I mean, most of the show is shot with film but when they switch to video the grain disappears and there are more frames per second. I think it really ruins the look of the show and was wondering if anyone knew why they do it?
One of my buddies who is also a "The Shield" fan and I have been discussing what we think will happen this season. Here's what we have come up with:
1. Vic will either:
a. Be shot and killed by Dutch, Claudette, Danny, or Julien.
b. Lose his pension in the end.
I'm leaning more towards him being shot and killed by Dutch. There's no way the show can end with him getting away with all of his crimes. I wouldn't put it past the writers to give him a proper police burial despite how awful of a person he is.
2. Ronnie will kill Shane.
3. Aceveda will lose his job due to his involvement with Vic.
Keep in mind that this is all speculation. I haven't seen anything, not even the first episode at this point, but I want to get it on paper so I can gloat if it happens.

I'm amending my prediction.
Ronnie ends the season by making Vic the new Terry Crowley. That shit in the hotel was the kinda ice cold that Vic can't pull off, and I can see Ronnie being the last man standing through either his own actions or someone else's.
Remember Ronnie's words when Vic sat down and finally laid out all the dirty laundry that he and Shane had piled up together? Especially as it pertains to Terry's death? He just did a blank-faced pause, considered it, then quietly replied...
"You should have just told me Vic; I could have protected you better."
I have a very large degree of faith in Ronnie's survival skills. I'm glad they decided to stop using his character for wallpaper after the first three seasons.

I think they shot and purposefully pushed the video to be grainier and dirtier.
I love that The Shield popularized the ending segments that go along with a song. Even if they didn't do it first, they did it right.
The ending to the pilot episode pretty much solidified The Shield's mastery in that field.
'Trouble', 'Disarm', 'Overcome'... man, so many awesome ending sequences...

Eh, I still liked the way Homicide dis it ten years earlier, but they share certain elements. Like Clark Johnson.

I'm not convinced. But Ronnie might start to get awesome this season. He's always been a bit of a wildcard as the character least fleshed out.
