so they definitely altered the timers for heroic KJ to make the annoying focused dreadflame/exploding shadows/armageddon combo sync up far less awfully with the beam going well before the shadows come out, right?

it didnt seem to happen again quite like that one attempt but something definitely was wonky there

Sorry I had to bail so early guys, I'm just feeling like shit lately.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Is this the one that happens toward the start of phase 2? My guild will be super happy to hear about this if so

Nah, it's around the 4:45 mark. Armageddon, Erupting Reflection, and Focused Dreadflame all trigger within a few seconds of each other, and has been a real roadblock for us on some nights.

Is the timing different if we avoid the second armageddon in phase 1, for some reason?
Is the timing different if we avoid the second armageddon in phase 1, for some reason?
Hypothetically it shouldn't be; each phase has their own separate timers that are specific to entering that phase; it's why going into the 1st intermission right AFTER the 2nd armageddon sucks so much. He always casts one about 5 seconds after taking off regardless of whatever was happening right before that.
I haven't really poured over the logs to see the second-by-second damage taken, but if I had to guess, I think it's more likely that we just stopped being so bad at that particular mechanic.
I was thinking about how to position for the final phase fire orbs.
At the very least we need it to explode on the suck zone side of the boss and absolutely not on the opposite side of the boss from the suck zone where the whole giant lava pool thing will slide through everyone.
They seem to move too fast to be able to kite them in circles, it's more of a "get the tether on you and then immediately use your blink/disengage/whatever movement skills to make distance because you're going to get hit in a couple seconds" mechanic. So I think we should try to position the ranged so that they're decently far from the suck zone and have a clear path to it with no boss or melee in the way, and then try to drag the fireball from there into the suck zone directly. If we screw up we're more out of the way of the giant fire pool as it slowly gets pulled in.
Also ranged generally needs to try to get farther away from the fireball cast swirlies. The distance the kiter has to work with is limited by the distance to the next closest player.
sorry I haven't been raiding with work being intense lately I will try to make it tomorrow
gonna sit here and try to figure out who is who on this cool wallpaper
hmm, each column seems to be related trios of characters
Probably the fake Varian Wrynn, Katrana Prestor/Onyxia, and the real Varian Wrynn
Probably Aegwynn, Medivh, and Sargeras
Kadghar, Gul'dan, and Garona
Thrall, Garrosh Hellscream, and Vol'jin
probably Yrel, maybe Vindicator Boros? Vindicator Maraad?, and Velen
Malfurion Stormrage, Illidan Stormrage, and Tyrande Whisperwind
Jaina Proudmoore, Arthas Menethil, and... I think Genn Greymane, but I'm not sure what Greymane has to do with Jaina and Arthas.
Lor'themar Theron, Kael'thas Sunstrider, and Sylvannas Windrunner
Draka, Blackhand, and Durotan
Anduin Wrynn, Deathwing, and Wrathion
Cairne Bloodhoof, Magatha Grimtotem, and Baine Bloodhoof
probably Muradin Bronzebeard, Kurdran Wildhammer, and Falstad Wildhammer
Zul'jin, and two generic looking jungle trolls I don't recognize
Magni Bronzebeard, Dagran Thaurissan, and Moira Thaurissan
Nathanos Blightcaller, Grand Apothecary Putress, and Varimathras

yeah those orbs are fast as shit, I was under the impression it was going to be a longer kiting sequence than you actually get
if the rift/balls positions were predictable every attempt I could do cool gateway/circle stuff but they aren't so I can't
I just watched a video of people leading the ball more loopy-like so I guess it can actually be done that way if you have a sprint of some kind and have some practice but we sure didn't manage it the couple times we got to phase 3 last night

Positioning is mostly going to be on the fly, because the correct place on one attempt is not going to be correct on the next attempt, due to the completely random placement of the obelisks.
To handle the fire orbs seems to mostly be about people reacting fast enough to get a LOT of distance between them and the orbs, so the person kiting can have just a tiny bit less than a LOT of distance as a head start.
Is there any healer/ranged-specific mechanic in that phase that's preventing us from just dogpiling on Thrill'Jaden's ass? Or will that fuck us over even more by causing the orb to spawn in the pile?

The orb spawns on a player in pretty sure, and I also think he continues to do bursting/focused dreadflame during this phase?
I genuinely wonder if it has something to do with the adds and how quickly/slowly they are killed in p2. I'll have to look more closely at my timers the next time we do H KJ to see if I can spot exactly when the timer for the shitty adds pops up, and figure out if it was really just time based, or had some influencing factor.
Because that desync trivialized the roadblock.
also in regards to the flame orbs, people need hecka distance. The one time I was A. trying to kite it and B. successfully got it on me
I disengaged as soon as I saw the tether, and basically the orb hit me the moment disengage ended, that's how fast it moved. If I had cheetah (I burned it in the darkness phase like a dumb) or maybe just didnt second pot at all (So I can nitro belt) then I think I can run 2 orbs a little further than normal using disengage and cheetah + maybe having slightly more distance

Mekkatorque would be on there but he was too busy fighting a massive, terrible disaster impacting his people and didn't want to be a bother to anyone.
yeah i suppose. i guess i just don't see how it makes sense that it's greymane either but maybe they just didn't know where else to put him.
Isnt it meant to be what's his face, arthas' dad.
He had all white hair.
king terenas was more of a frail looking old man than that, had much wispier thinner hair and had some distinguishing items like his crown that I would have included if I were trying to make it read as him
also I always misspell khadgar

Hey guys, I am still feeling awful so I probably won't be at the raid tonight.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
As for me, I picked up a 11-9 shift today, so I'm at work until an hour after raids starts. By the time I get home I'm sure you'll be getting ready for KJ again so....I probably won't bother for now.

Speaking of which, Eits, didn't you have 2 stacks of the shit first time we hit the dark intermission? I was amazed you survived that.
Just spitballing
I don't know why that is, but it happened. Then we stopped being shit

it's Uther
He did, and so did I. And we still survived that phase with only one person dying I think?
The dark intermission is so easy compared to that shitfest of three mechanics at once.
