Season 1 of TLA is real rough in no small part due to the voice actors being pretty bad. The VA for Aang is terrible to start but improves IMMENSELY as the series goes on. And you have a lot of cliche even at the time tropes, like Sokka being "girls can't fight! I'm a boy, boys fight!"
One of Avatar's strengths is that characters grow and change. It's extremely daring - and refreshing - to put that kind of storytelling in what is essentially a kid's show. And that is what makes it good for all audiences.
I like all of Korra. The villains are all really good and have believable motives. Season 1 has a very interesting conspiracy plot, and the pro bending is cool as hell. Season 2 introduces Varrick/Zhu Li and the movers, the creepy twins, has a ballin' cameo in the spirit world, and the consequences of the plot aren't just swept under the rug. Season 3 has some of the best action, and I felt that Season 4 really earned being the end of the series with all the plots converging and the characters becoming more complete people.
Season 1 of TLA has the first Boomie episode though so A+
Boomie was a really weird choice for Aang to name is kid after.
They moistly come out at night, moistly.

Not going to link to it because of forum rules, but I just found out there's a kickstarter running for an Avatar tabletop RPG right now, google finds it just fine if anyone else is curious.
Oh right, forgot. The Netflix series the creators have washed their hands of keeps on trucking, and they've cast the gaang (minus Toph). At least they're all Asian. They've also revealed the directors, showrunners, etc.

It was announced as a retail product with 2 expansions planned initially so I'm not sure why the Kickstarter is a thing.

Because it's a lot easier to pay for a production line if you've got thousands of fans footing the bill instead of prying money out of the actual company that's going to be selling it?
I mean, I agree with you, this isn't what Kickstarter should be used for. I hate the ideas of preorders too. But they're here, and the idea of preorders (even preproduction preorders) isn't going away.
On the other hand I am interested in an Avatar TTRPG book, and have had pretty good luck with Kickstarters in the past.
That said, can someone come over and take away my computer before I do something stupid?

Sorry for the pedantic post, but Aang and Zuko's actors are Asian. Sokka and Katara's are Indigenous NA.

Don't apologize! That's a great point, and my fault for skimming.

When I was talking to my Casting teacher at film school about the issues with the casting in TLA, she had mentioned that while it's almost impossible to find Inuit actors (let alone ones in the appropriate age range), it would be be far easier to find a pair from amongst the dozens of of northern first nations who could pass for it.

Also this is less of a challenge when you consider that they only need to find a handful of good actors, not an entire city. You don't need millions in your pool to find one or two people.
Er, you talking about cast themselves or the photo's coloring?
Sokka's actor apparently isn't actually First Nations of any sort. Or at least it's dubious. I Stand a little corrected on Aang, he's Euro Filipino so I need to eat my thoughts/words there. The other two I have/had no complaints with. Probably a little burned after the MNight garbage fest.
Pretty sure every fan's traumatized with how very, very, very badly Shyamalan fucked up every single aspect of the show.
Given the creators basically bowed out of the Netflix show I'm not too hopeful about this one, either.
At this point I'm pretty sure it's just going to be bad and I'm girding myself against the inevitable deluge of people being shitty to child actors over a television show.
But hey, I could be wrong. I was very wrong about the Spider-Verse animated movie when I first heard about it, so fingers crossed I'm wrong again.
I mean it's possible the only reason the creators bowed out is because Nickelodeon approached them with the offer to run an entire studio?
I'm definitely staying wary, though. Netflix's live-action Cowboy Bebop looked promising, but then the show itself it - whoof.
As I remember it, they left because the show wasn't going in the direction they would have wanted to take it. They stayed remaining optimistic as the Netflix vision could be could still. Probably a good idea for fans of the classic to temper expectations a bit, and see if their hearts have space to love two versions in a best cast scenario.
Contrast that with the live action movie where they just stopped talking about the project all together. I think they even said they did not feel the same way about the Netflix project as they did the M. Night. So plenty of hope it will clear that very low bar at the least.

To be fair Sokka actually learned he was wrong.
Boomie was a really weird choice for Aang to name is kid after.
Why? They were extremely close friends for the formative years of Aang's life and then again afterwards.
Nevermind, I was thinking of something else.
I want you to know that I mean this in the most loving way possible
but okay Bumi
Sparky Sparky Boom Man?

This is on top of a TV series and possibly a CG thing.
Yeah, I'm just curious. I think my preferences are slightly towards Korra. But brand new characters would also be good.
It's the whitewashing of the cast.

I will cautiously remain in view of your optimism until you see it.

Because yeah: If you told me that the script for MNS's disasterpiece was an early AI generated script I'd absolutely believe you.
