I'm basically an academic by talent and temperment, but I can't really pursue a career in that area because I'm not willing to relocate.
Can you do research at a local university?
It would be difficult for me to go to the effort and expense of getting advanced degrees based on the unforeseeable potential for getting a research position.
@ELM - politicians in New Hampshire are paid $100 per year plus gas money to drive to the capital.

While we're on the subject of shitty wirelesses, mine has always been shitty. It randomly disconnects, but says "Excellent" when it does and only works when it's "Poor" or "Very Low." And then it won't automatically reconnect, I have to take the USB out and put it back in and maybe it'll reconnect, otherwise I have to restart the computer. Any advice for a cheap new wireless adapter? I've been using this crappy D-link for almost 5 years now.
I went basicly stir crazy at my mother's house when I had to go see her before she died and the frustation that followed
She had no cable, almost no books { I did read allot but not really anything worth discussing} the Various LOTR models she had stopped painting because she fell ill
It was quite depressing to be in that house with no cash, no car, and really nothing to do except wait
I was glad I brought my DS but I did not want to see where my mother had in her's

Strange, when I'm downloading a game on Steam, my web browsing is unimpeded, but if I'm using BitTorrent to grab random crap, everything slows to a crawl.
I had a match, but she had a lighter
I had a flame, but she had a fire
I was bright, but she was much brighter
I was high, but she was the sky
Oh baby, I was bound for Mexico
Oh baby, I was bound to let you go

DOES NOT COMPUTE
She had a DS lite she left behind. I just looked at to see what game she was playing and left it at that.
All I know is she had brain age and Animal Crossing and the later was in the system

The combination of "where" and "her's" is what made it not compute. Makes sense now.
I'm looking for some Game Cube games that are kind of cute and fun for my wife and I to play together. She really like Lego Star Wars and Paper Mario. Cute things like that.
Also, I need to buy a good RPG. I don't want to buy anything that came out after 2006 because I don't want my computer to struggle with it. I don't like playing online, so I'm not looking for a subscription to this or that.

I tried to get my own picture of it when we were driving by, but couldn't get a decent shot.
While we were up there, somebody told me that it was owned by the same guy that owned Canal Street or something, and that he was a huge drug dealer and had used that to launder a bunch of money.

Mario cart, super smash bros, Tales of Symphonia is a very good action RPG for the gamecube.

Eternal Darkness isn't cute or multiplayer. It is, however, fucking awesome and worth having if for no other reason than A) one of the best Lovecraftian games ever and it's an M-rated Nintendo first-party game.
Mario Kart, however, is great for what you're after. As are Mario Tennis and Super Mario Strikers (Mario Soccer). And for fuck's sake Super Monkey Ball.
Other than that, um, I dunno, the games I have the most success getting non-nerds (girl or boy, doesn't matter) to play are Soul Calibur, Gundam vs Zeta Gundam and Samurai Warriors, in that order.
Edit: But seriously, Eternal Darkness is worth having either way. It's one of the games that I love for helping to validate videogames as a mode of expression on par with film.
God, fake/rip-off dojos piss me off to no end. It's bad enough that the actual teachings have been diluted with the passage of time, we don't need jackass going about making shit up and pretending to know crap that they don't.
The place I went to that taught Aikdo (though I didn't take it) was something like $15 a month. And you could attend any lessons or come during any of the open mat times to practice. Awesome place, real teachers, certified etc. And they only charged enough to keep the roof up over their heads and to make necessary repairs and additions, like the really nice expensive floor mat they saved up for.

WoW!
EVEN THE GLARE HAS GLARE
It's Florida. Everything sucks there.
The sun it burns!
I don't even try to use devices that have screens outside here because of the lack of cloud cover most of the year
GOOOOOOOOOOOAL!
I read about Baggins. I'm all sad now.
TL;DR ... after a few sentences, dump his ass (if this is even real) and move the fuck on with your life. He obviously has.
also it's tiresome to move about carrying my bags and dressed for Seattle weather
though to be honest I'm not overly warm at the moment, it's pretty pleasant
I should probably take some pictures at least with my cell phone so that I can remember this actually did happen
and it was not just credit card theft
EDIT: Is that chick gonna kill herself or a bunch of other people?

Most of what I can think of involves the GBA link cable shit, which I assume you're not interested in.
Edit: Mario Kart.

Frustrating. It just annoys me to see MMA tards entirely miss the point of a martial art like Aikdio.
Newsflash: Not all martial arts are about beating people up.
grumble, grumble.

Stealing would actually fly in the face of pretty much everything Aikido stands for. :P
I thought it was japanese for poking assholes.

Every fly by night little martial arts place in the pac northwest always seems to offer akido, I figured it was part of the training.
