Fun fact and completely unrelated to tilting from reading my own team's chat, if you get into promos for, say, Silver 2, and then proceed to demote down to Silver 4, when you get back into promos for Silver 2 you do NOT get a free win.
Also I really didn't expect to be this bad after taking a year-ish off the game but what can you do. I definitely need to just start muting chat at the beginning of every game. Everything necessary can be communicated in pings (I don't flame but I do get into long-winded arguments about how, no, actually, I am not the worst person to ever play the game because I overextended that one time).
Yeah chat is just not conductive to communication. People tilt so much harder now I'm not really sure what's changed but at least back in seasons 3 and 4 you could calm folks down. Now it just seems people are spiteful and overly rude. "Inting" is a terrible term and overused to explain people making mistakes.

You aren't remotely bad though! You carried clash so hard and definitely still play like high gold low plat. The problem is probably adapting your play to silver teammates--for both you and Roz . You simply cannot expect people to pick up what you are putting down. If you are going to gank you have to ping 9,000,000 times because your team might not realize it and even then they might not follow up with the damage you expect given their level and items, cause they're just playing kinda weirdly. Basically you probably have to commit less unless it is very definitely a 1v1; you also can't expect your team to be smart about your split and likely need to group more than you would if you were playing optimally.
All this talk Bout strategy and clash? We all know it's more fun to just aram it.mid

To celebrate hitting silver and level 7 on Vel'koz a friend of mine sent me the definitely not vel'koz skin

Man, I keep saying I'm coming back to LoL, but I always just end up playing a handful of games and then falling off again.
I'm back again now, and this time, I've decided that I need to stop waffling and just pick a main.
My first love was Malphite. I don't know why I ever stopped playing him. I think I let myself get influenced by other players who basically don't see him as super "meta" so I keep trying to convince myself to try other champs, but I keep coming back to Malph.
Played a few bot games to practice, then played my first draft (non-ranked) game with him in the Jungle.
Only got an A-, but my team loved me! Every time I came in with an ult from off the side of a lane, I'd always get a bunch of happy emotes in response. Feels good man.
As a bonus, Malph can support and top too, so I feel like I can just one-trick him for a while and see how far I get.

Malphite is great and sunfire cape was just buffed so he is in a good spot.
I've got a friend who goes predator ap malphite in the jungle with ultimate hunter. 40 second CD ults with a lot of ap are terrifying

Oooh, I've been doing the more "typical" armor/cooldown build for him. What items does he go for? Zhonya's?

Sometimes I'm glad there exists the post-game lobby
My trash vayne (why is it always vayne?) was complaining after the loss
Complained that she got a Vel'Koz supp
And the enemy team said "Who outperformed you"
Oh that takes the sting outta the loss it does

Kinda depends what's going on with the rest of your team but I think Vel'koz is a good support for Vayne during lane phase (not so much later). When I support Vayne, I like to play strong strong poke champs that can give Vayne the pressure and space to farm safely, since her early lane is just so garbage. Vel'koz is great for this, as is Karma (Karma also lets the Vayne feel like you are trying to help her with the shield). If the Vayne is definitely a smurf, I'm willing to play engage champs, but otherwise I assume that she is going to lose hard and needs the support to 1v2 the lane until at least level 6.
There is something a little selfish in choosing Vel'koz support, in that you are creating for other people the obligation to peel for you in teamfights without creating tons of peel yourself--but I primarily play mage supports, too, and believe in playing selfish supports if that's where your heart takes you.
Also Vaynes are the most toxic of adcs aside from Dravens--this is anecdotal, but at some point they actually did release data showing assassin mains were more toxic than other people, and Vayne mains were more toxic than other adcs
To change gears a bit, what all stat sites do people use to track their performance? I check League of Graphs and Na.op.gg, but I'm not familiar with the one Munkus' screenshots come from.

It's Blitz. It's a program that recommends builds and automatically sets my runes up for whatever champ.
EDIT: No joke, without blitz I probably would have stopped playing because of all the time spent looking up what runes to put in for whatever champ I happened to be playing.

I'm curious about blitz because I've been using a similarly described program called Overwolf and I definitely have my complaints
In other news, Warwick cares not if a midlane goes afk at ten minutes. He will still straight up dump on everyone and take objectives until his Jinx gets fed and takes over.

Really ? I find runes are pretty simplistic most the time. Especially compared to the old rune + mastery system. Man, thinking about it, if feels so archaic (sp?) The old system.

Even if i knew exactly what I wanted, it's way easier to swap around the runes via blitz than via the client. And just because the current system is better than the old and absolutely horriblely

designed system that used to be there doesn't mean there's no room to improve. And seeing the most common vs highest WR picks on runes and items is really insighful.
Blitz has helped me know what areas I can improve on, especially in long games where I might forget the mistakes I had made during the match. Like if my vision score was too low or if my mid-game CS was bad or how I did in gold generation compared to my opponent.
And as a new player blitz is invaluable in letting me know how enemy champions work and little tips/tricks on what to do against them. You know, since the game is uninterested in giving you that information readily. You can also check the enemy WR as you're going into the game and have a good idea about whether or not you're about to play a smurf or not
EDIT One of the bigger weaknesses of blitz is that it lacks some of the details of advanced stats, like I can't really see my true damage dealt stat or my CC score.

This was the matchup. It was the enemy twitch that gave me props, and that meant something because he was the dude who was constantly having to deal with my poke and setups and could see how vayne fed him pretty early on pretty fast. I started dying while trying to protect the vayne during one of her poorly conceived all-ins after dying twice already and then later after vayne had fed him about four kills....and been unable to finish off the multiple multiple times I landed my combo or had the enemy team perfectly setup and in critical HP.
One thing I have noticed about vel'koz is that while his self-peel isn't that great his disengage/team peel is pretty amazing. I've kinda learned that I want to be up against a Nautilus in bot lane so I can poke him out and deny him most meaningful engagements.

When I look at that matchup, I feel like the enemy team has a much better comp. To break down why I get that sense:
1. They have a very strong front-to-back teamfight that's really easy to execute on. They have 3 strong frontliners (who also do decent damage) so one of them can peel for Twitch while a couple of them dive. They also have good engage (leo ult, ww ult, shen taunt) while your engage is just 'Voli runs at them or Camille dives in headfirst'
2. Your team's win conditions are confusing and difficult. I think in order to win, Camille needs to get ahead and be an unstoppable split pusher, and she splits and then Kha'zix (who also has to be ahead) runs around in the jungle trying to catch people out when they rotate to stop Camille. But somehow Vel'koz has to place the wards enabling this without getting caught out and dying. This might be fine if it were a 5man group on voice comms but in soloQ it's often hard to make this work.
3. You have no clear winning lanes. If you are relying on a snowball+splitpush+pick comp, you need someone to get ahead, but who is Kha'zix supposed to gank for here, and do any of the lanes win naturally? Not really, I think.
4. They have an assassin and you have no traditional peel. When Talon decides to kill Vel'koz or Vayne, what happens? Probably he gets to do that and maybe someone from your high-damage team kills him afterwards but maybe he just ults and parkours away.
I'm not really sure what you as support can do in this situation (or when you got to pick in the pick order). Maybe pick someone who feels more disengage? As Vel'koz you can lay down covering fire as a deterrent, but I mean stronger disengage/protection that that, more cc than your very small knockup. Maybe something like Lulu to keep Vayne from getting assassinated or to help your team survive through these fights (which involves trusting that Vayne isn't the worst, which, bleh)
Just played an S- game on morg where I basically followed around my kog and exhausted zed when he dove and black shielded him when Malph and Zac landed on him
In lobby at the end he says work on my macro and that I suck “learn to play with your adc”
??????????? I did exactly what I supposed to with a kog he went like 16-4 ??????????

I appreciate your feedback, it's good information for me to work on. Right now I have no idea what really makes a good comp and knowing that there were these issues helps so much with figuring it out.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Comp is always difficult because often you can feel as though you properly assessed the opposing team and made the "right" choice that benefits the group, even if it comes at the cost of your personal enjoyment, and still lose. If you struggle or people just don't perform their roles correctly (a common occurrence in lower Elos) it feels like a wasted game.
When I coach new players I tell them to try a bunch of different champs when they start out until they find one that clicks. Then play the heck out of that champ until you start to stall or can't climb. Then repeat the process. It's ok to lose games so long as the goal is individual improvement. Over time you will get better, and eventually you'll go from treading water to bursting through multiple ranks.

As one player, there's only so much you can do to fix a teamcomp--as support you do have more flexibility than most (mage! defense tank! offense tank! shield!) but sometimes your teamcomp is just so fucked/theirs is just so good that your choice isn't really going to redeem it or fix the problem. But then again, every game is imperfect and winning your lane when the matchup is 'supposed to' be lost or to be even can absolutely make up for a difficult comp, as can good teamplay and map awareness.
I gained a few lp this weekend and then played a game where we were even in kills and a bit ahead in farm, reasonable teamcomp with good scaling, lost baron, even dragons, more turrets—and my (fed, winning) Morde top got angry and spammed surrender votes and then afk’ed in fountain and then we lost.
!!! Why!!!
It was far less fun than the flex game I followed it with, where a wildly mismatched duo or trio brought me a carry Kalista and the most feeding maokai toplane I have ever seen (oh you have...9 cs and 4 deaths already........?) but the fed guy was Darius and I was lux and actually Nami and I were pretty good at keeping him from advancing during fights and it was just a really interesting setup for a game (we lost but it felt like an exciting and unique struggle)
Yep, they sure did throw Counterstrike and Overwatch into a blender there.
I genuinely wasn't expecting the combination to be so blatant. Like, holy shit Riot.
Because Overwatch was a bastion of “original ideas.” :P
I’m definitely curious to what they are doing with it. It’s not like there’s been any CS-style games coming out recently, I think it’s safe to revisit the idea but with new tech.
They also mentioned on Twitter that performance is supposed to be one of their big targets, so that you could actually have it run well on older machines. In the age of “big shiny textures and giant downloads,” that is kind of refreshing?

In lobby at the end he says work on my macro and that I suck “learn to play with your adc”
??????????? I did exactly what I supposed to with a kog he went like 16-4 ??????????
omg he died FOUR times why didn't you block the enemy autoattacks with your body smh uninstall

I appreciate your feedback, it's good information for me to work on. Right now I have no idea what really makes a good comp and knowing that there were these issues helps so much with figuring it out.
I know that feeling. Take a break and then dive back in once you're calmer imo.

And they just dropped a new alpha gameplay video with it’s real name.
