curious to see what other dogs they print in this set, because there are currently 6 total in Standard, so any Dog Tribal (or Dog Cat tribal) is going to be built mostly on what's in M21 and later sets
core sets are notorious for funny lords that get people's hopes up only to print a couple cards tops that go with it to varying degrees of quality so I'm not getting too excited yet
I think that's wise. If Dog tribal were a huge component of the set, then pack leader would probably be an uncommon instead of a rare.
there's a card called liliana's scrounger i nthe planeswalker deck that could actually be somewhat playable. it only saying liliana planeswalkers and the existence of cat/oven makes it trivial to activate it.

wow, that... really is just the two cards mashed together
The reveal video was Dana Fischer basically going "I think Llanowar elves are neat, and Elvish Visionary is neat, so how about we just put them both together", which amused me.

Better also have a nifty board wipe for the sudden 4 2/2 zombos
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

When Amonkhet remastered is released, We might see a good Mono Black Control shell in historic again.

If they get four zombies, that means you made them exile four cards from hand T3. So you're probably fine.
except it exiles from graveyard and library too, so if you called "Winota" and they hadn't drawn her yet, that's 4 2/2 zombs and nothing lost from hand

But it only creates zombies off of cards exiled from their hand.

Actually it's all 4 copies gone and zero 2/2 zombies (it makes 1 per card exiled from hand, not the deck or yard)
Cards that exile all copies of a certain card from the game (Unmoored Ego, Lost Legacy) almost always have a rider to prevent them from being incidental discard; they're supposed to be narrow sideboard cards, not "well I can get rid of the best card from their deck and maybe get a Discard 2 out of it". Necromentia is just unique that instead of drawing a card (the obvious, totally equivalent rider), they make a zombie, which makes it far stronger against control matchups since your removal is probably dead anyway.

This is a recent thing. I believe Lost Legacy was the first such design.
Cranial Extraction, Memoricide, Thought Hemorrhage, and Slaughter Games (my favorite since it was uncounterable) were more straight-forward but also 4 mana. The newer ones are all CMC3.
It can also nuke the new companion rule if anyone still bothers. Ultimate feels bad to pay 3 to grab it then get it turned into a zombie before you cast it.

At a slight mana discount, at least (2G vs 1GG)?
ramp and draw, gives you a body
S Tier
Rin and Seri, Inseparable
Pack Leader
D Tier
Everything else
Only mistake is not being 1GG, but for limited reasons I understand not committing 100% to the card mashup.

I need to pull the better updated version of it out of my decklist though
I appreciate the effort that went into selecting Arcane Flight — a card not even in Standard currently — as the deckbox.
Had to; Swallow Whole- ing flyers was too much fun.
