Goals and expectations are important for long term happiness, but as I intimated and Shivahn outright said, basing those goals off of comparisons to other people (rather than goals which are wholly about you) are the road to self-loathing. There's a reason all the old religions and such tell you that envy is a sin. That shit will poison your whole life.
