Hell yeah. Numero Uno DV rank attained. Finally got the last bit of oomph I needed to perfect it and finish the event off. After a heartbreaking 2.14 billion being off by mere millions I bit the bullet and UoCed my way to two Force Mysterion materia because magic killers just have to go and be annoying as hell to dig up. With that though rolled in with NV Aerith, AoD Kuja, WC Ace, NVA Loren, and MMXon as a light squad and proceeded to melt that bastard Diabolos and be done.
Nice big sigh of relief. Thanks for the inspiration with your strat @Lorek helped a bunch to clear my head on it a little and find something that would work with my resources.
Not taking damage basically boils down to having an evade provoke unit and then making sure everyone has 100% to the two elements the boss does after buffs. Sometimes an AoE mirage for the party. And then killing it on or before turn 3.
I've not touched any of the DVs at this point even though I'm fairly confident I could stomp them with my unit and gear selections. Each time I load into that screen I take a look around and just go "nope"
I hate setting up parties in this game as it seems to always take hours.
Sometimes get caught up in the good luck instead of treating it like a casino and knowing when to walk away lol. So given my good luck yesterday, I may have stupidly did the NV step up hoping for another Aerith so I could use her. As expected, not a single NV. Though I'll take the 2nd Nagi STMR, definitely wasn't worth the 14k lapis. Good thing we have more world revisit quests haha.

I also didn't get any NVs, and only like 7 rainbows.
On the other hand those rainbows involved fourth copies of Elena, Rivera, Palom&Porom, and Mediena, which is an improbable number of STMrs, a couple of which look extremely good, so, you know, silver linings. Though I dunno if I actually have cactuars for all of them!

Not going to lie, the first time setting up for DV is a pain. But once done, having teams saved for various elemental weaknesses makes it very easy to do on subsequent ones. The fact that loading a team also loads the gear properly is mighty helpful.
decided to use my last Lapis for 3 steps of the NV Banner. I figure the thing I need more than the next "meta" NV unit is some of these STMRs I'm 1 copy away from.
NV Elena 3, Ifrit Rain 1, Ignis 2, Zach 1, Citra 5, Edel 1, Kurasame 1 (which would have been great if I didn't already have Upgrade Package and Ravenhart)

The DV weapons are great when you just need flat ATK or MAG, but oftentimes there will be a weapon with killers/LB damage/whatever that you would rather have

Yeah I missed that one so I’ve just never really missed it. For units like Elena using Honorable Rod Arts has been more than sufficient and don’t completely waste the slot either with additional MAG+30%
It's best use is that it combine 'equip item' with boosts. Feels like I ran into some older unit that couldn't equip shields and I wanted to use moogle plushie. But it's really niche and I'm not sure I'd use Omni + STMR moogle for it unless there is a specific fight that you need those equips.
There are also multiple sources of shield equip, both for light and heavy shields (Equip L/H shield materias, and then Shield Gauntlet accessory for H shields from a Fat Chocobo shop, and Guardian Visor accessory for L shields as Laytl's TMR).
Upgrade Package ALSO allows use of Whips, and Quistis' STMR whip is one of our precious few MAG TDW sources, so that could come in handy.
DV finished. I could go through and improve some scores, but I just don't care enough. Sub 5k, but I'm sure that'll get bumped up pretty fast.

Post on Reddit as well has a turn by turn table if so desired, added display of equipment and abilities to the start of the video for additional reference.
If nothing else, it shows a successful AR chain that can be done manually so might have some niche value there too.
Farmed up another 5k. Don't know if I want to just do the last NV Step and wait for a way to get 20 more Elena shards later, or buy the Elena bundle to EX2 her for her STMR.

Yeah I remain super annoyed I have only a single copy of her. A lot of trials would have been much easier with her kit too that I had to improvise on.
I was close to UoCing her and STMR ticketing it since it was BIS for Xuan for a long time. Of course now that Xuan is riding the pine, I get a couple more of her.
I was trying to get people I have three copies of awakened to 7* while the half gil thing was going on, so I don't have to do it later for double the money when I draw that fourth copy, but I actually ran out of non-maxed cactuars.

It's a little energy intensive, but if you have the pots for it, throw a bunch of bonus XP gear and use the chamber of experience. It's like 2 runs to go from 0 to 80 and 3 or 4 to go from 0 to 100.

NV Gabranth from the free weekly, which thankfully let me do the FFXII minitrial thingy, albeit in 17 turns. Turns out I'll have to do that 3 more times if I want to make the Sword it drops :? Which would go really really well with Nyx's Dagger on my new Gabranth. bluuuh

News included another step up banner thing for Monday. I think I've read it right that the whole thing is guaranteed 5*s and NVs (so mostly 5*s), as well as a 50% trust moogle and some UoC tickets (5, I think). 4.5k Lapis for one run, 9 total guaranteed 5*-NV units, trust moogle and UoC tickets. You can do it twice, too, so 9k Lapis for 18 total 5*-NV units, two 50% trust moogles (we get a lot of of regular trust moogles) and 10 UoC tickets (which can help get an STMR or NVA).
That seems like a pretty good value, if I'd read it right. Better than that last step up thing, at least.

Yeah I'll pass. I bit on the last one and got screwed. As much as I'd love a complete Aerith for DV, RNG will just have to come through on the dailies or something.
I've made my peace with not being able to join everyone else in the #1 spot for DV. I just don't have the mage power required, and that's ok. I'm going back to my general "only pull hard on limited seasonal banners" rule. We may never get NV safety nets (they took them away again in JP for the latest banners) so if I'm gonna waste lapis I'm gonna waste it chasing cool sprites I like.
