Can we stop making jokes about Trump for awhile?

Can we just gaze into the abyss and feel the unending dread creep up from our toes to our heads?

Can we feel death creeping up on us day by day unceasingly?

there's a version of reality out there where Ivanka and DT Jr. form a presidential dynasty, like the Bushes and in place of the Clintons.

(personally i'd rather have Hillary Clinton and then Chelsea later if it came down to "dynasties".)

I hope Michelle Obama is the next two-term POTUS after Hillary's 8 years. Then the elder Obama daughter can take it from there.

    We in now, people

But I been over here the whole time, breathing into this paper bag

I think calling them 'his boys' undermines the idea that white-supremacy was already gaining plenty of a traction all on its own

Are you referring to his sons or to the white male demographic that votes for him so overwhelmingly

Try to refrain from the "yes" response if you can; I assumed you meant his sons but now I'm not sure

I'd vote for Ivanka before Donald (senior or junior), actually.

McCain was a little bit scary because Palin but I never felt like he'd rip the country apart, more that we'd just have a few more years of shitty policy.

I am terrified of trump having a military at his disposal.

The most demoralizing thing about this election is that win or lose, trump almost certainly isn't going away

He will continue to soak up any attention he can, and news networks will be happy to oblige

eh people said that in 2008 and Palin is pretty much done

I dunno if that's a fair comparison. Palin basically didn't exist to most people until the 2008 elections. She fell back to relative obscurity, true, but only because that's where she came from. Trump's been around and sucking up media attention for decades prior to this, and I'm not sure losing the election will entirely change that.

He's bet his brand pretty heavily on a win, I think he's going to lose a lot if Hilary wins. The only people who like him now are schlubs, and that isn't the market he once. He'll be giving talks at NASCAR and getting his hair tousled by rodeo clowns.

He'll just say it was rigged

He can say it from Prison because if he loses I suspect the DoJ is going to end him

I have a podcast now. It's about video games and anime!Find it here.

Well volunteer options might possibly be limited by that but money that goes to the campaign is spent everywhere it isn't just set aside for your state or anything

Yeah, in that case definitely yeah

The white supremacist movement in the US isn't going to die down easily after being whipped into a froth like this; appealing to them might even be the new Southern Strategy if the GOP is willing to go that far in its reach for appeal

Also Trump's sons will fade into dust

i feel the same way, and the worst part is, i know i've been privileged enough to not outright fear a McCain or Romney presidency back in 2008 or 2012. a hell of a lot of horrible things would have happened to a lot of good people had the GOP won those.

either way, i am terrified of how tonight is going to go.

Trump will be around after the election if he loses.

He's a weird sort of celebrity that's been around for a long time.

If he loses, he'll call it rigged as well as point to the biased media.

From there, I could see he try to spin it into a cable or radio "news" venture.

Palin never really gave a fuck about governing or working or whatever. She wanted money. She made her money, and is content to basically be retired I think.

I'm actually not sure why I'm insisting on watching the debate. It's already stressing me out, and nothing that happens there will change my vote. I guess I can go with the 'more informed' argument, but man, that's like staring into the abyss to grok its nature.

Frauke Petry last proposal was to reintroduce some nazi vocabulary into the mainstream. She's the co-head of the AFD, Germany's totally not racist right wing anti immigration party that'S been much too succesful lately.

In classic fascist rhetoric, the enemy "other" is simultaneously powerful and threatening while also being weak and spineless, which means the reverse is also true.

Right wing ideologies alway spring from insecurity and fear of difference leading to a loss of control.

There's been too much success in the European right recently

    too much

The whole european project feels like it's becoming cold and hard and mean, tbh. Brexit, the Austrian far-right successes, the whole Greek bail-out that they got defeated on, basically

I used to think that Europe could perhaps be the politics of the future, going to the left, social democracies, moving forward as a closer union but no

Makes me very sad, now I think about it. I went on a school trip to Brussels as a teenager to visit the EU offices there and it made me quite inspired to support the EU project, and recently it's just felt so shaky. I wish the UK was not so backward and insular, and that as nations we could draw closer rather than pushing apart, and being so anti-immigrant and anti-foreigner.

Melty Blood is an anime fighting game thing.
