What about a bill that caps insurance company profits at some percentage and legislating that pharma companies must sell drugs to all entities at the prices they sell to medicare buyers?

I kid...
sort of.
ACA functionally has the first part, rhetoric aside
Cassidy is making a lot of huge assumptions about what states are going to do with their block grants.
I guess you gotta sleep at night somehow.
He knows exactly what will happen. He just can't say it because it's fucking awful and it's why these bills keep dying.
Obamacare made it normal for poor and disabled and otherwise marginalized people (pre-existing conditions) to not be screwed and there's just no going back from that. Once you give people a safety net they don't want to give it up...ever.

I'd like to ask Graham why a govt worker administering healthcare is worse than a worker working for a for profit entity who's mandate is to provide you as little as possible for as low cost as possible.

Or how one option in your state or through your job that you have virtually no direct say in is better than one option from the government.
Patients don't want the power Cassidy. Patients want the reassurance that they won't go broke staying healthy.

Cassidy losing his shit about insurance companies making too much profit is so disingenuous.

Ok so single payer then??
My super-left US coworker is against the ACA because he sees it as a handout to insurance companies, so maye they're trying to co-opt that talking point and get the far left to attack the ACA?
Cassidy also talking about profits of insurance companies and pharma companies.
How is this not a win for Bernie and the left?
The more people you turn against Pharma and Insurance co's the closer you get to a govt. public option....
Am I off my rocker or are the republicans ceding this argument? For profit healthcare is bad?
The whole Republican plan since the ACA was passed has been pretty simple:
- complain about the status quo because this is popular because everyone hates the status quo on some level
- don't actually provide any real solutions to those issues but by virtue of you complaining about them the viewer fills in the gap where your plan would be with their own desires for changes
It's a whole song and dance and they are still doing it it looks like.
Blame anything the viewer doesn't like on Obamcare to get support for repealing it but never talk about what you'd do instead because it's easier that way and because no one actually wants what you are selling except the right-wing nutters and the donors (but I repeat myself)

How does that argument end with anything other than reducing profits and power for insurance companies though?
Attacking insurance costs in arguments/statements from both sides helps the left only.
Cassidy things we ought to trust Governors to do the work state-by-state.
He thinks we're all stupid and have the memories of goldfish.
And if we as a people weren't the Republicans wouldn't control so much of the government
Seriously. I've been listening to/reading people looking at this shitty bill and that stance and being all "Why would they want this?" so I have basically zero faith that people in general get what is really going on there.

Because it's anti-ACA? That is their first and only priority. It's not like they're going to pass a more socialist healthcare system regardless of how popular it is.

That tends to happen when you go into these things with absolutely no willingness to admit that you might need to re-examine your stance.
