If I am working on a cycling deck - is it weird to put in cards with cycling (like 1 mana cycling spells) of another color I don't have land for just to have more cycling cards? Which set(s) have alot of cycling cards so I can buy those packs?

No. That's totally normal.
Ikoria is the set you want.
I had a RW cycling deck with blue 1 mana cycling cards. Zenith flare is the card the whole deck hinges on.

Yea I had three and was interested in building around them.
Dimir rogue decks running wild right now. Maybe marginally less good but a lot of counter spells are 2 blue and thats a little rough for the cycling deck to splash imo.
Built a pretty fun Golgari Deck with the new Nissa. She requires the Fabled Lands to get some stuff off, but she's a tonne of fun!

You want zero non-cycling cards outside of lurrus for mainboard.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Im not rewlly sure about the appeal of lurrus in that deck

Yeah, it's just there as a backup plan since it's relative cost to have it as a companion is pretty small, given what the deck does. What cycling cards would you want that are excluded because they're bigger permanents? I haven't actually looked at what that would even open up as options in a while, though I was just thinking about it the other day since Lurrus doesn't actually come out too often.

I saw a deck that splashed green for the big green cycler that gives a creature trample when cycled. That seemed interesting.

I think Yidaro, Wandering Monster was designed to be the other big win condition for cycling along with Zenith Flare, but it never really worked out. Probably because it cycles for 1R rather than 1.

I'm not sure if I have any Yidaro but I may give it a shot. The raptor enchantment did well for me, for a while. Iirc it's 5 mana; which is a bit steep (I'm likely misremembering)
I was even toying with Unlikely Alliance for a bit as another way to add chump blockers. Nothing has really stuck

Did that 0/4 that bolts when you draw a second card rotate?

No, Irencrag Pyromancer is an Eldraine card.

I'm excited for quick draft to rotate. I think I'm going spend some time practice drafting, and then try this whole real drafting thing again.
"I will write your name in the ruin of them. I will paint you across history in the color of their blood."
I'm not sure why people run Lurrus in cycling, when you could run Zirda instead.
I think Cycling is an activated ability, and really I can't see a scenario where pulling a dead dude back while waiting for your Flare makes much sense.
Better to go with the bigger body that makes cycling cheaper, unless you need lifelink for some reason
That reduction only works when Zirda is on board, and can't lower cost below 1. The idea behind Lurrus isn't to get him out, he's not even a necessary component, it's a backup plan given how easily cycling can experience disruption from their intended plan.
Sometimes you need to win by generating a lot of value on board instead.
How does Lurrus do that when all your foxes are already dead and so you're breaking the glass?
Clearly the other deck is good at removing threats already.
And does Lurrus help if your plan is not working because of graveyard hate?

The most common things I see returned with Lurrus in that deck are Stingers and the dude who makes tokens.

If there's a lot of removal, then no Lurrus isn't likely to stick around for long, but can still get you back 1-2 creatures you lost / cycled already, which can make a world of difference. There's only so much either side can do in a single game with a 60 card deck.
I guess I just got annoyed when Lurrus was revealed and then I was playing another cycling deck.
And then my Lurrai recurred removal onto theirs.
I guess it might work against some aggro deck that has board advantage, and has just been forcing trades to kill the cycle creatures, rather than having removal.

Both Lurrus and Zirda are pretty marginal in the deck, but Lurrus is slightly more likely to grind out a game and turn a loss into a win whereas Zirda is often just a bad call — if you have three mana and a choice between cycling three times and putting Zirda in hand, cycling is almost certainly correct.

For counterspells I assume?
yeah some mystical disputes do a lot of work against a control deck that would pick off or counter your zenith flares
they seemed like a Uro counter primarily

Most counterspells are blue, so it's effectively U: counter target spell unless it's controller pays 3 against those
It's amazing how quickly you can chew down your opponent if you get 2 Drannith Stingers going.
It's a deck that uses life as a resource. The life gain from Zenith Flare can keep you going for 1-2 more turns that you can use to dig to a wincon.
I've played my deck a ton if you want any specific tips.
I only play Bo1 though so I haven't messed with sideboarding. That being said, you want to keep non-cycling cards to an absolute minimum.
I usually see people run it in the companion slot because it allows recursion of their biggest threats and it doesn't mess with the tempo of the deck.
I rarely see it actually get cast, but it's there as a "in case of emergency, break glass" scenario.
Say more please. I see those Trostani Mentors and oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh.

Yidaro also works cross purposes with flare
