A while ago, I logged into a pre-made character on the PTR just to screw around, and I saw a mage doing all sorts of shenanigans in one of the mines. I investigated, and realized that he was using spellsteal to take the "Fire Shield" buff from the caster troggs. We both realized that spellsteal's cooldown was shorter than the duration of the buff, and the buff stacked indefinitely depending on the number of mobs you could find to steal it from. (It had a 10 minute cooldown, where spellsteal only had a 2 minute cooldown, iirc). The fire shield did 400-500 damage every 3 seconds to every target around the person buffed per fire shield buff applied. He managed to get a total of 4 shields stacked on him.

Now, this particular mage was a frost mage (when ice block was a talent), and there was a clusterfuck of ~30 enemies happening at the iceblood flag... We rode up, and the kicker was that we realized that the fire shields applied their fire damage through ice block, and with 4 shields applied, he was doing 1600-2000 damage every 3 seconds to every target around him. Between ice block, ice barrier, my power word: shield, mana shield, and arcane explosion, we literally killed all 30 people in a manner of seconds.

dood, that sounds almost as powerful an AoE as Seed of Corruption!

Seed of Corruption only procs an AOE one time per cast. And it has a cast time... This other way you just had to run around like an idiot and be near people.

I know, I was joking... or at least, half-joking =p I do get some uber chain kills with seeds in AV though. sometimes I wind up with 2x the damage done of the next highest person, if the alliance is extra stupid about targetting me (or rather, not targetting me)

I remember that time. It was doing so much damage because it was adding in his +spell damage.

edit: There was also a time when the pulse dagger (I think that is what it was called) was considered arcane damage and took +spell damage into account. A mage was stabbing things for 1000+ damage every 1.5 seconds.

So my friend advises me to start playing WoW, which I've heard is alright.

A question however, when it says minimum RAM 512, does that mean actually, or will 256 cut it assuming I don't play for 5 hours straight?

Yeah, my computers rubbish, but then again it has 6 million players so it should scale well for cheapasses with old ass computers right? Right?

I had to make a comment about this, even though I'm days behind. Do you live in Nigeria and found your computer floating down a river because it got dumped off a ship selling recycled metal to third world countries?

Seriously, get a job for $10/hour, work one day, and buy a used POS that will run wow.

Because everyones priority is getting a new computer...

My old computer with 512 (2.4 single core processor, 128 meg graphics card) ran it at about 20-25FPS on minimum settings at 800x600.

Heh, my current computer has 512 meg ram and a 32 meg Geforce 2 and it still runs ok.

Shattrath makes it its bitch though D:

    Awesome.

Bob: We need to give Arthas a new look, something hip, something cool. How about a runeclub instead of a runesword? Focus tests show us that kids like weed and they like blunts, we think that will translate into greater appeal for blunt instruments.

John: I disagree, I think we should stick with the tried and true formula. Elric is classic for a reason. If anything, we need to make Arthas a weak drug-dependant emo whiner, since we all know emo is the new trend sweeping the nation.

Michael: You're both wrong, let's not change anything, and furthermore I think the lore doesn't support the change. Riz, care to enlighten these folks?

Riz: Yes. You see gentlemen, Kil'Jaeden the Deceiver himself oversaw the construction of the weapon and as we know, the Burning Legion abhors blunt weapons as we saw with the case of the flaying of Forge-smith Kraal. The only possible form that the weapon can take is that of a blade. And please forgive me for being candid, but one cannot pander to whatever current pop trend dominates, when dealing with the surperb lore of World of Warcaft.

Man, you know that 90% of the job would be forcing you to find a vaguely lore-based excuse to make whatever crackpot changes they want seem to fit in the existing world.

Well, you'd just be the assistant. So, you'd be there for all the miniscule decisions, and running back and forth between the historian and the creative teams. You'd just deliver vaguely lore-based excuses.

Also, looks like there's editing too, so you get to proof-read the lore too. It actually sounds like a cushy editor job (Though, not that much room for advancement)

Alright, how the hell do I log in to the PTR? They broke their own "realm suggestion" thing by removing the regional selection. Now the "Suggest Realm" button is permanently disabled, and there's no other way to bring up the realms list. Someone give me the name of one of the PTRs so I can manually insert that name into my config file.

Well, the PTRs were disabled leaving only the TTR, and I think you switch over to that with some tab on the bottom of the selection list.

I would LOVE if they'd let me proofread their shit. Typos would never make it into quest text ever again! Or y'know, Trial FireTrousers? I suspect they don't actually have anyone whose job this is, it just gets done as they go along or whatever.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had one general QA guy for just about everything like that. Item names, mob names, NPC names, quest descriptions, etc. However that guy must be insane at this point, since I think I can only read quests that are just thinly veiled "Kill x of y!" quests before going on a shooting spree.

no image but I have the text written down

    The Phylactery of Kel'Thuzad

The phylactery is all that remains of the master of Naxxramas. Your better judgment dictates that you destroy the phylactery, preventing the lich from ever reforming. Thankfully, you seldom listen to that internal voice of reason.

Someone at Light's Hope will pay you hugely for this artifact. Who cares if Kel'Thuzad regenerates to full power?

The best quest for mockery has to be the WPL quest (Horde-side) where you have to find the brother of a ghost.

I'll see if I can scrounge up a link...

When this happened to me, I got a response via email fairly quickly. Took them a few days to restore what was deleted/stolen. They were definitely responsive by email, though.

I would continue trying to reach them that way, and maybe call if you haven't heard anything in a couple days. They generally want to be helpful, cause they want you to keep giving them money.
