There's something that's immensely funny to me watching those people demo'ing Diablo Mobile. The rapid tapping of thumbs on the screen just gets me chuckling. Touchscreens are going to be absolutely punished because of this.

Yeah a bit of a wet fart of an ending to the ceremony. The audience was pretty tepid about it, too, it sounded like. I kind of feel bad for the guy on stage; it's not his fault that this is his job.
This is supposed the "hype" moment. This is the only new game that was announced, they expect to make huge dough on it eventually, and the demo room is nothing but this game. The graphics do look rather good for a mobile game so this is not some low budget venture like Hearthstone started as.
Yikes. I wonder if they initially planned to show something big, but pulled back at the last moment. Blizzard has not put on a Blizzcon before due to lack of stuff to show and this felt like it hit that threshold.

Not that hard. I installed the version that came with the Diablo III's collectors edition in the uselessly-limited but glitz "Soulstone" USB drive that really couldn't be used for anything else.
Works fine in Windows 10. Older versions might have some trouble (original CD release), but there are community patches.

this was a pretty standard off year for blizzcon imo
they never have anything flashy if they don't have a new wow expansion
I'm pretty pumped to play Destiny 2 for the first time with the Mrs. for free, so there's that.
The WC3 remaster is something I think everyone knew was coming but seeing it in action was cool. I think sadly for me much of what's now holding the look of that game back is how the terrain is rendered, and it doesn't seem you'd be able to do much about that without fucking with the game so that old stuff would no longer be compatible.
Kinda stabbed in the back. Mobile MMO huh? I want my 50 dollars back, not see details.
I think Blizzard is going after the korean crowd with this game. I really hope it turns out well for them, because it hasn't for their regular fans.

Diablo Immortal looks good but I don't play games on my phone really and I especially won't be playing a game like that on my phone or tablet.

Honestly Warcraft 3 Reforged was probably more exciting than anything they showed last year to me :P Diablo mobile is whatever. I feel like my phone probably won't run it well based on the visuals.
I was also happy to hear WoW classic is basically free with WoW subscription. That's something I was worried about.
As a side note, just seeing the crowds on the virtual ticket was giving me anxiety. Sooooooooooo glad I didn't go this year. They are inviting way too many people to Blizzcon now. It's not fun to spend the entire time standing in line.

We knew D4 wasn't coming today. I realize mobile games don't have a huge demographic overlap with traditional PC games, but one company can do both, it's not a betrayal.

I will say, getting this in exchange for, let's say, Diablo 3 expansion content, is maybe disappointing. Though I don't play Diablo 3 anymore really so I don't particularly care I think.
It wasnt just that it was mobile the FMV's content was depressingly revisionist as well. Yeah yeah I know violence on mobile etc but there was one bit where the barb is getting bearhugged and makes a comic relief style face towards the sorc.
Last year we got an announcement saying Diablo wasn't going to be at Blizzcon. This year Diablo is essentially the theme of the show for a mobile game. It stings a bit.

Warcraft 3 Reforged looks REALLY good.
The difference is that Diablo has a current generation game out that uses Diablo mechanics.
WC3 is likely the last traditional warcraft game ever.

TBH, they should've pulled a Bethesda, thrown up some concept art and announced Diablo 4, no matter how far out it is.
When they introduced the Diablo Immortal NetEase team, there was a moment of awkwardness when the audience wasn't sure if they should clap or not.
You know, seeing that Diablo's What's Next was the very next event after the keynote kind of got my hopes up.
Now I'm curious how much of a cringe fest it is.
