Yo @SoundsPlush. Started up Her Story last Friday after work and have been paying it on bus rides home during the week, wrapped it up (?) this morning. Enjoyed the hell out of it, it really drew me in. Some things.
So first off I really liked the way it set up and paced the reveals. When I punched in twins on a guess and got a bunch of hits it was a very satisfying moment. Same with tapping. And it fed me juicy stuff at a pretty perfect clip to keep me extremely curious about what I'd be able to uncover next. I felt like I was pretty thorough going through it but the ending gave me pause and I ended up answering no when asked if I understood why my mother did what she done. Because I was thinking if I'm Sarah then Eve would be my mom and my read is it's Hannah that killed Simon so what the hell did Eve do? After the credits rolled I went back in and did the admin_random thing it mentions at the end but most of what's new that popped up was very short and more like flavor than adding substantially to the story. I did run across one clip though where she says "my sister is gone forever" which makes me think it's possible Eve killed Hannah although that would have to be post funeral and most of the investigation. It's just now occurring to me that I should check some time stamps. :P
Anyway, very neat game which I'll probably try to brute force using that tool to uncover a bit more still. Thanks again!
And since I'm way too content to snipe in short comments during smoke breaks at work and don't do this sort of thing nearly as often as I should, some other stuff I've played recently thanks to you generous folks.
@Antoshka I think I mentioned being stoked about finding that Xenonauts would run well on my tablet. I did put in a good few hours with it there and really liked what I played but ultimately decided I needed longer sessions at a time with that one so it's waiting until I can dedicate a good chunk of time to it on the home pc. Very cool though and reading through the let's play here has me looking to get back to it soon. So another thank you to you.
@CorriganX I played The Moon Silver on my train ride home from Oakland the weekend before we did that L4D2 FNG. Meant to mention it to you then but between never playing the game before, not being great with kbam and looking over at the teamspeak thing a bunch to figure out whose voice was whose at first it got left out in the effort to keep up. It was perfect for the train ride home though and even managed to get a jump scare out of me. Definitely would have been a good one for Berry if you hadn't been the unfortunate discoverer of the gift ban but I enjoyed it and I thank you.
@akajaybay Fairie Solitaire is another one that got thrown on the tablet and played on the bus a bunch as well as being a frequent winding down game in the evenings. Played through all of the adventure mode although to be honest I stopped paying attention to the story pretty quickly. But the Fairy flying off screen after being freed and then coming back for the thank you never got old. Made me smile every time. Thanks once more.
And then there's @Karoz who I'm pretty sure is aware that between Shadowrun and ARK he's managed to consume the vast majority of my gaming time for several months now. But I still gotta mention it. I think I've got a decent idea hatching now about taking care of you :P Also I'm hoping to get back to catching your Dark Souls stream soon. Been spending a lot of time at my parents on Saturdays helping out with stuff, pops had surgery on both knees a bit back. But I think they're good for a while now, gutters are clean, mulch has been spread, a new pc has been built, and Christmas lights are up on the house. And we survived Thanksgiving.
There's a bunch more of you if I were to go further back. Like, I'm pretty much at the point where if you see me playing a game it's like a 95% chance it's something someone here gave me. So yeah, the often done such an awesome community comment done by me this time. Rah rah! :P It's very much true every time though. Stay awesome folks.
Oh, and @Ed Gruberman. Depending on what game folks settle on I'm available for FNG tonight. Please don't worry about shaping any plans around me though either, I'm totally addicted to ARK right now and will be more than content to spend my whole evening playing that too.
My current FNG thoughts for tonight are Space Marine, Rocket League or Hawken.
Space Marine can go up to 4 people in horde mode. I've only played it once but it was pretty awesome and would be better with more people. (I'd really like to try this one again)
Hawken is F2P so anyone can join in.
Rocket League was a ton of fun last time and probably the most versatile in terms of number of players (other than Serious Sam 3 'cuz damn that game is convenient when trying to find something a whole bunch of people can play).
Anyone have any other thoughts? Also, are we going to just use Teamspeak for voice chat? (you can don't have to join into the voice chat or you can even just turn it on without a mic and listen in)

I have no preference on the game, they all sound good to me. I think Hawken is the only one I need to download and I'll do that now. Yeah Teamspeak is best for me. Last deciding factor is starting time, I'll be able to make it regardless but I want to be ready beforehand.

I have Raidcall & Skype but I can get Teamspeak or Ventrilo if those are preferred. It doesn't matter to me. I have a headset/mic, so I can do voice chat. No idea what Hawken is but I'll look it up.
I'm pretty sure the fall sales never had dailies - that's the winter sale/summer sales.
Now THAT will feel weird without dailies. but this is just one of the "extended over the weekend" sales.
Something tells me they'll see a dip in sales numbers (not that we get any, though) if there are no flash/dailies. Something in the brain just screams at you to get a deal that only lasts for 6/12/24 hours.

There was a fall sale several years back, the one where you could buy bundles of things like ten copies of Half-Life 2? I'm pretty sure that one had dailys.
I just miss the meta event. It's actually a bit of a relief to be able to stew on a choice for a little bit.
Honestly, the rotating sales had a sense of urgency to them. For this sale, I'm looking to see what I want between now and December 22. I know everything is just going to be on sale again then, so what's the rush?

The fall sale doesn't usually have a meta event. Occasionally they'll roll out a feature during the sale, like the glorious Fall sale when they introduced bundles. They usually save the events for the Winter and Summer sales.

Yeah, Nov. of 2010. I 98% sure there was a literal 10 pack of Just Cause 2. Crazy fun. That was the sale that started this thread down its path to its giftageddon pathology tendencies.
OK, so I got Darkest Dungeon (awesome) and Skyrim deluxe (own it on 360 but no DLC). What else is good? Looking more for something along the lines of Darkest Dungeon, or at least a smaller scale game. Hacknet caught my eye. @Drake I see you own it but didn't notice a review. Any thoughts?
DrakeEdgelord TrashBelow the ecliptic plane.Registered Userregular
Hacknet is pretty neat, but I haven't played it nearly enough for a review. I do think if you like what you see on the store page then the game is a good bet. Especially if you enjoyed Uplink.
If there is some Hawken going on tonight I would be up for some stomping around (I haven't played in forever). I won't be home until around 6:30 Pacific though.

Wayback machine isn't proving terribly useful, but it looks like September 2007 was when the store branched out from just Valve properties and they had a sale then, and Holiday Sale started in 2008, and summer sales started 2009. 2010 introduced Thanksgiving/Fall Sale (and Halloween Sale), and I presume 2011 introduced the Spring one (which was dropped this year, right?). 2011 was the coal metagame, and the first "real" metagame. That being said, it doesn't look like there was dailies in last year's Thanksgiving sale. Last year was the "Exploration Sale" which they just used to highlight discovery queue/etc - different featured stuff, but no dailies. 2013 had 'em though.
I'll reinstall Hawken but I have no guarantees I'll be around. I was up all night until 6:30 this morning out going my good duties as a consumer. I took a nap, but I'm not sure when my body and mind will shut down for the night
Graphics Card ordered!!! I was moaning about Black Friday becoming a thing over the past few years here in the UK, but I have to admit I was eating my words when I sorted some Christmas presents out cheap, and snagged a GTX 750 Ti (I know, I know, it's hardly a beast mode card, but it's a massive jump up for me with my GT 9600, and I'm on a strict budget). Can't wait to get it installed and finally start on Fallout 4!!
I'm eyeing up Black Flag, is it worth getting the season pass as well?

I think so, but then again I'm hardly an impartial observer on that front; I get all twitchy thinking about that one thing I technically could get, if I only had the DLCs. Especially with open world games.
As I understand it, Freedom Cry's good? Haven't gotten there yet.

Well it sure sounds like Hawken is a front runner though I have never played it. Usual start time is 9EST though. Usually people just hop on the PA team speak server and pick a game room around that time. Join when you can, etc.

I'm right there with you. It's part of the reason I only really pick up AAA games now after the GOTY or similar edition is out.
Edit: It seems the season pass doesn't actually give all of the DLC? Ugh, Ubisoft, why you do me like that?

I pulled the trigger on GTAV PC at 35 bucks. I have it on PS4, but I want to dabble in the mod and online scenes on the PC. Also I'm a crazy person, so there's that.

Make one post in the Steam thread, and get gift bombed. I swear.
Too many classholes in this thread. Not sure who that is, can't trace the name to a PA forum name, but know that I know, that you know, that I know...that you know.
First alien base invaded in XCOM, was doing pretty good until I learned that Chryssalids could jump. Took the slingshot character and my heavy, just an assault and a sniper to handle them and the surviving chryss...
Man, I haven't Hawken'd in forever. One of the few online shooters I was actually pretty good at. No idea what time I'm getting home so I dunno if I'll be able to make it tonight, but I should definitely try to get back into it.
