I'm putting in my turkey later than y'all, because I'm only serving for 3 people, so I just bought a giant turkey breast instead of a full bird.
Also gonna be making some other fun stuff: sausage stuffing, roasted sweet potatoes and squash, crispy brussles sprouts, and shakshuka with potatoes in it.
Might make a pie crust to make some apple pie, too. It's gonna be so nice.

Sophia and I were charged with making pie for tonight
pumpkin pie is in the fridge, and there's a maple pecan pie in the oven
Nice. I think I'm gonna do a hot crust for my apple pie, so I won't be making it until the last minute. Should be fun, though; I'm considering making mini-pies in a muffin tin.

Would add the King Of The Hill specials but they're neither on Netflix nor Hulu. Also, there are some New Girl and Brooklyn 99 episodes that are further along than we are in the series, so we're not watching them. Same with Master of None.
My mom is sick with the flu, so we postponed Thanksgiving until Sat. In the meantime the whole family is in the car while I teach my wife how to drive a stick shift. The kids love it when she squeals the tires.

This was our crawfish boil turkey. Not pretty but tases incredible
This was the roasted turkey. 25 lbs?
Baked macaroni
Green bean casserole
Oyster and shrimp and tasso dressing on the right, shrimp and mirliton dressing on the left
Pecan and pumpkin pie
The crawfish boiled turkey was way better than expected. Recommend!
The wee baby Locke wasn't supposed to show up until next weekend...instead, he showed up 2 weeks ago. So we're just hanging out at home, my wife keeping the toddler from giving the baby some of her apple juice as she yells HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!! and I spent the day in the kitchen; biscuits and sausage beer gravy for breakfast, slow cooked green beans and bacon, garlic mashed potatoes, Stovetop stuffing and canned cranberries (for my wife who refuses any other kind of either) and fuck the bird! it's beef Wellington!
And now we're on the couch watching Netflix and digesting.
Was charged with making deviled eggs, as is tradition, but decided to go rogue because I am Chaotic Tasty. There are now twenty eggs topped with regular paprika and six separate eggs topped with hot Hungarian paprika.
Delicious.

I'm a 36 year old who just made mashed potatoes for the first time this Thanksgiving (I usually just bake or fry or roast when it comes to potatoes).
They turned out super good and there were no leftovers because they all got ate. There were 5 pounds of russets turned into delicious buttery mash and they were the only side dish that didn't survive the dinner.

Wife and I went walking after everybody left. Walked the levee for a while and sat by the river watching these big ships go by. Then we headed back to Mom's house!
We're having a small, low-maintenance Thanksgiving meal this year. It's just my girlfriend and I this time around, I think, because our roommate is out. She might come back in time but we didn't task her with making something.
Our menu is:
Tri-tip roast
Cheesy hashbrown casserole
Traditional stuffing
Cranberry sauce
Cheesy garlic bread
Mini chocolate eclairs
A half gallon of Tillamook sea salted caramel and hazelnut ice cream
Various beers

Blah, I thought most places don't open until later tonight because of PR backlash. =\
PR Backlash only goes so far when you compare it to the backlash of stockholders realizing they might miss out on a quarter point.
Just needed 10 more minutes than the recipe called for
Damnit, you didn't listen to OmnipotentBagel!
I need to get out of here but there’s pie.
Okay maybe one piece of pie then I need to get out of here.

So I'm feeling a bit proud right about now.
