Ah yes, the realization that if someone is determined to take whatever you say or do in the most negative possible light, the only winning move is to stop bothering to interact with them.
I dunno, Tales looked pretty good IMO, but yeah, the graphics in Escape were ass, which is only one of the many reasons it's the worst Monkey Island game.
I really like the new art, especially in motion.
That timeline reminds me that the art of the SE of MI1 is just...ugh. Give those games to Double Fine and let them remaster them the right way goddamnit

It reminds me a lot of what the land of the living looks like (a weird cubist nightmare) in Grim Fandango. And I'm totally here for it, and yes, it looks better in motion.
Twisp and catsby was reacting to “you can’t criticize me”. This is reacting to “you can criticize me once the game is out, but even then I’m not gonna hear it”
I don't like it, at all. But that's just it. Not gonna hate on anyone for that.
Don't personally care for the artstyle from what I've seen from screenshots myself either. Just don't feel the need to invest the energy into being a complete prat about it, (like so many shirtbirds on twitter apparently have) not like there isn't plethora of other games I can buy and play instead.

I loved that part in Fandango as well
Like, a new MI coming out is such a cool thing, but nooo, assholes can't just be appreciative, it's gotta 100% cater to their...I don't even want to call it artistic sensibilities, because that's just knee-jerk bs for the most part I bet. UGH, fuckin' people.

Yeah, it's not just a new Monkey Island, it's a new Monkey Island by Ron Gilbert! The fact that this game is coming out is a goshdang miracle, I'm willing to forgive it for not being exactly as I dreamed.

As always, the worst part of a fandom is the fans.

For anyone not familiar, here is the "horrific" art for the new game:
And here is Guybrush through the ages:
It's good art, but it is very stylized, so I can get that quite a few people bounced off of it. I'm not crazy about it myself, but I completely missed the boat on this series, so that doesn't count for much. Anyway, if people don't like it that's fine, but they should just let it go. Don't harass the studio or artists.
Looking at that timeline, I can say that the first two were fine for pixel art, 3 wasn't great but I've seen clips of the game on YouTube and it looked better in motion than still images. 2000 and the second 2009 are bleh, but the first 2009 and 2010 look pretty great to me.
I think what puts most people off are the proportions. Even when the style changed, see picture "1990-2010" Guybrush is approx 6 heads tall (you can fit his head ~ six times in his body). In the new installment its like one and 1/2 heads.
And I must admit the new simple style is something I wouldn't associate with Monkey Island. Monkey Island 1 and 2 were for me that incredible adventure which put as much details as possible with the limited Amiga / PC resolution.
Well, I reserve my judgement when the game is out and finished.

There has been at least one Monkey Island where his head took up more than half the height of his body:

That's part of a fairly brief sequence in The Curse of Monkey Island (1997) where Guybrush is transformed into a child and has to break the spell to continue.

I dunno; if the richest Twitter troll apparently can't buy Twitter, what chance do we have?

Ron Gilbert's closing his blog and stepping away
Is that true?
I wasn't aware that was something a person could do
