I'm pretty sure there were pornographic games for the TRS-80 Model II and III. So, um, that's worse.
Now get off my lawn! :-)

Hey everyone remember when Spike swore in the Transformers movie? That was awesome when I was like 7.
Fun fact: That and Ultra Magnus' line ("Open damn it, open!") were put into the movie so that it would get a PG rating, meaning parents would be more likely to accompany their children to the movie so that the kids could tell them right there that they wanted such and such action figure.
Fallout was probably the first to use so much of it, its really heavy on the text though. If you mean the occasional word, I'm sure you could find lots of ancient games.
The first f-bomb I remember was either in Shadowman or Shadowman 2.
Almost positive it was the first, becuase it was on the N64...
His first line was, "I hate this shit," and it just got better from there.
Hey, you beat me to it; I was just about to mention Shadowman for the first proper swear-word I remember. I remember it especially well since my dad was in the room at the time and tutted.
Hey does anyone remember an old pc game that went by the name Die by the Sword (1998), I used to play it on my bro's 166 mhz acer desktop back when i was like 10 or something...so much swearing, i remember the first part of the game he said bastard. I remember my mom heard it while she was in the kitchen and she got so pissed at my brother...damn good times
Also that game was really violent and had awesome game mechanics...you moved the mouse and it moved the dudes arm, and you could chop in any manner you wanted and use the limbs of enemies as weapons!!! I wish i could play it now, but I bet it has aged horribly and would just destroy this awesome image i have of the game
Also it was acutual voice not text in the game
people think of 'damn' as a swear word? and considered FF7 edgy for 'swearing'? isn't the word 'damn' on, like, network TV?
They say shit on network TV. Does that mean shit isn't a cuss word either?
Damn is a curse word. Literally. It's THE curse word.
This right here is why profanity is such a retarded concept. "These sequences of sounds you can make are bad because our society has decided it so, and these ones are bad when used in conjunction with the name of a popular deity, but all these words, which carry the same meaning and are effectively the same, are OK!"

You know, I never played either of the Shadowman games. I feel like I should, since they're apparently pretty good. You think they'll ever make it to the VC?
Was Ogre Battle the one with the line, "I'm gonna fuck your face up so bad the bitches in Hell won't want you?"
And re: the PG rating on Transformers: I'd heard that too, but with a less mercenary reason for doing it: given the fact that so many beloved Transformers die in like the first ten minutes, they didn't want unaccompanied kids bawling their eyes out in the theatre. Remember, this is the age of, "DUKE'S OUT OF HIS COMA, HE'S OKAY, KIDS, HE'S NOT DEAD REALLY BUH BYE!" and the first usage of "In another dimension" I can think of: that is, Voltron.
There's been swearing in games for a long time now, but I think the first game that really broke open the floodgates and caused it to be really acceptable was FFVII.
Now if you want to get into really strange territory, I don't think I've played a game that had (by default, no mods) full frontal nudity since Daggerfall.

Ugh, video game tip-toeing through the curse words has really been pissing me off of late. Especially to play a really violent game that can barely get out a "damn". Sounds like a high school student censoring himself in an english paper or some shit.
One of the enemy unit descriptions has "The commander would be pretty pissed off if you wasted a rocket on one of these"
That's one I remember, mainly because "pissed off" seems to be muted slightly compared to the rest of the line being spoken, as if trying to hide it a bit in case it was a bit too naughty.
Duke Nukem 3D was pretty gratuitous on the swears. Came out later than some of the games mentioned thus far, but I think it only stopped short of the F word. Pretty tame by more recent standards, but at the time it seemed very extreme.
I'm with you. When I upgraded out of Duke Nukem 1 and 2 and Commander Keen into Duke Nukem 3D my precious morals and high standards of education and speech were crushed to itty bitty bits after the first time I saw a pixelated stripper dancing on a pole and turning into a pig then hearing Ol' Dukem spitting out a few choice words.

I remember getting to the "hell" level of Diablo and being kinda surprised of the nudity there. Kinda like, "this is allowed in games?!"
I remember thinking it was crazy when X said "damn" in MegaMan X (or maybe X3).
I was young and thought that was awesome because I had never really seen it before.
It was in x3. I remember that and thinking it was awesome. Some guy at my school told me there was a special code to make X say a lot of curse words such as "fuck" and "shit." He was lying. Soon after, he died from an acute asthma attack.
Well obviously it was the Capcom ninjas. You don't lie about Megaman.
As silly as this sounds, I would almost exclusively ask the question for consoles since haven't there been like underground porn games and all kinds of crazy stuff for PC since the dawn of time?
I remember that when the not so memorable Kingpin came out, it got a lot of press for its liberal use of cussing. As a matter of fact, the devs seemed to insert expletives wherever they could.
KingPin and Final Fantasy VII are the first 2 I remember really clearly using swears more than, like, once and more than just "damn". I'm sure there's an NES game or something that has damn or shit like once through the whole game, but I remember thinking "oh wow, swearing is allowed in games now" with FF7.
I'm playing The Godfather for the XBOX right now and it seems like there's quadruple the swearing in it versus the movie. It's like the script writer looked at the Godfather DVD for inspiration but got bored halfway through and swapped in some Sopranos DVDs instead. Damn, Sonny Corleone, why you gotta have such a filthy mouth?
The first game that shocked me with cursing was BloodRayne. Halfway through the first level something crazy happens and the heroine says, "What the fuck?"
And then Max Payne 2 drops the f-bomb every two minutes. But I learned to revel in it.
I remember Kingpin my first year in college, and my friends and I all chuckled when the intro played and all the swear words started to come out of my Soundblaster Live! Then we blew someone's head off with the shotgun and we devolved into cavemen at the sheer awesomeness of it.
Then we had Soldier of Fortune a couple of months later, I believe.

that link has got more on the game...i really liked the game

But I suppose that's more of a D&D topic...
You know, I never played either of the Shadowman games. I feel like I should, since they're apparently pretty good. You think they'll ever make it to the VC?
Well actually, it's from the tv show Mork and Mindy...
That half-dude who floated around in the saucer was great! His dialog was enhanced twenty times over thanks to his non-stop swears. Crude dude.
Well actually, it's from the tv show Happy Days which Mork and Mindy spun off from...
And who can forget the two goons in the jail cell in Max Payne 2. You'd have to be made of stone not to find it funny. "Dat's fucked up!"

Longest journey had cock and balls. yup.
- The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (2017, colorized)
Not just cock and balls either.
Blue cock and balls.
Oh well that makes all the difference in the world. I'd better go get a copy of The Longest Journey then.
- The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (2017, colorized)
The genitalia is merely an added perk. the rest of the game is awesome despite the nudity
Could there be a Manhunt, etc. on a mainstream console in the US without a ratings system? Prob. not.
Would assume the swearing would also go up, T for a damn M for a fuck. etc.
I remember that! In the sewers where you're looking for "ingredients" for the cooking contest! Wow, that's obscure.
But once I played FF8 I thought the part when Seifer calls Zell a Bastard was pretty nifty.

I wonder if he ever got more Gum.
As for the first, Rise of the Dragon stands out in my memory pretty well.
sigged olol
Wow, I do not remember that word from either of those shows..

I wish I could unremember Custer's Revenge.
