I love how while they do not intersect often Claudette and Dutch have been playing the "good cops" to Mackey's bad ones.

    it's a neat parallel

Why are some scenes shot with film and others on video? The video looks terrible.

I think they shot and purposefully pushed the video to be grainier and dirtier.

I mean, most of the show is shot with film but when they switch to video the grain disappears and there are more frames per second. I think it really ruins the look of the show and was wondering if anyone knew why they do it?

I need to go buy all the DVD sets and just rewatch the entire series.

I love that The Shield popularized the ending segments that go along with a song. Even if they didn't do it first, they did it right.

The ending to the pilot episode pretty much solidified The Shield's mastery in that field.

Now that brings back some memories. Damn.

I will more than likely not be able to watch it tomorrow. This makes me a sad panda. I'll catch it later in the week, though.

So, any bets as to which country will finish airing the season a couple months before it airs here this time around?

Apparently, they're about to review the premiere on NPR's Fresh Air.

Edit: The reviewer has seen the 1st 8 episodes of the season! Why aren't they leaked on the interwebs?

One of my buddies who is also a "The Shield" fan and I have been discussing what we think will happen this season. Here's what we have come up with:
    1. Vic will either:

    a. Be shot and killed by Dutch, Claudette, Danny, or Julien.
    b. Lose his pension in the end.

I'm leaning more towards him being shot and killed by Dutch. There's no way the show can end with him getting away with all of his crimes. I wouldn't put it past the writers to give him a proper police burial despite how awful of a person he is.

    2. Ronnie will kill Shane.

    3. Aceveda will lose his job due to his involvement with Vic.

Keep in mind that this is all speculation. I haven't seen anything, not even the first episode at this point, but I want to get it on paper so I can gloat if it happens.

I also never realized that enough Armenians even lived in LA to make a credible threat in an Armenian vs. Mexican gang war.

As a former LA resident, I can absolutely tell you that there are enough Armenians running around to give credence to that storyline.

    P.S. Armenians are fucking scary.

Welcome back, The Shield. I missed you so very much.
    Fuck yeah, Billings!
HOLY FUCK RONNIE JESUS HARSH HARSH DOUBLE HARSH

    I'm amending my prediction.
Ronnie ends the season by making Vic the new Terry Crowley. That shit in the hotel was the kinda ice cold that Vic can't pull off, and I can see Ronnie being the last man standing through either his own actions or someone else's.

Remember Ronnie's words when Vic sat down and finally laid out all the dirty laundry that he and Shane had piled up together? Especially as it pertains to Terry's death? He just did a blank-faced pause, considered it, then quietly replied...
"You should have just told me Vic; I could have protected you better."

I have a very large degree of faith in Ronnie's survival skills. I'm glad they decided to stop using his character for wallpaper after the first three seasons.

    DA's notes from the episode:
Opening.....woa. Yes Shield baby, I'm missed you. I was really not expecting to open to Mira bound and gagged and a good old fashioned Shane gets the fuck beaten out of him.

"There's a guy here who says he killed his wife." Funniest line of the episode.

    MMmmmm......good old excessive police violence.

Hells yea. Ronnie is Stone Fucking Cold.

Shane on the other hand is fucking stupid as always. (Note, in the end that worked out but geez.)

    Diversion!

Man, Danny has such horrible luck.

Cass is mini-Mackey! The genes are strong in her. I can't wait 15 years for The Shield 4: A New Hope.

I had forgotten how awesome this show is.
