The action choreography on this show has not been stellar, but their effects work has been pretty great. It doesn't look state of the art, necessarily, but they use it terrifically. Karolina's rainbow sparkle effect looks way better than I would have expected, Old Lace looks great, the Staff of One effects work really well, and a huge part of why these effects work so well is that they clearly spend a lot of time thinking about how to frame them, and when to best use them.
And the casting has been really on point. Like...all of the kids are great, but I think Lyrica Okano's Nico and Ariela Barer's Gert are really the standouts. Nico seems like a really tough role, given how much she's holding in at any given moment, and Okano is great at selling someone going through a lot while desperately trying not to show it. And Gert could be really overbearing in the wrong hands, and Barer grounds her with a ton of humanity, and she's especially great in any of her scenes with Molly. Hell, she sold a telepathic conversation with a dinosaur incredibly well.
The plot is going in interesting directions, like...I'm not sure where it's going next, and that's exciting!
I like this show a lot

You've surged ahead of me at this point, but yeah, I'm really enjoying season two.
I dug season one as well, but I'm quite impressed with how season two has managed to both continue what was good about season one and change up significant parts of the tone and how the show functions.

I'm really impressed with how confident it is. Superhero shows especially seem to really struggle with their second seasons lately, so I was definitely nervous about this one going in. I've also had roommates catching up with season one now, and...I think they've definitely fumbled some small details (I definitely don't think they have any real handle on how the staff of one actually works, but it doesn't really matter), but I know a lot of people had problems with season one spending so much time with the parents. And...that work is really paying off this season, and it's allowing them to go in interesting directions they couldn't really go in the comics.
It's just really well done, and it seems like it's kinda flying under the radar, which is a bummer.
Brooklyn 99 is on netflix here in Australia, except for the new stuff, I was literally watching some last night
By now Netflix might be better outside the US than in. Over here for example they also have most of the CW shows (except for Legends) and other network shows like ST:Discovery and for several of those episodes get released weekly almost parallel to the the original US airings.
If you have Shudder, I can’t recommend it enough. The final season is supposed to be uploaded there soon and when it is all 4 seasons/stories will be on there. I personally enjoyed each one

It sucks that it got dropped, but I'm glad to hear the rest is on/will be on Shudder. They only had S1 a few months ago.

Yeah, the Staff of One has been a confusing thing
Spoilers from season 1 through S02E04
Like, at first they were trying to play it up as this maybe tech thing, because that's the Minorus' specialty, so yeah, maybe this staff is just an extension of smart houses and Siri and so on. I was not a fan of this move at all, because I hate that sufficiently advanced technology nonsense, and they seemed to kind of quietly drop it by the end of the season.
And now they've also implemented the One Spell, One Cast policy, which it really seemed like they were skipping earlier (to the point that I'm kind of interested in going back to the first season and seeing if they've been doing it all along). And like, I'm fine with that, it's a good way to limit a seemingly all powerful magical artifact for a low-powered show, but it's definitely pushing it much further in the magic direction than the overly complicated technology.

I finished Runaways season 2 a week and a half or so ago. I liked it a lot more than the first season, and I hope it doesn't get canceled like the Netflix shows (especially with how the season ends)
I definitely had issues with it, some of which are problems I have with Marvel's TV division output as a whole, but I enjoyed it. I'ma wait until y'all finish it to discuss it though because I don't remember exactly when stuff happens

Can't have authentic dirt and trash, that's not osha compliant. You have to sanitize everything and buy expensive movie trash.

When I was in that history channel War of 1812 special, the make-up people were going to dirty me up because I was too clean. They started to put dirt on my hands and I had to explain to them how that dirt wouln't be that way and then went to fired off and reloaded my musket a couple of times and came back and showed them. They took reference pictures and studies my hands for a while.

True Detective s3 ep 1-2
So there were a couple references to the Yellow King. And so now our friend group is divided into "oh hey an easter egg" and "Ohhhhh shit RETURN TO CARCOSA"
Which I'm definitely in the former here. Because tying in s1 in a big way would feel like a real real desperate move at this point.

I also spotted an AD&D manual in Will's room and thought no they can't possibly be doing this, it has to be an homage to Stranger Things at most.

Wait what were they
When the 2015 documentarians are talking about the dolls they talk about them possibly being related to secret pedophile rings like "The Crooked Spiral."
And apparently a book in the missing kids room has connections the Yellow King stories, but I didn't catch that one.
