Pre PaxAus Meet up

A few of us met for a Pinny meet up a month or so ago and it was suggested that a catch up just before PAX AUS might be a good idea.

We could do a dinner Thu night and hopefully anyone flying in for Pax could also make it, perhaps at a Pub or a restaurant near the venue?
I hear they have a some kind of community gaming night before East. No idea if we could find somewhere with the space to pull something like that off, but I am open to suggestions.

Who wants in?

I am shocking at planning stuff like this so any and all help is appreciated.

South Wharf sounds like a good idea, its right next PAX, so anyone flying in should be nearby.

Then depending we could always go on to an an escape room. Are there any escape rooms near by?

id be very interested, but it all depends on the time and place for me, im staying out roughly 20 to 30 mins away from PAX at my grandparents house, and there will always be a +1 with me

I have no preference. I get in at 4:30 + travel time from airport, so me and my bro should be good to go at 7:30.

Planning on staying at the Hilton, so we'll be close enough.

Looks like I might be in Melbourne for the week leading up to PAX, woo!
I'll be the costume geek hanging out at ACMI and getting kicked out for trying to touch all the David Bowie and Orry-Kelly costumes, haha! :P

7:30 dinner works for me, although if there's anyone who wants to meet up a little earlier, odds are I'll have plenty of time to kill ^^

Yes that Bowie exhibition finishes that week I think, my wife wasn't so keen but we'll be going anyway (first CD I ever bought Bowie compilation)

Yussss! Let me know if you decided to go the weekend before PAX, I'll be in town because my partner is going to Ruxcon so we're spending the whole week pre-pax in Melbourne ^^
Otherwise he'll just have to suffer me dragging him around during the week sometime :P

Sounds good! I had trouble getting a table a week out last year at a few places, so 2 weeks out for the booking as you suggest sounds good, maybe make that the shutoff though and gauge interest the week prior to that?

Organised my accomodation, I'm staying at Urban Central again. Rooms are $39 for a dorm, four share, about a 5 minute walk from the convention centre. Heading down Wednesday. They said that the weekend is shaping up to be busy (they were full weeks before the show last year), so if you're looking for somewhere to crash nearby thats cheap, you could do worse. But even if not there - you really should be looking at your accommodation about now.
