I think Marisa Tomei is a bad casting choice for Aunt May, I'll stand by that opinion and I'm almost sure that it won't change anyone elses opinion but being treated like I'm specifically the weird one for this isn't going to make me change mine either.
I don't think you've explained your opinion very well and you seem to be alone with it. I still don't really see the problem.
I think Marisa Tomei is a bad casting choice for Aunt May
Maybe it would help if you explained your reasoning?
So far the only reason you've given is that she's sexy. Why do you object to the idea of Aunt May being sexy?
Is there a reason she should be? Does she need to be? Does it make sense?
Who would they have cast as Uncle Ben in this case?
John Hamm

a female role model shouldn't be attractive because that might imply she is anything other than a doting matronly figure
god forbid she have a life of her own or be suggested to be more than a one-dimensional character only present to serve as a loving mentor to our protagonist

Nobody has explained their position any better.
You said you don't think it's a good choice. Why?
My reasoning is, why not? It doesn't take away from the story and I think adds to it in many ways, a lot which Chanus just said. Why do you think it's a bad thing?

I could actually go for that.
If this was an origin story, I'd have digged that.
Instead she's a butt of a bunch of jokes specifically because of her attractiveness in the movie as opposed to being a figure, along with Uncle Ben, who helps Peter shape his moral compass.

Why would the aunt of a teenage kid be old and infirm?
That makes no sense.
I mean, maybe Uncle Ben was younger, but into older women, in which case Aunt May was actually a Cougar.

I think there is some merit to the idea that major motion pictures are perhaps not suffering from an overabundance of unsexy/elderly looking actors, especially amongst women, and that in the big picture casting more sexy people as characters who are generally not considered sexy could, perhaps, be problematic when considering societal beauty standards etc. etc.

So, forced exposition is the answer!
I love it when characters repeat things to each other that they clearly already know.

It's a woman's fault if I find her attractive, and it's up to her to resolve the issue so that I can place her back in her one-dimensional role that I had originally assigned to her upon initial contact

Hrm. I seem to only be thinking of Doctor Who actors at this point.
You're the one espousing a strong opinion on this. It's not up to us to explain "why," it's up to you to explain "why not."
