PPP's post debate survey, sponsored by VoteVets Action Fund, finds that voters nationally think Hillary Clinton defeated Donald Trump in the debate, 51/40.
Perhaps most important for Clinton is that among young voters, who she has under performed with, 63% think she won the debate to only 24% for Trump. 47% of voters in that age group said the debate tonight made them more likely to vote for her, to only 10% who say it made them less likely to vote for her. For Trump with that group on the other hand, only 23% said the debate made them more likely to vote for him to 39% who said it made them less likely to.
Clinton also won the debate by particularly wide margins with women (54/36) and voters who are either African American or Latino (77/13). Among white voters the debate was basically a draw with Trump coming out ahead 47/45.

Colbert is slamming Trump btw.

I feel like the answer we've all been given to the question 'why didn't Donald Trump prepare?' is because he literally cannot. I sincerely doubt he could keep his cool for 90 minutes with one of his staffers playing at surrogate HIllary Clinton.
Can you imagine him letting someone who works for him throw out those kinds of lines?
I also don't think he can hold that many complex thoughts at once. The dude very obviously doesn't know how to plan for unexpected responses as seen by his constant returning to previously made discussion points when faced with a question he couldn't answer, or how getting confronted about the birther shit, something he had to have suspected would come up, led to a weird rambling story and pleas to call Sean Hannity.

It's not like I was keeping hard numbers on how little the media was fact checking previously but just flipping through the news right now it seems like some outlets have taken the rhetoric over the past month as a challenge and that could be very bad for Trump.

I think the guy who wrote Trump's book described him as having an lower than average attention span; it's so short that he could not get any relevant info for the book through interviewing him, and instead had to follow him around for a while to gather enough material to use.
Reading the transcript it's extra clear how Trump just cannot finish a sentence. He splits into five thoughts before he's finished one. He talks like the writing staff of Lost worldbuild
If Clinton aimed to get under Trump's skin in the first 30 minutes of the debate, the Democratic nominee appeared to succeed. Clinton often put Trump on the defensive, saying he had "rooted for" the collapse of the housing industry and had considered climate change to be a hoax. In another exchange, Clinton said, "I have a feeling that by the end of this evening I'll be blamed for everything that ever happened."
Trump interjected, "Why not?" Later on, Trump said he had a "winning temperament," prompting Clinton to respond: "Whew. OK."
Not only is it silly that $1 million is small loan to get your start in a business.
Trump owed his father and his father’s businesses about $14 million

A composed Hillary Clinton got under Donald Trump’s skin during their high-stakes showdown on Monday night, with the Republican nominee persistently interrupting Clinton as she needled him on his business record, the size of his fortune and his relationship with the truth.

His debating style is like a facist rally mixed with a Cylon Basestar Hybrid.
His inability to have any kind of introspection or admit fault on anything makes me think this is going to be the same situation in the other two debates. I really doubt he'll be able to take advice from anyone about how to not fuck up so badly again.
