Guys have you seen science, though?

CRISPR is an immensely exciting prospect for me, because it has the serious potential to be a real solution for genetic diseases:

I feel like a zoo is one of those places where it's seen as weird if you go alone as a man.

    Also amusement parks and build-a-bear.

Which sucks because those are all places I might like to go.

Doing things by myself is a 50/50 proposition for me. Sometimes I feel better even if I don't really enjoy myself, because I went and did something

Sometimes I get there and feel really really alone

There is a "zoo" nearby that is nothing but big cats.

    I've never been.

Once in college they brought a "baby" tiger (180 pound baby) down for a program and the guy in charge was a real jerk to everybody so I've kind of avoided that place.

There used to be a feed store in town that kept a full grown tiger in the back and a couple of iguanas and shit like that but the guy got busted for having a bunch of exotic animals at his home and lost all his licenses.

It's very interesting / troubling to me from an ethics standard.

Like there is plenty of outright black space that pretty much everyone would identify as 'genetic disease' and we would be better off getting rid of it if possible.

But it pretty quickly gets into grey territory, especially when it comes to cognitive function. I mean, if we're going to be tweaking the dials for how kids develop, no doubt people are going to start asking why we don't just turn the dial a certain way for certain things.

I've been digging through recent literature and at this point I haven't seen anything that hasn't declared CRISPR out-right revolutionary.

It's almost without a doubt that when I go back into science, this is what I'll be working with.

    It's p mundane.

Did you have to do linear/matrix algebra?

I hit the math wall on that class.

Or I had a horrible teacher...

yep. at first i struggled but then i learned it p good, despite not really knowing what i was actually doing to these matrices or what they represented. a lot of times i can learn how to do something mathematical or physics-y without actually understanding it, which is great for school, but not, like, life

    It wasn't fun.

I enjoyed Calc I and Calc II because I felt they had applicable functions in the real world. Physics was a lot of fun, once you get how the formula stacking goes.

Linear/Matrix Algebra was a fucking nightmare.

(I'm fine with a useless, shallow understanding if you want to help me pass integral calculus beginning a week from tomorrow :4)
