Yeah I love it though. These Zelda playthroughs are my favorite because they usually shoot the shit while wandering around and having Arin do dumb shit lol
I don't think 'dude hit a home run' is a wholly accurate description for that bomb from Julio. If you like a good THWOCK from a purely struck ball, this is up your alley.
Watching the Mariners farm system get ranked higher and higher from 2020-21 until they drop off the chart entirely
Did we make a big trade or just pull a bunch of guys up
I don’t follow the team all that closely
Most of the team is from their farm system aside from the create a player in real life that is Julio. Like the majority of their pitching staff is from the minors.

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
They also leading up to last years return to the play offs, and this year have started to make trades of some of that farm system to try and maintain a decent team. Like to compare it to the griffey mariners of the 90s, this is like a 93 or 94 style mariners team, and less the felix "please guys just get the man to the play offs you monsters" teams.
Even still they have some pretty solid players still in that farm system, this year alone has shown with how they dipped in to find an arm, they still have some useful guys there.

I saw a question about the Mariners farm system and a Preacher reply and thought I was gonna have to counteract a wave of pessimism but no that's all pretty much true.
Speaking of which Preacher you wanna re-up our Mariners playoff bet? I don't have the optimism of last year but fuck it I can donate some money. I know there's some bad news about working conditions at Trevor Project but I'm sure we could find another good charity.
Sure why not, I wasn't aware Trevor Project had some shittyness pop up that's a damn shame. We'll work out who to send what when that comes.

If nothing else, the Grumps playthrough of TotK really makes me wonder how many people miss or forget some basic game mechanics. It's one thing to watch a playthrough where someone doesn't abuse the shit out of flurry rush or constantly dropping strong monster parts to fuse to weapons, but it's quite another to watch a playthrough where someone doesn't know they can use the D-pad to quick-swap weapons, or that they can throw items without attaching them to an arrow.
But it's been very enjoyable regardless. In many cases, it's enjoyable because of Arin's fumbling around.

I played softball here 1 season.
I hated it.
Every took it way too seriously. I just wanted to have fun and people are out there treating it like it’s the fucking World Series

No matter how many bases I could have taken I always stopped at first. Fuck running. I’m going to stretch a double to a single all day.
Yeeeeahhhh…I don’t want to talk about the time I strained both of my quads legging out a double…
Oh god are you me? I did a work softball league, everyone took it way too seriously, and after every game I had to like sit in a bath because my muscles were so aching from doing so little for so long.

I’ve discovered that unless you’re a professional athlete, once you hit 32 or so the words, “legging out” anything should be removed from your vocabulary

As much as I dislike him look at Bumgarner? You give him 400-500 ABs and I bet he puts up solid numbers
The thing is, a number of professional pitchers probably could hit well. It's not just ability, though, it's having the time to take batting practice, and work on your swing, and study opposing pitchers so you know what they might do. When you're being paid, primarily, to pitch, you're going to want to devote that time to working on your pitches and the other work it takes to be a great pitcher. Shohei also has an advantage in that he's seeing live MLB pitching much more regularly than the average pitcher used to. It's a lot easier to get adjusted to seeing a curveball when you're seeing one more often than every five days.
What he's doing hasn't ever really happened for a reason
Well hasn't happened recently. There were several Negro league pitchers who were lights out and good hitters as well.

Sure! That was a wildly different era of baseball, however. As great as those guys were, they probably weren't throwing 97 mph or attempting to hit 97 mph, either. Although, maybe they were. God knows that the Negro leagues weren't as well documented as MLB was, and the tech to record how fast people were throwing almost certainly wasn't available
Supposedly Satchel Paige could throw over 100, as you say they didn't have the tech, but he also when he got to the majors depending on who you ask was in his god damn 50s or 60s. Martin Dihigo was also similarly gifted. I mean its not impossible, the basic act of throwing a baseball isn't something that we've like made especially better in modern years beyond not running players into the ground and letting them snort coke like it was pixie sticks.

It occurs to me that counting Noah and Mio, there's still 7 amiibo to be released this year: Big Man and the other 2, Big tiddy Ganondorf, floating Zelda, and Noah and Mio. With this many, dare I hope that we're still going to get a few more, but that even Switch 2 might support them?
Kind of amazing that the toys-for-life biz cratered overall five years ago (if you count Starlink as the overall death point, but you could probably argue the decline was well under way sooner) and yet Amiibo are still going strong.

They make wonderful display pieces that happen to have nfc support. Better than a lot of the licensed junk out there.

That new games come out that support them probably does a bit of work too.
Yeah they’re all dumb tiny little functions, but every single one is a weird thing that makes me take the tiny little figures off a shelf for a second. I mean, ANY amiibo of ANY Zelda character grants me something fun in Tears of the Kingdom
amiibo arent even doing as well as they could be. like print the popular ones. sephiroth was sold out about 20 seconds after they went live everywhere. and there are some fire emblem ones i would like too. goomba and koopa troopa would be fun to have as well. and zelda stuff is immediately sold out everywhere too.
Probably not going to happen since the 47 zillion Animal Crossing Amiibo they put out sold terribly.
The good news is that Nintendo has regularly reprinted most of them, so if you're patient and willing to look you can probably find what you want eventually.

Was there a reason saucedo was that terrible? I know it was short notice after an injury, but it felt like Fernado rodney needing one out to close the GOD DAMN GAME!!! Bad.

I love that the baseball announcers just call all the bad calls out as being terrible and don't try to cover up terrible officiating like they will during Football broadcasts.
That last video is insane.
Probably because its hard to say it was a good call, like that pitch was god damn center cut. Like Bader literally was like "fuck you froze me." and the ump was all "nope ball". Was this the same game where the homeplate ump had to be overturned on calling a yankee safe when he was out?

Now I'm not going to say that baseball deserved what happened to it, but we don't know Julio's side of why he did what he did.

They could absolutely sell a mario, mallow and geno 3 pack
Would that make him the biggest WHAT IF? in history?
I always say it’s Mark Prior but Wander might top it even if the reason is MUCH more dubious
Well I meant he broke a record that existed for so long the team that the player was on doesn't exist anymore.
But point taken.

I really hope its not what it looks like Wander is/was a talented player.
