Good episode overall, minor quibble from me is that I would have ended with Arya and her wolf. The sea battle was cool, but fuck Theon. He seems to exist on the show to disappoint everyone when they need him.

I...need to re-watch these first two episodes
I watched them on my TV in the basement because it's bigger and hooked up to cable (as opposed to the upstairs TV that, while higher definition, is smaller and would be through the HBO Go app on ps4)
The end of this episode I couldn't tell what was going on at all. Multiple times throughout I commented to my ex "why is this season so fucking dark? I can't see shit", so after this episode was over I loaded up hbo go upstairs and skipped to the end of the episode and yelled "holy shit! Come here!"
Turns out the color settings on my downstairs TV are really fucking bad! The ending scene (not really spoilers)
I could only see faces and fire. The rest was dark. I thought "they couldn't have shot it this way"
which is why I loaded up on my ps4 and could actually see individual characters and their clothes
I've been trying to figure out why Jorah is still on the show and why grayscale was deemed worthy of translation to the show
Random theory:
It gets weaponized, and is how the dragons get nerfed
I don't think the ballistas are gonna be enough. I think Qyborn is gonna tap some of that Citadel knowledge, presumably through illicit channels, and infect the dragons.
And then Jorah can redeem himself by saving them,
with the help of Sam, who will finally have a reason to exist.
wolves look uncanny valley no matter what you do, its got nothing to do with expensive or cheap, its like if you tried to do a big human. It just never works, I feel like they shouldve made the direwolves completely cg maybe? I dunno, like different enough to wolves that they look like a separate creature rather than just a stretched out wolf. But I thought it was neat, even though
I didnt quite get Arya's line? Like is she saying its no longer her wolf anymore because its gone wild again, and shes changed so much herself?
I thought the battle at the end looked great? But I found it hard to muster a reason to care about it. I mean why were they sailing in such a way that they could get surprised like that? I get that its like a narrative battle so wondering about stupid strategy is pointless, but damn, that whole thing could have been avoided. Does nobody use scouts in these shows? I also knew the bad greyjoy wasnt going to die, so it took some of the suspense out of it, because he is such a recent introduction and the shows kind of needs him as a brute force bad guy. He does pull it off well, he really looks like a scary ass beserker.
Really the whole dornish subplot has been supremely pointless, I mean I enjoyed it anyway, and im not normally one to complain about dead end plots because I like the "fleshing out the world" aspect of it. But damn, Dorne is done right there.
Fighting was great though, reminded me of Assassins Creed 4. I liked Theon's reaction, you dont just get over trauma like that, he couldnt do anything. Likely the guy would have killed him easily. It would've been great to see him go out like a boss but it wouldve been far to neat for my tastes
dead now? Cos they set up that the dornish always use poisons all the time, and he got stabbed by them a bunch. So if they just forget that plot detail and it turns out thats the one time they didnt apply poison to their weapon im kinda going to be pissed. Maybe Cersei will cure him? Or zombie him too?

Well they were ambushed, so I'd believe they didn't have enough time to apply poison.

also i was saying in the debate thread, Littlefinger better get killed by a White Walker. No talking his way out of it, no chaos is a ladder, just metaphorical unsympathetic uncaring mother nature personified in icy sword form

so does Littlefinger just get to these meetings early to claim his Ominous Looks Corner or what
When I would attend our large resident hall meetings in college I would arrive early to safe-guard a seat that made me look like I was sitting above everyone else.
So... It isn't unheard of...

This is how I want my Baelish to go.
I mean it technically means he wins right? Like if you get struck by lighting do you lose the game of thrones? Or is it like a tie?

I want little finger to tell some one his entire complicated scheme on why they can't kill him and they respond with, I don't care and kill him anyway because they are just sick of his shit.

The safe bet is that Sansa is the one to kill Littlefinger.
But my hope, my dream, is the situation described above. That he's finally put in a situation where literally no machinations or manipulations or anything in his arsenal can work against the Night King.

Also, you know who Euron Greyjoy is starting to remind me of a bit?

Re: Arya
It was just a callback to the first season where Ned is showing Arya a bunch of frilly royal things and she says "that's not me". Nymeria shouldn't go home with Arya because she lives a different life now.

Nymeria has a pretty good life now as Queen of the Wolves, why ditch that to hang out with a human who once threw rocks at her?
This season, it's just one obvious thing happening after another, like a fan fiction writer's dream. I love it.
And the Sand Serpents or whoever remain awful. Mama! Mama!

It feels weird as fuck having
Nymeria show up for one scene just to peace out again.
Because the show has not made that wolf important or impactful like the book had.
Which reminds me...where the fuck is Ghost right now?
And as for Euron...
Ok so, I guess show Euron is really just book Victarion but with Euron's cocky attitude and no magic

I get why though
Show's trying to actively cut down on the number of moving parts and that's been obvious for the last season and a half
Greyjoy spoilers
would've loved to see Victarion's arc on screen though - his whole entire shit with the flame hand is about as metal as ASoIaF ever gets in a series full of metal moments

No
Why would you want the hero of the series to be killed???
Whoops, got mixed up.

Ugh
Fuck carcetti/littlefinger
