 1 enemy if it's all crazy team-fight mode and everyone's running.
The AOE area is also ridiculously small compared to void.
I take maw because I have to. It's not THAT great. It's cooldown is a bit long for my tastes.
You also can't cancel it. So if you screw up in a team fight and block your allies / help enemies escape, it REALLY sucks.
As Lucas said, they're completely different.

Does anyone else feel like non-CC hits in this game don't register strongly enough? I mean from a purely aesthetic perspective.
I notice it the most when playing Tyrael; for some reason his E especially "feels" like it doesn't hit anything. Same for his Q.
I'm not really sure how I'd address this without adding even more visual noise, tho. Maybe reserve particle effects for when stuff actually connects?
I dunno, somehow I have no trouble reading hits in LoL but in HotS it's generally less obvious/satisfying to me.
If you like the sound and "feel" of hits, rock Leoric's Q all day!
Feels real good.

You think it's bad in Heroes? I was play Huskar yesterday in dota (he's a troll guy hucking spears for his auto attack) and I kept expecting his auto attacks to make a ka-thunk because he's lobbing a damn spear at them but nope, no sound on hit at all. Weirdly disorienting. But then I got over it because Huskar has one of the most satisfying ults in any MOBA (leap on someone, deal 35% of both your and their current health [you get attack speed and magic resist as you get lower on health so this is good for you] and also slow them massively for a long time... on a 12 second CD for no mana).
My problem with wormhole is the interaction with rewind. It screws up your double blink escape because rewind doesn't reset blink until your 4 seconds for wormhole have elapsed, and it really should.
Also, blizzard REALLY needs to enable repicks for talents within 10s or something for stupid mid teamfight misclicks
I think Jo has a pretty good bonk for her flail/shield hits.
same with the crackle on jaina's frostbite
or the bloop sploosh on zag's abiliites, or the roar on maw

AH, FRESH MEAT
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Is it just that the newer heroes have better sound boards? I know tyrael has meh effects... arthas seems to be the same. Do the alpha heroes still have alpha sounds that haven't been updated and sound less impressive?

Too much potential for abuse. I just consider talenting in combat a skill to be practiced like any other.

I think they're trying to avoid situations where it becomes a strategy to pick the wrong talent and then change in order to try to trick your opponents about what talents you're taking. Or strategies where you wait to pick until a team fight where you can get double benefit by using Q with its talent, then switch talents to use W with its talent also. Also especially crazy at level 10 / 20.
Well, there are times when you just misclick period.
At least 5 friggin' seconds.
Taking the wrong ult can pretty much define your game (maw vs nydus).
whoops I accidentally picked and activated shadow assault in this teamfight and then repicked void prison so I lept onto their back line and prison-ed their front line

I'd wager that's way too complex an interaction than blizz would want to put into this game
"YEAH IMMORTAL ON THE CORE LET'S END THE GAME YEAAAAH!"
"Except let's, yknow, ignore the Core and attack other Heroes and waffle around and hit minions (????)"
Red Team Leoric could've ended the game if he just stayed at the core, but instead he decided to walk down towards the bottom area? Like, look at 1:20 or so and see where he respawns. Wut. And then around 2:00 Red Team Leoric again WALKS AWAY FROM THE CORE.
And then after that they all spill in 1 at at time to be picked off. They could've just waited and rushed in.

I find that the sound effects in most games are what add to the "feel" of weapons/abilities more than particle effects...
This is why Sonya may be my favorite hero aesthetically... give her a swing. Her slam noise/graphic and her yell are fantastic.
I want her slam and wrath effects to be my notifications on my phone
I think that probably does impact things a lot, except I've played both games with no sound quite often. It may just be that I've played far more LoL and my brain has hooked what I see and what it means more securely together.
I'll have to keep an eye out next time I play, since Jo and Hammer do seem to feel right, and Arthas to some extent. I think anything that causes an indication on an enemy works pretty well (blind, stun, push, root). Oddly, the heals, I think, feel a lot better.
I do want to try out Sonya at some point, for sure.
I agree about Tyrael. His abilities don't feel like they hit hard at all, even though they do.

I'm not going to believe anything about optional checkbox UI design in Blizzard games until they fix that.

Well, Blizzard did implement an optional check-box in SC2 about being able to click on anything but your own units.
They implemented this with basically no one asking for it.
Then they set the default to have this off. So you start the game without being able to click on ANYTHING the enemy has. No targeting, no checking hp, gas count, NOTHING.
It's ridiculous.

Blizzard has implemented a lot of UI and gameplay changes bit by bit in their games, even with shit like WoW where they would do complete 180s on their old positions for shit.
And a misclick on an ult fucks your shit up real hard.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Is this a common problem?... How many people does that happen to? Are you guys all much wilder mouse-clickers than me?
I've never misclicked a talent and if I think the talent window is going to get in the way during some craziness I just tap alt (or is it control? Whatever the talent hotkey is) and the menu disappears until I'm ready to activate it again and pick....
Maybe there could be something like if you click an ult and do not use it you could then go back to switch to the other one. But then you run into a problem with Robo-Goblin.

Or give it a 2 second activation window where it can't be used and that's your window to change it.
Literally would solve all the problems. Optional opt-in from the options menu. Choose a talent, it won't become usable until 2-3 seconds later, then it's locked in. You can change it in that 2-3 second window.

Hmmm... when they inevitably nerf flamethrower/ignite, chain bomb + backdraft would be interesting. It'd be like a mini-earthquake on a much shorter CD.
