Here's hoping the black background ones don't look bad. I didn't realize at the time they would be transparent and the example images onthe order form for a bunch of them looked terrible. I went with a merc outfit because, when it comes to rolling the dice, it seemed the most appropriate.
The idea I had was folks submit some "official" variants of mechs, whether it's a variant that is basically standard issue in the Oosiks but maybe unheard of otherwise, all the way down to specific custom variants.
Submitted designs would be voted on by Oosiks to determine how rare a given variant is within the unit, and could probably be compiled via google docs or something.
@Nips What's the earliest era for my Dragon to exist in, both in the 3000s and pre-3000s before the weapons and such were lost
Sarna puts the Dragon origin date at 2754, late Star League era, and the "base" model (1N) was produced all the way up to 3060. The 1N doesn't use any advanced tech, so it's entirely plausible that a model from the Star League era could survive (with proper repairs and maintenance) even past the end of the 1N production run.
Your Big Lizard, I'd have to go back and look at its loadout. Gimme a hot sec.
@nips 300xl, FF (I think, that or Endo), lb10x, 3mlas, srm6, and BAP

Your Dragon TT translation I have as XL300, Endo, DHS, LB 10-X, 4xMPL, SRM-6, BAP.
So the bottlenecks are (Per Sarna):
XL: Produced 2579, Extinct 2865, Reintroduced 3035
Endo: Produced 2487, Extinct 1SW (2786-2821), Reintroduced 3035
DHS: Produced 2567, Extinct 2865, Reintroduced 3028/3041 (The wording on Sarna for the reintroduction date is weird, but w/e)
LB 10-X: Produced 2590, Extinct 2840, Reintroduced 3035
MPL: Produced 2609, Extinct 2950, Reintroduced 3037
BAP: Produced 2560, Extinct 2835, Reintroduced 3045
So like I said, I think it's plausible to build your particular Dragon as early as its first introduction date 2754; all of the advanced tech is available by then. Note that this would be a bespoke build (as most Oosiks 'mechs would be); an Endo Steel chassis variant of the Dragon does not exist until the Grand Dragon DRG-7K in 3063.
Replacement parts would have died out in the Inner Sphere circa the First (2786-2821) through Third (2866-3025) Succession Wars. Then you'd have to wait until the mid 3030's (sans BAP) to reconstruct it per your build.
Bottom Line: Plausible to build circa the Dragon's initial release, really-fucking-hard-to-impossible to repair circa the Succession Wars era. Individual component parts could possibly be sourced, or downgraded, but replacing a lost internal segment would be a top-shelf bitch-and-a-half problem.

Unrelated, Idle Thoughts:
-Has anyone (here) ever actually used the Chaos Campaign rules? I've read through it once, and it seems like a decent semi-streamlined way to conduct a campaign, but I've never seen anyone mention using it outside of a handful of mentions on the official forums. (That said, I only frequent the Miniatures, Iron Wind, and General subforums, so I'm probably just missing the conversations).
-I wonder how fruitful it would be to enforce Quirks on chassis for Alpha Strike play, as a way to juice the diversity and differentiation of chassis at a similar loadout and PV. There's definitely rules in place to support it, but I've literally never heard anyone using them. (Again, maybe not paying attention in the right places.)
- @Ianator I an hyper jelly that you both have the time and opportunity for repeat, scheduled play. Just, uuuunnnnnggggg, I want that, but life just ain't letting that happen right now.
Thank you for backing a BattleTech Canon Character. This Survey will walk you through the information we need in order to place you into a future product.
O FUK
The Notes field is extra important, as this is your best avenue to make a special request direct to the Team. If you have friends that want to be part of the same single combat command or family business, a physical feature that is extremely important to you, or an historical event you want noted in your “file"; this is where it goes. We will assume any NOTE you leave to override all other details in importance, so use sparingly; this is live ammo.
So, do we want to group up under the glorious banner of the Oosik Irregulars or do we want to just do our own thing?
The Oosik Irregulars? You mean that canon group from the Second(?) Succession War book?

I regret not giving my full name when I wrote in to help make that happen. Generally speaking, if someone knows me well in real life, they'd be able to identify my online presence PDQ, but AFAIK it would be difficult to walk it backwards and find my real identity from what I've posted online (at least, not without access to my account info). Still, it felt kind of silly being the only person mentioned in their acknowledgment who only provided my given name.

Hmmm I think you upgraded my Dragon's lasers a little to compensate for my probably suboptimal 3mlas loadout
Since we're so far out, does anyone have GenCon plans this year? Maybe we could get a Battletech game scheduled (informally)

I'm definitely not going this year, unfortunately. One of my buddies is instead putting together a big game weekend since a bunch of us are turning old.

Yeah, we're definitely coordinating an Oosik drop. I haven't gotten the survey yet, I'll update the trade workbook with a Characters sheet once I know what fields we're working with.
I think it was at the $300 mark. Forgot how much it is as an add-on.
I was just trying to find this out (without opening the pledge manager). It was a pack in for the $300 pledge tier yeah, and it was $200 as an add-on.
As previously discussed, CGL was good at maths.: P
Huh, I gotta look back over the options, then. I originally backed at the $145 level, but I put most of my gift money from the end of the year (my birthday's in November, so it tends to all get lumped together) into upgrades, and it might be enough to hit $300. I'll have to see what I'd need to leave out to rearrange that to qualify for the character and decide if I'm willing to do it.

Just saying but the FRR was founded in 3034, and almost all of this tech was brought back in 3035, so it could be an apocryphal DRG-2R that's another early predecessor for the official Grand Dragon that was developed by the FRR using what they had to build off of. Instead of 4xMPL you could do an LL and 2xML with another DHS, drop the BAP for more armor (if available) or another DHS and/or ML/SL?
That's now three of the five I got (Blood Spirit, Coyote, and Ice Hellion) and so far I love them! Ice Hellion is probably my least favorite looking so far, and it's still pretty damn good!
So is this the week canon characters needed to be submited? I feel like the emails have been ambiguous.
I would like to be an Oosik, since I'm a PAer. But I feel a bit odd about it since I've never dropped with you all. So I was thinking of being an admin type rather than a mechwarrior. Maybe someone creatively/mysteriously able to obtain parts/supplies. Workable?

Yeah, are you fucking kidding me? Here's the super strict entrance requirement for being an Oosik:
You posted here at least once!
Congratulations, you're an Oosik! The commissary is over there, the bar's open 24/7 (even though that's not the daily and weekly cycle here on Talisker), and there's a stack of papers you can help me push (into a furnace) over in the corner.
If paper pushing isn't your jam, we're hiring heavily across all departments: Frontline Combat, Combat Support, Technical Support, Support Support, Finance, Human Resources, and "Intelligence".

Well, I already made TT-compatible versions of everyone's rides currently in the First Battalion, so...
Yes?
