"Ohhh look at me! I'm Merril and I'm from Minnesouda!"
I've played DA2 umpteen times and unlocked every story for Merril and I just find her pathetic and grating
I don't want to! I want to be on the bandwagon! But no.
Also how can you say no to Isabella? I'm still in love with Isabella. I fucking fight you over Isabella.
I'LL FUCKING FIGHT YOU ALL
I would fight you in order to claim Isabella as mine
But I know she'd be totally down to date both of us so I don't have to
(also the Sera romance is so good; I really enjoyed it)
I am so gay for Sera and Isabella it's not even funny
Except Sera said a transphobic thing about Krem, that wasn't cool -_-
Wait did she? I don't remember, but Krem is obviously the best.
But also I let Sera get away with a lot of shitty stuff/opinions, but then again I also kept mage-ing it up when that obviously made her super-sad.

All the DA talk is making me think about jotting down more notes for tabletop rpgs I will never actually run. A campaign where the party are the ones executing all of the the Inquisition's table-missions...
BioWare romance dudes tend to do this thing where they start doing "soft-voice" and I don't like it
Sera is just a delight
...I have killed people to please her...
The Solas romance is still my favorite bioware romance they've ever done, and really one of the few I've even liked.
Mostly because it actually feels like part of the story, not just a bonus series of cutscenes stapled onto the main storyline. It really adds another dimension onto the events of the story, like where you're named as leader of the inquisition, but you and Solas have already had a talk about how it's necessary for you to gain control of the inquisition lest the humans use it to launch another campaign against the elves.
Also instead of just asking questions and agreeing with him over and over, my inquisitor spent most of the time angrily arguing with him, and that both characters care so much over what they're arguing about helps really explain why they would end up together, even as they are constantly butting heads. It was a nice bit of writing.
A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

Sera can be a tough romance, she's got some bad opinions that it's hard to be on her side of
But she's so much fun.
I just got the GOTY and I'm building a group around Sera, Bull, Vivienne, and Blackwall and let me tell you that is a fun damn group of bastards

I don't think Sera said anything transphobic about Krem (or anything about Krem)?
The brouhaha I remember was if you take Sera along to the big Orlesian ball she'll point out various nobles and their foibles, and one of the quick ones she says is "He's a she", or something like that.
Which in context just seemed to be obviously a case of a noble secretly adopting a different identity, which is a quite common trope in the sort of genre that Orlais seems to live in, but was interpreted by portions of the internet as obviously a case of Sera refusing to acknowledge the gender of an unnamed trans noble.

Cole was really cool about Krem, so I guess it's okay? I dunno.

I like the idea if Sera and Krem ever had a beef somehow both would wind up dead in their beds with their throats cut and no one would have any idea how or who did it
I only played once and probably won't replay since it was such a long game. I pretty much only waled around with Dorian, Bull, and Sera the whole game. Obviously we were pro-mage and it was a very fun party with great banter and great bros.
Is there some sort of video card diagnostic I can run? I keep having weird GPU issues. My PC has two monitors. If I leave it alone, sometimes when I come back to it only the secondary monitor seems to work. Turn off the main then turn it back on, MAGICALLY detects it again. Just now both of my monitors said no signal after being out of the apartment all day and using it this morning. Restarting the PC fixed it very quickly, but this seems like a bad thing.
But then she'll also just be like, aggressively ignorant, and she's never really given a chance to grow out of it or reconsider anything. To go through her romance you basically just have to agree to enable all of her worst qualities and go along with it, even while in every other plot dialogue you're always going to take your duties very seriously.
There's a bunch of things that are really interesting ideas, like how she's totally a self-loathing elf, or those weird hints you get that there's something up with her and like her skill with a bow and stuff, or her religious views, but none of them are ever really explored or challenged.
