I thought the second case was good. There's a good sense of "How the heck is Nick going to get out of this one?". While the big problem with the third case to me was that it's obvious from moment one that something very fishy is going on and it makes it feel very toothless.
I really only thought she was bad in the third case but I don't really hold it against her because every prosecutor has at least one case where they don't have much to work with and are forced to go "but where's your proof?!" over and over.

I beat the Circus case! On to the next. I always forget how much I love the music in these games. Just the best shit.

As to who is the greater villain? Major AA and AJ spoilers:
It's clearly Von Karma.
Dude killed his rival for a slight, framed an innocent man, convicted the innocent man, raised his rival's son to become a twisted shade of what his rival would have wanted, and then, as the child entered into adulthood, he entered into a giant scheme to finally exact his final revenge for that slight by killing the child that he had raised. Because said child had dared to accidentally wound him (which also gave him his opportunity to kill his rival in the first place).
That is nearly 18 years of bitter hatred and plotting revenge because he got a reprimand.
Compared to Kristoph framing Phoenix and trying to cover up his tracks, none of that even fucking compares. Maybe if Kristoph took Trucy in and taught her to hate magic and everything it stood for, then they'd be on equal grounds...
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

I like the music for when shit takes off late in the trial, but most of the themes while you're just investigating stuff range from middling to irritating
The ultimate Phoenix Wright villain is Wendy Oldbag.

The real villain is the inability to speed up dialogue when you're playing through the first time.

Hmm I think I like it all. However the trial music was the stuff I heard most recently, and that's definitely the best of it.
There is a Ghost Trick cameo in AA:I2. It's pretty great.
We'll get back there someday.

But I haven't touched an Ace Attorney game in like six years
People tell me Dual Destinies is good! I'm sure it is! But I just don't know, man
(also they had better localize the fuck out of that anime because if it's not set in """Los Angeles""" I will just not watch it)
Dual Destinies is my second-favourite after AAI, and those two may switch places on a whim. It has its flaws, but I love the Phoenix/Apollo/Athena dynamic.

Athena graduated law school and passed the bar at 17, which is basically impossible at even the most absurdly incoherent districts in the States.
Even in magical bullshit America there is only so much I can stand, and teenage attorneys are not one of them!

Yeah but they've already established in the ace attorney world that Germany gives out a license to practice law to any toddler that wanders into the bar exam and she studied abroad to take advantage of that

Usual Suspects-style sequence of clues from every game in the series coming together
"If something stinks... it's probably the Butz."
So I have to give the Circus Case credit for a good client.

I would say that she is well-executed
in that she is meant to be really annoying and unpleasant and unlikable and is definitely all of those things like whoa

I remember a bit of the high points but not much else
Meanwhile apparently I've been playing Hotel Dusk every year or so since 2007, so I uh, probably have that plot on lock
....I guess I could also play that copy of Ghost Trick that has been guilting me for a few months

Counter argument: Athena's hair is good.
Yeah it's a goofy anime stylization of slicked back hair
Athena just looks like she had two separate stylists styling each side of her head

It is hardly egregious.
