Question: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is at a DEEP discount on Xbox right now. I've heard that it had performance issues on the previous generation of hardware, but does anyone know if there are any problems on the Series X before I take the plunge?

it should be fine. most of the issue were with the switch port, honestly.

Great! Getting it, then.

Damn, so many good metroidvanias are made with Unity. This bullshit is bound to screw with development.

I'm suddenly glad I passed on that PG and MGEX because....
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A couple days ago, I checked with the store to verify my Konig Wolf pre-order was still good. My friend mentioned that it would be on the next HLJ shipment. I wasn't expecting that to come in today!
This... this right here... is something I've been waiting 20 years for. Well.. more realistically 15. Koenig wolf was one of the last Hasbro releases. It was a glorious sniper wolf ( ) that Hasbro didn't release the customize parts for over here. So I ordered them from Japan. One of my first ever large purchases.. the CPs were $125 total across 2 boxes.
In 2008, after University, I learned that Kotobukiya had started making highend master models. Hasbro was no longer releasing Zoids over here, but the idea of really high end models that were actually poseable? It was catnip to me. And there were.. a few that I really, REALLY wanted. Liger Zero, Berserk Fury, and Koenig Wolf.
The first two got made. Then, the HMM stuff REALLY slowed down because Takara/Tomy was making their own stuff, their own show, and all that. But then.. out of no where, a couple years ago.. they got the rights to sell these in the US. And since then? Well.. I've spammed all over these threads about my excitement.
I wasn't expecting how glorious the actual kits would be... but I do have teasers.
One very cool touch of the original was that it had belts that went between its head and legs. On the originals, these would often split. So I was curious if they were going to do them as individual belt pieces, or if they were going to mold them in soft rubber.
Soft rubber it is! And in this case, belts that are continuous! So instead of pulling and twisting, they'll just slide in the body somehow.
What about the weapons? The original CPs I paid $125 for were just insanely simple, though the sniper cannon had an awesome mechanic where it would rotate the barrels when you raked it. So what does the $50 CP kit here get?
Oh sure, the missiles are all one piece.. but THEY ARE STILL INDIVIDUAL!
*swoon*
My backlog has barely moved. I just am intimidating myself with the possibility of painting and doing things right. But my first truly panel lined kit was my original Koenig... so maybe I'll work on this next. Though I should finish my in progress models first...
Oh. and. other bits.
The Plamo Improvement Project stuff keeps coming out with cool bits. In this case, it's a holster that is specifically designed for modeling tools! While I have their earlier portable stand/cutting table, this is something I've been trying to find for a while. Cheap purchase overall, so we'll see if it holds up.
And I just had to get this set of advanced markers. Why? ... Hi-Nu purple, which I love. I was kind of dreading figuring out that coloration formula going forward. Of course, now I have to make a decision about getting the airbrush adapter/kit for gunpla markers...
Edit: A few days later (in case anyone actually looks at old posts)
Oh cool, the little square holder actually does squeeze and hold the bottle in place properly!

Woah! This is cool to see!
I noticed that the boxes on my new Koto kits had English on them - specifically California health safety warnings and that kind of thing. The manuals are still 100% Japanese, though.
This morning, I was idly passing time by looking at the manual through my Japanese filter, when I noticed some small text:
OMG thank you, Koto! While they don't have the newest kits that I just bought, I am so happy to see the company providing more and more support to their US store, distributors, and fans.
It does appear to only cover the models that have gotten US official releases so far, but that makes sense.
A dude named Timothy Seals built a good amount of Mechwarrior 2 covers/remixes/remasters/whatevers a while back and A New Dawn (Bred for War Edition) is suuuuuuper excellent. Some original work mixed in with modern versions of the hits from the original game's OST. I imagine it has been brought up several times on these forums but for some reason I'm thinking about it again. I would love to hear a modern take on the MW2:Mercs OST someday.
Thoughts on the MonHun event:
The aesthetics are very good, the dev notes about "not using the music we agreed to" are extremely strange, the lack of medals and low list of level challenges seems off, and the event reward structure is maybe the worst ever?
Starting from that last point, they've made the rewards gacha, and it really sucks. Normally, you can target exactly what you would like, which is helpful if you're not going to grind the event enough to clear the store. But even if you ARE playing that much, this still sucks because the lesser, infinite rewards are in the same pull queue as most of the "decent" materials (the really prime stuff mercifully didn't have any booby prizes in there). Meaning I'm STILL on the hunt for the last 20k cash reward because it keeps giving me 2k instead. This is also one of those events where the stages don't directly have any drops themselves, and I dislike that structure too, so that's two strikes.
Being more positive, I like how the "enemies" are clearly wildlife panicked into a dangerous stampede or predators wanting to eat you, not some kind of evil enemy faction (note, as ever, I'm just playing the content and not reading the novel that comes with it, I save that for later, if ever). Rathalos feels tough, but beatable, so far, compared to some event bosses I just completely despise on sight. I think it's a bit of a missed opportunity that the people we're isekaing out of this world this time are a bunch of silly 1 star cats (with basically no records to read), especially since we got a meaty group of characters from R6 that have had to just deal with being stuck in this shit world ever since (not that I expect the R6 trio to ever get any mention ever again, but it's fun to think about).
The camping event, I haven't touched outside of being stuck in that massive tutorial on day one. It seems interesting in concept, I just have had NO free time for it.

Pissing off Hollow Knight fans is certainly a choice.
And we laugh and laugh and laugh.

Bandai continues to push forward into trying to make Build Divers as Real Thing, now at the “GunPla Battle VR” stage of things
I can see why, something like Build divers has serious potential, but serious failure modes too

Banners for the next patch are confirmed to be Neuvillette/Hu Tao, and then Wriothesley/Venti. No word on 4*s.
No seriously, follow Wheels, they do the best Arknights cartoons outside of Yostar.
Still waiting on Ace Combat 7's soundtrack to go streaming, though...
