So, at PAX Unplugged, some guy had two Titans sitting on a table in the mini wargaming section. I want to say they were Warlords. As I wandered into the conversation he was having with a group of people who were admiring the Titans to snag a picture or two, he's complaining about how in 40k 8th edition, things just get deleted. He's saying even his Titan can be deleted by an opposing Titan in one turn. The way he was saying this, it sounded like a negative.
Parts of the group start to bring up Apocalypse to resolve that. He's apparently unaware of the new Apocalypse rules and re-states how stuff just dies fast. We (because I can't shut up and thus join in) then insist / interrupt him to point out that the new Apocalypse rules let everything fire at least once.
He realizes he was wrong, pauses, then goes "Nah, fuck that, what's the point of that."
I don't understand people. Maybe he was just getting off on talking about how ridiculously strong the weapons are on Warlords.

It's unfair that an opponent can remove his cool toys from the table before they get a chance to do anything.

You could probably crib ideas and terrain from Warcry in a pinch. Might not help much but it's worth looking at I think.
I am curious if they will continue the kill team terrain kits and teams this year. Part of me wants them to do another of the series of missions for kill team like the Rogue Trader one had but this time a Tyranid ship as it would be neat to play inside a hive Ship and get ship innards for terrain Or tyranid terrain in general
Other than that I am tempted to get the Warcry/Aos graveyard terrain as it would be neat to do a game or two on a mausoleum world [they must exist as the rulers of hive worlds don't want to be corpse paste for the lesser} So you can explain it as a cult is looking to defile a grave of a hero or someone was buried with something they shouldn't have been with and so on
I’m taking a small break from preppin’ & primin’. Here’s a small snapshot of what I’m working on currently:
The grey Primaris are a 5-man Intercessor squad and the Space Wolf Lt from the Start Collecting I’m making as a thank-you to a helpful and friendly MSgt that works with me. We might do a Kill Team game before he leaves, but if not he’ll still appreciate it: he’s a huge Black Library fan, but he’s never gotten into the hobby. I also wanted to try out using contrast paints for the base coat but I’m still not confident that I’m using them correctly.
The spooky green are the Dark Imperium Death Guard, and I want to try the blue-green & rust color scheme from the KT: Commanders book. This will be my new army for this upcoming campaign, unless someone else wants it more.
In the prep area I’ve got the 10-man Genestealer Cults Neophyte Hybrids from the KT core set, and some of the monopose Primaris Vanguard from the Shadowspear box set (not pictured). I anticipated that two of the friends would go for those, but after talking with them more I was pretty far off: both are big mech-heads, but one is leaning towards T’au (specifically the Crisis Suit) and the other is interested in Mechanicus. I’ve got what came in the two Kill Team core boxes so that’s what they’re getting until they commit more to it.
This is probably more painting thread worthy but I finally found my preferred airbrush settings and now I feel like I can breeze through these projects... well as quickly as I can allow myself to be. I’m very much more interested in a Parade Ready standard rather than Battle Ready. In that regard Chaos is a huge pain in the dick with how detailed these models are.
Speaking of Chaos, I’m not sure if this is the result of Warp energies, alien DNA, or paint fumes, but it looks like my pliers grew an arm:
I was really hoping it'd be Farsight getting a new model, given that these updates also come with new rules and Shadowsun, and Tau Sept, are already amazing while Farsight, and Farsight Enclaves, could use some help.
I'm sort of hoping this version of Shadowsun gets a different set of rules and can be taken by any Sept.
Also, some of the custom septs that are interesting, because some of the current ones are relatively weak. It's going to be a job to shift people away from Tau Sept at any rate.

That's going to be almost impossible unless one of the custom ones is insane. People love the overwatch, but the real secret sauce of T'au sept is focus fire and how it breaks the maths on T'au guns.

Part of me when Shadowsun was first out wanted to do the look of the Tau Comander in Dawn of War
But this was also when Forgeworld had those Tau suits as well. Just the thought of spending 100 to saw it up was not that great
I have the original Farsight. I don't know how I have it though as most of the tau are in the three boxes I keep them in since I had no idea to paint that tan tau and farsight at the time was a dark red but I did not wanted to do another red [Siam hann,Hive Fleet Kraken and Kabal of the Flayed Skull}
If I rebuild my tau I just need some of the bigger suits {a few of the XV88 and such} And some more fire warriors
Just I got them from someone long ago as they to had no idea how to paint them {They barely assembled them so I was curious why they basically gave them to me in trade and cash}
I hadn't really looked through the Kill Team campaign rules before but they're a bit sparse. I'd like to modify them so that the individual resources have more impact and managing them is more strategic. Here's what I'm thinking:
Morale: this is the overall health of the KT and that player loses the campaign when this reaches 0. There would be very few opportunities to increase this resource, and players would lose it whenever their KT is broken in a game, or when they have to pay some other resource cost and aren't able to.
Material: this resource would be spent to add new models to the KT (including replacing specialists and fire team members lost through attrition) and to level up existing models (after they'd accumulated the necessary XP). I'd also allow this to be spent once per game to generate an extra CP at the start of a fight. This would be a reward from certain missions, and also an extra objective that could be secured during each game.
Intelligence: this resource would be spent by both players in a bidding war to chose the mission before each game. I'd have each player roll a D6 and after viewing the result spend points to reroll until they're happy with the result. Accumulating a certain number of Intelligence points would also be required for some faction specific missions. Intelligence would be gained from missions, and also from "capturing" an opponent's leader (taking out the leader and then getting within 1" of the token left by their body).
Territory: I'm not quite sure what to do with this one. I feel like players would lose it if they decide to do a strategic withdrawal. Maybe I'll make it a zero-sum resource and require it for certain faction missions.
I'll change up some of the mission victory results/conditions so that they tie in better with certain resources, and make a couple of unique faction specific story missions. The last thing I'll do is create some unique win conditions for each army. For example the Blight Guard, since they're going to be the antagonists, will start with only 3 morale (the others start with 10), but win if all the other teams ever have lower morale than they do. They won't lose morale for breaking, and will gain a point of morale for each 25% of the total territory they control. On the other hand the T’au need to find the remains and extracted data of a captured nicassar, and to do so must accumulate 10 intelligence (starting from 5) to then be eligible to run a special Recover Intelligence mission to win the campaign.
Been doing some painting tonight. Decided Blood Ravens Sergeants have black helmets. Vets -- bone, same as the shoulderpads. Vet Sergeants, Black with bone stripe / facemask. Lieutenant Bone with Black Stripe (Primaris) Red with black stripe and bone inner stripe (Firstborn).
Need gem paints to do the gemstones, but can do that later.
Kinda trying to get some unity between my 3 forces -- so matching the reds between my Blood Ravens and AdMech and Custodes, maybe giving the Custodes weapons wooden hafts, etc. Not sure about it.
well I messed up
I bought some Skitarii second hand on ebay but the catch was I did not get the instructions. But what it was is basically 2 start collections with some Ruststalkers instead of a 2nd Tech Priest.
The one box did some sealed but did not have the instructions for the Skitarii. So how I messed up is
I did not know the legs are set to each body and one in the sealed box is broken so I messed up putting them together. I feel the only way I can fix it is buy some legs and sell the ones I don't need
Open day reveals. For 40k it's a new Shadowsun. A bit weird that as a special character she gets a bunch of weapon options and can lead all the septs. Makes her more of a generic stealth suit character.
One is broken the one on the right and I just fit the legs as they went so some ended up with some that barely fit? When I tired to look up the instructions I could not find them other than the long list
So what I have doesn't fit and one is broken. So I felt the only way to fix this is just get some of the leg bits and sell what I did not use
Best of all, as befits this iconic hero of the empire, she can now lead any Sept, not just those of her homeworld, so she can take command of any T’au Empire collection***. We think she’ll look right at home at the head of a strike force of Stealth Suits and Ghostkeels.
As an AdMech player who DOESN'T play Mars, this gives me hope.

Possibly. Remember the Skitarii legs are always cybernetic from the knee down. So in theory you can just mold something vaugely leglike and paint it gunmetal and you're good.
IIRC when putting my rangers together the legs wouldn't go into the torsos that they didn't match up with. Like, at all -- the robes got in the way.

Weapon options?
All these new Imperial models are great, but isn’t it about time we got a mega xenos hero in plastic?
O’Shaserra, better known as Commander Shadowsun, is getting an awesome new model!
Her newly up-gunned battlesuit now comes equipped as standard with an arsenal of weapons, from a flechette launcher to light missile pod, and the choice of tank-busting high-energy fusion blasters or Space Marine-melting dispersed fusion blasters. Shadowsun is also accompanied by her trusty pair of high-tech drones which bring with them a suite of handy tactical abilities.

Shadowsun drops in alongside the release of book 5 of Psychic Awakening, titled “The Greater Good”, but we’ll have to wait a little bit longer before we find out who the T’au will be up against.
Phew, that’s been a packed morning! We’ll be back this afternoon with one more piece of news, so in the meantime, make sure you head over to the Warhammer Age of Sigmar and Warhammer 40,000 Facebook pages to let us know what you’re most excited to see in 2020.
It looks like you can build her with a good number of different weapons.

Isn’t that just the standard equipment she’s always had? The fusion blasters have been multi-profile ‘prototypes’ as long as she’s been around…

Yes, they sold out from most online stores in (literally) minutes.

The store has lots of semi-rare stock like that, due to lack of local interest. They need to get an employee to list some stuff on eBay.

Sadly, other than in studio conditions I guess it doesn't look that great. When not glowing it looks like "a dirty white."
Not ideal but far better than trying to sculpt or paying $200 for a full squad.
