this morning i mentioned this thread to my wife and asked her if she had ever heard of mellow mushroom, and she informed me that not only has she heard of it, one time we went together after a beer festival and i liked it very much

Oh yeah. After a good beer festival you rarely remember where you ate.
Mellow Mushroom is real good, we went to one in Pigeon Forge, TN and liked it a bunch.
But Mad Mushroom is real bad, but they exist in Bloomington and West Lafyatte Indiana, which is where IU and Purdue are respectively, and they are open until like 4AM?
Anyway it doesn't matter how good your pizza actually is when its 4AM.
If I wanted a fun and stylish Netflix fantasy animation, should I prioritize Dragon Prince or She-Ra
You should check out She-Ra. I found it super enjoyable, and while the character beats might not be the most original for a tv show, they hit hard.
And it's very openly queer coded, which was pretty cool as well.
I really didn't think She-Ra would stick with me as well as it did, especially as I had no interest in it before hand and was only watching it so a friend wouldn't have to watch it by herself, but its got its claws in deep. Her and I, after only thinking we would watch a couple of episodes to fill out our lack of Riverdale time, did all 13 episodes in one sitting.
Edit: I quoted the wrong person, one moment.
Edit 2: Fixed.

Yeah, I love it. Makes the family values crowd's head spin that a pornstar (the shame!) has achieved such mainstream popularity. The sad thing is that she mostly does roles that objectify the shit out of her. It'd be incredible if she was a legit capital A Actor but from what I've seen, I don't think she's got the chops.

I ended up liking Dragon Prince quite a bit, but that was in spite of the animation. When it's fast-paced it looks great, but slower movement is distracting. Still worth a watch, though, the characters are humanised well, including the antagonists.
But yeah, She-Ra is a delight and gets my vote. I'll have my full thoughts on it once I've finished it.
I noped out of Dragon Prince pretty fast not because of the animation/framerate, but the 3D-style they use. It makes the characters looks so bland and cheap.

i found a lot to like by sticking with dragon prince, but a fair slice of its humor felt like it was aimed a bit younger than i expected, and honestly this "book 1" felt very prologue-y to me. or more accurately, maybe, like it just wasn't telling a full "book"'s worth of story. it ends in a place that makes sense for some characters and not others, with a bit of a sudden climax
I am watching the 4 seasons of Bob's Burgers that I missed, and fuck this show is so good. I can't believe this airs between the hateful and cynical shells of The Simpsons and Family Guy
Gene's heartfelt speech about how he'll never own a nice toilet is one of the only pieces of art I've seen that captured what it's like to be a kid in a poor household.

Bob's Burgers is really good at capturing this in general.

Damn fine show, overall, but I think the last two episodes could've used... 50% less dialogue. Lilies were gilded, prose was purpled, and a lot of genuine emotion got kinda trampled along the way.
It doesn't undo how much I enjoyed the first eight, but it was still a bit of a down note to end on.
I enjoyed that a lot. The Goliaths just want to put off playing the game as long as possible and the Davids are making that impossible
I think the last two weeks have had two of the more exciting, memorable tribal councils that we've seen in recent seasons. I completely understand why Mike is trying to keep Goliath together, he stands to gain the most from the group sticking together (being arguably the weakest player in their group), but they tried to ride it out too long and now they'll pay. It's rare that new powers actually work out in a way that's exciting and make for better competition, but I think in this case they helped even the playing field between the groups and worked out well. There's nothing more dull than a large group spending weeks plucking people off, so I'm all in favor of some actual back and forth between factions for a change.
Peter Stormare gives such a weird performance in Castlevania and I love it?
I like his gonzo interpretation of the character but his voice (in this particular case) along with that interpretation make me want to claw my eyes out and stuff them into my ears.

also this is the part where i humblebrag that i know noelle i•r•l so ofc i was gonna stan the series anyway
Episode 3, I think?
That particular repetition seems odd to me.
The original cartoon was a glorified toy commercial and they got fuckin' lazy with names
I mean, one of the main characters in She-Ra is a guy who uses a bow and arrow and his name is Bow

Indian-American. Her given name is Karenjit Kaur Vohra which.
I guess that doesn't strike me as odd, because Breath of Fire 2 did the same thing.
