Yeah waiting for them to actually limp away is the best tip. Most monsters will also make an audible moan while doing so to distinguish this from a "man I'm fucking tired" limp, although bugs and such will not.

The new heat gauge on the Gunlances is awesome. I love how it turns Wyvern's Fire into the Climax of a much longer combo by 'locking' your current damage multiplier.

It actually lowers the gauge before locking it, depending on artillery level. Which isn't so great, since going into the yellow means a damage penalty.
I gunlanced my way through 4U with my first character, but I'm not that sure about GL in G. They're really pushing physical attacks now, thought bushido into full bursts does look attractive. One big buff I've heard about is that you can no cancel full bursts into evades, which is something I really, really wanted in 4U. But they've effectively killed wide shot, which wasn't that popular to begin with.
I do. Like, actually. I need Divines and stuff to hone with. :pop:

Man there are only so many 130+ Daora fights I can stand in a given session. I did get 4 divines though, which is really the only thing I need from the game at this point.

Yeah after you left we ran another. After that you came back but it was time for me to eat/watch NXT.
The good news is that there is probably(?) no humanly possible way for you to hit that mark before MHGen finally arrives. But for a significant portion of 2015 MH4U was literally my second job in terms of hours per week. That eventually tapered off to "just" 100 hours/month before other games finally interrupted the flow.
I only made 450 or so but it was a rough year and I had some issues with the design of mh4u end game.
I expect double it with Generations.
So far my only reservation with Gen is that without G-rank gear it will be hard to get my hands on Awaken, which is something I tend to need for my para duals.
I am actually OK with that. There are some pretty cool combo skills on the flagship armors as well as some neat combos. It'll mean far less one suit everyone uses and more tailored sets for each player which is great.
I will most likely not meowster hunt much. I have a Lance to adept style in the monsters face.

Yeah, I know. And the only serious (read: non-puppet) para duals are half Thunder.
Upsetting, but not the end of the world. I'm not above smacking monsters in the face with stuffed cats, either.
Going to make my living meowster hunting and see how far I can get before I fall to the siren song of the switch axe again.
