Inbreeding will do that to a royal line
Ever seen an Elephant with a Hapsburg Jaw?
A gomphotherium is an elephant, and has a real long lower jaw.

They rule through their king, Babar

Elephants do rule.
Sounds like French propaganda to ruin the reputation of the local elephant anarcho-syndicalist commune and impose their own rule!
Hereditary monarchy?!
They will burn with the rest of us.

Not my best work but it supports the claim
