Often lately someone will have seen me about and recognise me and will want to chat to me and get to know each other
and thats great! I like that.
But then I will hear myself speaking and the verbal nonsense I spew and
lord do I wish I prattled less sometimes.
Alas!
I have two conversational modes, "awkwardly quiet" and "won't shut up", so I can relate
I coined the term 'unshutuppable' for the second half of this affliction of which I too suffer. I've learned that for me personally, the awkward quiet is only when I'm with strangers.
I want to go see three billboards but I'm sick still.
Also I see movies alone sometimes. my family and I aren't always into the same movies and I don't have friends to go with.
It isn't that awkward. usually nobody is paying attention to anyone else. just the film. the sucky part is leaving not having anyone to discuss it with.

Sorry everyone is so sick.
I go to see movies by myself all the time. I love being able to immerse myself in the film, and have my own time with it. Sometimes afterwards, if I really liked the movie, I go get a slice of cherry pie and a cup of coffee, and research the making of the movie and the cast.
I used to be super self conscious about it but then I dunno. I guess I started to enjoy it?
Like, I go when nobody is there, I see whatever weird bullshit I want to see and if I really connect with it then I've got this cool little experience all to myself that I can ruminate on for a while.
Fiancee and I went to the tasting for our wedding venue yesterday. We had:
1.Pulled pork sliders
2.Chicken skewers
3.Bbq shrimp and grits
4.Some kinda shrimp pasta
5.Fried artichoke hearts
6.Crab cakes with remoulade sauce
7.Crawfish beignets
8.Crab stuffed mushrooms.
Only real downer were the skewers because I love food on a stick, but they were mediocre.
Other than that, holy shit. The pulled pork sliders are going to be at a station where someone makes you as many shredded beef, fried chicken, and pulled pork sliders as you want. The shrimp and grits will also be at a station where someone makes it in front of you. Also, it's open bar, but I'm gonna be drunk on shrimp.
I've not had anything bad happen to me, I've only been alone once, but my friend had a very bad experience when she went alone at the same cinema, and it put me rather on edge though the urge to watch Civil War won out!

This sounds like the most amazing wedding food ever

Not mentioned is that we're getting rid of the chicken skewers so we can add king cake bread pudding. We're getting married in New Orleans right around Mardi Gras.
I've not had anything bad happen to me, I've only been alone once, but my friend had a very bad experience when she went alone at the same cinema, and it put me rather on edge though the urge to watch Civil War won out!
This is absolutely infuriating. I get fucking livid when I hear about this kind of shit. Entertainment of any kind is supposed to be for everyone. Everybody deserves to have fun and enjoy something and feel represented, be it in games, movies, music, comics or whatever and not feel threatened or unsafe or on edge or judged. How dare anybody disrespect that.
It's a sacred thing and I'm pissed off that we haven't done better. Fuck gamergate, fuck asshole comicbois, fuck every single Harvey Weinstein, fuck anybody who takes away the magic of art from another person and makes them feel small.

I'm 5ft1" sooooo....
Nah you're right. I thought "I could take in a notebook and pretend to be a film reviewer and then the men won't harass me like they did my friend" then I realised how daft that was.
I'm sure every woman could provide a big old list called Shit We Can't Enjoy Because Of Harassment. It is sad.

I go alone in the middle of the day, as is the privilege of the medically disabled (and also people in college)

Oh I didn't read the original difficulty as gender gatekeeping but rather assault. I wonder if that's cause I'm American?
A bit earlier in this thread I was reading about hugs from strangers .. and on that topic I have a cute story to share. I went to a Ren fair with my husband and he was wearing a shirt with this on it:
One of the people working at the festival was sitting down eating and was like .."Hey! I'm here." My husband was very confused as he repeated the line a couple of times .. and I was like "Your shirt, go give him a hug!" So he did .. but when the dude stood up he was surprisingly VERY TALL.
The End!

I believe you are what is referred to as "smol" which I think is the preferable version.

In high school crossing the courtyard at lunch time (where everyone had lunch) was like going up and over on the Somme.
Is it excited, enthusiastic chatter or void filling chatter? Cause the first one is never something to be ashamed of.
You should never feel like you're prattling on because you're actually just easy to talk to about loads of stuff and that is great

WELL
thank you, that is good then!!
I finally got a full night sleep again for the first time in like a week.
I coined the term 'unshutuppable' for the second half of this affliction of which I too suffer. I've learned that for me personally, the awkward quiet is only when I'm with strangers.
I go the movies by myself all the time and it's no big deal.
* if you're a guy.
I've done it before but I don't like it.
I'd rather go even with a stranger.
Also I see movies alone sometimes. my family and I aren't always into the same movies and I don't have friends to go with.

I actually prefer going alone now.

It is?

I go alone all the time.
No hand holdings or smooches, but a really lovely day.
I basically only ever go to the movies alone, because I time my movie viewings so that I don't have to like, interact with too many people
Nothing like a chilled Sunday with family and friends

Lovely days are lovely. You don't need hand holdings or smooches to have a good day.
