I gotta say, the biggest problem I have with this game is the unlocks. Even the holiday event takes too long because the currency is tied to daily quests. They should give us gold stars with wins, and purple currency with regular wins.
I'm not too mad at the Jeff mode because the missions have longer timers. If they had tied the holiday currency to dailies I'd be grumbling.
The steamer events to get free skins were a mess though. Not sure why companies keep doing events in that style. It just leaves most of the audience attempting to participate upset or feeling left out.

More fun is some of the Vermintide/Darktide things where you play a game with a Dev and that gives you a cheevo, but then you can pass that cheevo on to others.
Could have easily did the same because yeah it sounded like a total streamer sniping mess as foretold.
I have tried playing rivals and it overall felt kind of impenetrable to me, I was not sure what any of the characters I played were supposed to be doing.
I highly, highly recommend playing in a group because it is a lot more fun, coordinated and then you can somewhat more comfortably experiment with characters
If you haven't played Overwatch, it's basically a third person more arcade style version of that; the typical team composition is usually 2 tanks 2 damage 2 healers, but different team comps are possible just a bit harder to do
There are a lot of YouTube guides for specific characters too, but easy ones to start with are Punisher, Scarlet Witch, Jeff.
One of the biggest differences between this and overwatch is that every character is pretty lethal so support roles and tanks can actually get kills, and a full team wipe isn't as bad as it is in Overwatch
Okay someone tell me if Peni's attach/web swing gives you the benefits of standing on cyberweb or is just there to pull you back cause I usually use it to get to the front lines and then completely forget about it.
It does not. At least, it didn't when I was going through and testing a bunch of stuff in practice mode last week. I'm not sure what the practical use for the attach is yet.

Yes, standing on any of your webs heals you. You can even right click on the ground and stand on it if your web pull is on cooldown, but I usually always use right click to stun.

Yeah if I have the cooldown and I'm away from nest/on cooldown I'll sometimes do that so I get the benefits.

Thanks, good to know, it would need testing but I imagine it can tether you back from a Wolverine or Winter Soldier grab but yeah otherwise hard time seeing the use.

I think Rocket is a solid starter character. Right trigger to shoot does damage. Left trigger to shoot heals allies and yourself. Then he's just got a dash, a deploy that will revive somebody who dies in its range, and his ultimate puts down a boost that ups everybody's damage.
But the game is pretty weird when you're just watching somebody play and jumping in. Best way to figure out who to play is pick your role and refine your choice of character to one that fits your playstyle.

Yeah, streamer events like those are essentially giveaway lotteries, but with more involvement for the same low chances. I passed personally.
When I Wanda these days I definitely don't do the get in the air high over everyone ult. Just start it up in a nearby doorframe or behind a rock and shimmy out as the shouting is partway through

Yeah there are characters that are extremely simple and straightforward, like Rocket or Punisher or Squirrel Girl or even Scarlet Witch, so you can try those and just play them until you get a feel for it
Otherwise just play around with guys in the practice range and just go with your gut on which ones you like and get good at them, it's quick play and there's a lot of kids playing, you can just play the dang game and not care, it's very low impact

They need to streamline the recent players list. It seems to go alphabetical but I'd like recent match, because the one jerk I wanted to report who just fed and then left with 30 seconds left was shown as being offline and way down the list because he left.

The web line has both mobility benefits and grants a patch of cyber web without putting the capture web on cooldown. You don't get the buffs without standing on the web, but the patch it deploys it the same as any other cyber web if you're standing on it (healing, bonus health, hiding deployed mines, letting spider mines home in on enemies if connected to the nest web).
Additionally, you can use the web line to reach places that Peni could never reach otherwise, allowing her to do things like place a nest up off the ground or attack from odd angle where nobody is expecting her to be. She can actually hang suspended from the ceiling with it and as she bounces up she gets close enough to the web to get healing and bonus health. It is also simply a way to move faster, either to get away from an enemy/attack or get back to the front faster. It only has a 3-4 seconds cooldown so you can use it a lot. It halts Peni and pulls her towards the landing spot the instant it lands, plus she can wall-run afterwards.
Most people just stand and keep shooting if they're getting overwhelmed with Peni, but she can make herself a fair pain to finish if she makes the effort to use the web line and wall run.

Oh I get that, but like the web attachment afterwards doesn't seem to have much of a use except for pulling you back if you stray and forget to detach it.
It'd be neat to have some benefits/use for the attachment but maybe makes her OP? I'm not sure.
Peni Parker - Tank, Area Control, general irritation
Magik - Melee DPS, bully the backline, pressure the control point (tank support)
Iron Man - Aerial Bombardment, anti-group pressure
Storm - Team Buffs, apparently one hell of an assist farmer
Cloak and Dagger - Heals
I feel like I'm missing one, but regardless, I am quite happy with my ability to adapt to most scenarios with a hero I can play competently.
Annoyingly for my last match before travel, I de-ranked back to Silver because two of my team left the game at halftime. Why must I suffer for other players having no emotional control?
I know some folks don't wanna party up for various reasons, but I'm down to play if folks do want to get some team queue stuff going. Comp is a lot better with friends. I'm usually available on weekends but I'm around today and tomorrow for games if people wanna run a few

I've been jamming a lot of Magneto and Iron Man. I've played Jeff, need to get the flow of him a bit better. Probably need to practice a closer ranged brawler as well.
I'm pretty annoying as Iron Man at this point. I can tell when teams are getting reallll tired of me
I think 30% of my competitive games have had a leaver. It's really taken my motivation to grind my way out of Bronze and thrown it in the dumpster.
Pretty much the same.
One thing I'll give this game is - they do send you a message when someone you've reported for throwing the game has been suspended from competitive.
It makes me feel better - as petty as it sounds.
I'd almost understand it if it was happening in straight up unwinnable stomps, but it isn't. We just happen to lose the first round in a game we could absolutely turn around with some smarter play, but noooo
Me: sees they added a surrender option! yay, decides to try ranked.
me: 15 minutes later: score is literally over 60-0 and you can't surrender in round one.
me:cries
edit: and starting round two the score was 102-5 and they still refuse to surrender, dear god.(with 4 of my teams kills being me..as fucking groot. ok no more competitive)
Dunno if it's just today but Xmas Groot shows up for your Jeff Holiday card and gives you 50 dust, hopefully implication is Xmas Rocket showing up to give you another 50 cause 50 is umm worthless for the card.

Cripes so many DPS need to spend like... 50 more hours in Quickplay before they even look at Competitive. When I don't know what to do as Psylocke, it's because I'm playing Loki and I need to borrow her ult to block a flanking portal attack after an asshole tank keeps overextending on defense and I still get a triple kill and block the cap. If you're going 5-20 as Psylocke in Competitive, leave Competitive. You don't know how to use this character and Competitive is not the place to find out. Stop being the problem DPS, this shit isn't hard to figure out. And how is that even fun for you? You get one lucky kill every five deaths. You're spending more time dying and running back to the fight than actually fighting.
And damn, Iron Fist really is the new Genji. People trying to force him to work two back-to-back rounds of failure and getting obliterated endlessly is so frustrating. I really do wish there was a forfeit option because when you've got two shitty, worthless DPS, I'd rather just give the match up than blunder through the full time of trying to make anything work with that much dead weight. At least focus a dang target, I'm getting massively sick of having Psylocke or Punisher or Bucky or all three on our team, driving a tank down to less than 10% health, and watching them skip away to get healed safely because all of our DPS are pointing anywhere but somewhere useful.
I picked Mantis because a teammate played Adam Warlock and I wanted to get that mission shard for utilizing the teamup, but then we whomped the team so hard that I never died so I couldn't use cocoon from Warlock to come back to life. Also my first time playing Mantis and she is quite good, but I think attacking on Klyntar to move the tank is very easy on the offense.
Ninja Snarl PMy helmet is my burden.Ninja Snarl: Gone, but not forgotten.Registered Userregular
I think the hardest part of Klyntar is getting through the initial point. The attacking team actually has quite far to go to get to that point and while there are a couple non-portal routes in, all normal routes in can be covered, the side routes are tight-quarter killzones, and the main route is a big long chokepoint. I think the strongest play is usually having a Strange put a portal up behind the point on the second level, where the attackers can get a flanking attack while benefiting from elevation and cover. Once the attackers can break off a couple enemies, it will usually fold quickly and the rest of the map is a matter of time. If the payload stalls, it's always at the turns or in that skeleton towards the end.
I like Klyntar overall, though. It's got a good mix of elevation, cover, narrow spaces, and long wide-open areas. The further you go up the less cover there is, so ranged ground characters get advantage against flyers. Could probably do with a little more destructible scenery, though.

There is actually. I've seen it, but it's a team vote and 99% of the time one person is gonna be like "nah we can still win this" when there is absolutely no chance.
