V had a troubled launch and a bit of an identity crisis. When the Pacific theater launched, it was hella awesome. Then, again, the identity crisis happened with the TTK update. After that was reverted, V was (again) fuckawesome. Honestly, 1 and V are really solid Battlefield games and I still like dipping back into them every now and then.
For comparison, I have to remind myself that I actually own BF2042.

People still pre-ordering Battlefield games as if they don't consistently launch broken are due for some negative reinforcement. Come on now.
I have zero sympathy for the people who keep preordering this shit and reinforcing EA's bad behavior.
Don't. Fucking. Preorder. No game is ever going to offer more as a preorder bonus than it's worth if the game is a piece of shit, and EA is never going to stop this practice of "release broke, fix if it holds interest" as long as people keep preordering games.
BF1 made me tear up with the music and the narrator talking about the history sections you unlock. That's completely separate from the actual shooting of players, too.
I played BF1, but wish I had played it more. I didn't know what was to come..

I think the saddest part is that Battlefront 2 had turned itself around and was doing really well, was just starting to get some good press and people returning to it, when EA killed the team and put the game on maintenance mode to shift resources to trying to pull 2042 together into the mess it is today.
I love them and am happy to see they got their series back from the pit it was trapped in when Machinima died.
They have all previous seasons up and in order on their channel.
The main thing they're missing is the first season of Mob Squad. Apparently, Machinima is taking that one to their grave.

Ah, Neebs. Pity EA decided to just utterly crater the franchise they got started on, but I watched their Subnautica series and they definitely didn't need Battlefield to make great stuff.
Although I suppose they can pull content from BF1 and V if they need it.
Eh, part of their thing is that they made fun of a common experience for a lot of people and I don't think the Battlefield franchise has had those numbers since, oh, Battlefield 4? BFV is only just barely in the top 50 and is less than a third of, say, Rainbow Six Siege, even though that's been bleeding players for a couple years now.
Which is not to say BFV isn't worth playing, just that Neebs would do a lot better picking other games.
Although I suppose they can pull content from BF1 and V if they need it.
They didn't much care for 1 or V, which is the one of the more major reasons why they pretty much stopped making Battlefield content.
Which probably reflects how a lot of their viewers felt. I've tried BFV and I just cannot muster any interest in using such old-as-fuck weapons and gear, even if the game looks gorgeous.

The bummer is they couldn't make episodes for 1 because they didn't have the rights to BFF when it came out.
V, they just bounced off. So they waited for the next "modern" game and whelp.
Even if they didn't have the BFF rights when it came out, they stopped actively making content using in-game footage. Their No HUD Hank series was short-lived, and they even stopped their Top 20 Clips in 2017 (not to return until 2019 with BF5).
I mainly just remember one of their podcasts where they just flat out said that they didn't enjoy BF1...so why would they make content for a game they didn't like?Huh...I completely misremembered the podcast. Went back and rewatched it and it sounded like they liked BF1 fine enough...but they didn't get into it until later in the game's life cycle. By the time they got around to wanting to make content in BF1, they felt like they'd "missed the boat."

I'm still enjoying the game well enough :0 Looking forward to the patch this month w/ voice chat and a bunch of bug fixes.
By my reading the vehicle rebalance is coming with the April patch as well. I’m torn on that. Putting Bolte/Nightbird in with attack vehicles makes some sense…they aren’t transports and don’t function well as transports…but this means now we have three aircraft (attack chopper, nightbird, jet) competing for two actual vehicle spawn slots? So I’ll never get to Nightbird again.
The game is still fun as shit when you can get into a string of populated matches and the jank doesn’t get in the way too much. Hot take but I like the game still and I hope…I know this is unlikely…but I hope Season 1 can maybe breathe some life into the player base.
Yeah, that'd be nice. I haven't been able to find a Hazard Zone match in ages. I pretty much exclusively play Breakthrough these days which is usually fun. I do think helicopters are a bit OP, though, if the pilot's really good with them. Like, most maps you're able to run in, do a bunch of damage, pop flares, then leave the area of operations behind cover til your flares recharge.
One final piece of news for you to take away from today’s video - we’re winding down future development on Hazard Zone. All of us on the team had great ambition and high hopes for this new Battlefield experience throughout our development, but we’re the first to hold our hands up and acknowledge that it hasn’t found the right home in Battlefield 2042 and that we’ll benefit greatly from letting our focus and energy stay on the modes we see you engaging most with.
Hazard Zone will stay as part of the experience, we’re not switching it off, but beyond addressing critical errors and odd behaviors that may appear in the future, we’re no longer actively developing new experiences or content for the mode, and you’ll find that maps that we release across our seasons will not be supported in Hazard Zone.
So hey, I've been playing this (2042) over the Christmas break since there was a 75% off sale.
I guess classes are back? Specialists are still in, but each has been assigned a role as Assault, Engineer, Support, or Recon. Of your three gadgets, one is determined by your specialist (your unique ability like Casper's drone, Lis guided missile, etc.), one is a flex slot for your class gadgets, and the final slot is determined by your class (Recon gets spawn beacon, engineer gets repair tool, support has defibs, etc.) You can still use any gun, but each class has a benefit to a particular class to prod you in that direction (recons have infinite scope steady with snipers and a quicker swap to secondaries, Engineers have higher accuracy with LMGs while crouched or prone, etc.)
Overall I've been having a lot of fun, definitely more than The Finals.
The one thing I remain suspect of is the role of LMGs in 2042. Without the Suppression effect they had in the previous games, I'm just not sure why they even have the bipod for long range/countering snipers. Every time I've tried, the sniper is usually able to dome me, because oh boy an LMG with a deployed 'pod, stone still, is like candy to them. That, of course, is when I don't immediately get vaped by every enemy within 100m because letting loose with one exposes your position like you're lighting up a goddamn flare. I can't wait to unlock some f***ing barrels to maybe reduce trace rounds.
I've had much more success with Casper and running an SMG while defending objectives. Between the TUGS and his drone, it's much easier to pick up tons of assists and points. Unfortunately all the spotting in the world doesn't help any if your teammates seem allergic to glancing in the lower left of their screen.
Oh yeah and the "cringe" lines after the matches are done. You get a splash screen of the best squad, then your squad, detailing your best stats for that round.
Yeah they did a ton of updating about a year ago, game is in a far better state. Downright playable.
I still think suppression is missed, both in making support/LMG relevant and taming snipers. If I wanted to play COD I’d play COD. Also I don’t know if new maps have improved things but the mobility characters still eliminate any semblance of a front line. It feels “more like battlefield,” but it’s still just off.
And the original sin of having the same toons for both teams was never gonna get undone, it’d be far too much work.

Never got to play much of the Russian dlc stuff in 1. Hopefully there's enough of a player base to find a full server on xbox.

Years.
Appsro even commented that the more broken the better for their purposes.
Yeah, but people have to actually play the game to get the jokes. Ain't a lot of a players left at this point and its only been 4 months.
