David gave fatal brain contusions to Goliath with a sling I believe

This myth was translated into Irish mythology where the old king Conchobar mac Nessa was killed by the petrified brain of a saint launched from a sling, it lodged in his skull but didnt kill him and his doctors didnt want to remove it and when he heard about the death of Christ he got so mad the petrified brain burst out of his brain and he died

Pretty obviously some older story got Christianed up cause that timeline of events is pretty nutty

Luckily the Pope showed the Cathars how cool and good the world and God is by uh torturing them all to death even unto the little children

There’s probably a little worth watching in season 3 (plus good use of mountain goats) but yeah I bet it does not hold up.

moral orel absolutely holds up, but your mileage will vary on the earlier stuff based on just how religious your upbringing was

the final season is still an undeniable masterpiece

Good to hear, I haven’t revisited since it aired and always assume stuff from that time frame might not work today.

I remember that last season where Orel and the town actually started to change being very good at the time.

alex on the beastcast agrees with my "bullshit vs horseshit" ranking

horseshit is more emphatic and vulgar

it's the 'orse' I think, you can put a lot of emphasis on that syllable

    this is horseshit

bullshit is said as you make a kind of chopping motion with your hand, as though throwing the bullshit to the side.

horseshit is said while you are pointing directly at the person responsible for the horseshit.

In Geoffrey Keating's 17th century Foras Feasa ar Éirinn (or 'History of Ireland') in 'An Account of the Death of Connor, King of Ulster' he records the background of the tradition, and a Christianised tale relating to it. According to Keating it was the custom during the period described in the Ulster Cycle for a victorious champion to take the brains of a defeated adversary, and make a ball of them, by mixing it with lime, followed by drying in the sun - such a ball was displayed at important events.
