I preordered the CE from EBGames, I'll probably get it sometime next week. When I get around to installing it is a different matter. Tales of Symphonia 2 is released before then, so...Tales. Then WotLK. Or maybe more Tales, & I'll wait until the end of the month to start leveling.
Buy thursday morning, install at work, anxiously wait all day thursday until I can go home.
I'm going to quest and read quest text. All of them!! And mow through utgarde keep sharding everything.

The point isn't to be bloody clever, the point is to be clear that the thread is for general discussion about the game.
I figured that would pretty apparent from the [chat] tag.
/hug
I wasn't jumping on the guy, just noting that it didn't have the same flair as previous iterations of the thread. If the sole purpose of the title was to indicate what the thread was about, every single chat thread would just be "WoW Chat Thread v.#." I like that people can have some fun with it, shoot me.
I don't like the term 'chat thread.' It doesn't really convey the nature or purpose of this thread, which is for the general discussion of the game.

I'm still not sure what will be happening the day of release, because my first day of training for my new job is tomorrow, and when I actually start I have no idea. Whenever I find that out then I'll make plans for what I'll do on launch day.
Though honestly, I'm sure things will be such a clusterfuck that I'm likely to be playing my lowbies or something else entirely in the beginning.

Figure that the 140 page monolith is going to die out sooner or later?
My preparations thus far amount to; 0. I figure I'll end up idly wandering Raleigh after work on Thursday in search of a Collector's Edition, and after hitting the local gaming shops within a couple blocks, will probably just settle for the regular edition and call it a night.
If the server is even remotely stable, I'll be very, very impressed. And if not, just more time for Left 4 Dead.
This is probably going to be me as well, except I will be working on Fallout 3 instead of L4D if/when the servers get to wonky.
-Roll into local game shop doing midnight launch, probably 20 minutes before midnight. Maybe get some food on the way there.
-Receive WotLK, go home
-Start installation
-Go to bed
-Wake up at normal time, start leveling
EDIT: Oh, and I'll start my Left 4 Dead steam download/install.
Do you need to install it I wonder if you are caught up on patches? hmm...
You will have to install wrath then repatch it to current version. There is content on the wrath install that is not on your client (art assets, for example), and the version of Wrath that is on-disc is 3.0, so it'll have to patch after installing.
Wait i have to redownload the monster that was 3.01 and 2? that sucks
EDIT: different topic but no need for a new post... can we get one week where the normal (every week for what 4-5 years now?) maintenance doesn't end up destroying something in the process after all the weeks and months and years we've had tuesday restarts.
Is anyone else planning on waiting at least week after release before getting the game? I know I am.
I have the first week of December off, so that's probably when I'll really start playing.

Please add WoW to the title of the thread and change it somewhat, lest people think that this is a thread exclusively for chat concerning the WotLK midnight release. Right now it's not very clear to the new user at all and confusing in general.

If that's true, I'm going to /cry. However, I'm pretty sure it will just detect that the files from the patch are already on your computer. The installation shouldn't be stupid enough to delete them so you should just have to reapply them after installing the expansion with no download required.

Uh, but it is just about the wotlk midnight release and things concerning wotlk specifically........
Plan A
Thursday: Pick up WotLK at lunch, stare at the pretty art work for the second half of my work day. Install when I get home, play Peggle or Half Life on the secondary machine while it patches, go to bed around 10:00 when I get frustrated with server stability.
Friday: Work as usual, level alts in Classic content when I get home while watching guildmates dump in and out of crashing zones, go see Quantum of Solace late.
Saturday: get up early, empty my bladder, let the dogs out, and play til my eyes fall out.
Rinse and repeat until the end of my vacation on Thursday.
Plan B
Wednesday at 11:59 p.m.: Storm Game Stop with two burley men, liberate our reserved copies. Make coffee, load software, patch, zombie through work, burn unspeakable things to appease dark pagan deities of server stability, weigh the wisdom of playing all night (since the dark pagan deities will keep our servers stable), and so forth.

I think the problem is you put "chat" in the title. Leading people to think of it as the new general chat thread for WoW.
My plan is to not bother going out in the freezing but stay in and keep levelling my shaman, who should hit 60 tonight. I'll probably run through all the outland instances many times over healing runs with 4 other death knights. By the time I hit 70 the digital download should be available and I can rock my way through Northrend, no doubt healing instance runs with 4 death knights again

You shall have any army of deathknights at your beck and call.
End on
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us

I was sorta thinking about doing this. My druid is now 62 and I am sure I would have no problem finding groups to 80.
I'm actually looking forward to playing in chaos and trying to quest for camped mobs. I'll probably group up with my guildmates to do it all. If the server crashes every half hour, so much the better.
Yeah, I'm weird. It's just that I've never been present, at max level, in ANY game when an expansion hit. I only STARTED playing WoW when BC came out, and I spent like an entire year getting my SHammy from 1-70.
The prospect of hitting 80 in two weeks, amid all this chaos, and having all that extra time is INTOXICATING.

When RP-PVP servers were first released, the Darktalon Brood PA guild was formed on Emerald Dream. There were about 20 people sitting around sarkoth, or sarkloth, or whatever that scorpion is called.
I live in a semi-small town, so I'm hoping I can nab a CE at our local walmart on the day of... I'm just hoping that I'll be back from my business trip by then. Because, if I'm not, I'll still be in LA... and woe to me trying to get a CE in the city of angels.
Heh, me and a few freinds are camping out our local Game store and going to the pub before (and possibly after too).
I think I mis-lead one of my freinds to believing the release date was tonight..... so in 2 hours time he may be knocking at my door looking rather cold and unimpressed

If you haven't deleted the patch files yet you will be able to reuse them. Store them in your wow install folder and it should pick them up. You will have to repatch to them, though.
Preordered two CEs from the web, got plain old normal shiping. The idea is that by the time they are lounging in my mailbox Blizz will have frankenstien'd the servers into some playable state.
Hey guys,
I have a level 50 warlock and a level 22 shaman. I've been levelling the shaman, well, because Warlock was sorta boring with patch 3. However, I've done 1-40 about 8 times now, and I really want to see content after level 50.
So, should I level my 50 warlock to 55, get Wrath, then make a Death Knight? How do they play? Are they similar to any other classes (they look like shamans/paladins from the abilities sheet...)? Are they FUN?
Note: I mostly solo. And by mostly, I mean entirely.
Wait, so this is the new chat thread, or it is just about WOTLK release plans? :argh:
Anyway, my plans include:
+ Stop for groceries tonight or tomorrow so I don't end up spending $150 on takeout all weekend because I don't want to leave my apartment.
+ Finish leveling my priest tonight.
+ Hope that my CE arrives sometime during the day Thursday.
+ Possibly leave work early but probably just stay here reading forumer lamentation.
+ Head home, install, and join in lamentation.
+ Friday, Saturday, Sunday: Leveling!
+ Monday: Cry because unemployed and/or collegiate guildmates (also my boyfriend, who can play AT work, the bastard) are still leveling while I have to be at work again.
Death Knight is an entirely new gameplay experience.
They are very fun. It's hard to describe without making a huge post though.
Melee dps tank with interesting ranged capabilities and a lot of new unique mechanics.
So a vote for levelling my warlock?
Which zone will get me to 55 quickest? I left him in AShenvale, ready to go and level in that zone North where the Furbolgs are (and no Horde FP). I forget the name
I'm going to Future Shop in Toronto for the midnight launch, and I have Thursday and Friday off work. If the servers are hit hard, I'll just nap, I could use the rest right now.

Felwood, and there are, in fact, two Horde FPs there now. One at Emerald Sanctuary, and one about halfway up the zone by the nasty green waterfall whose name I forget.
Honestly, any combination of zones will do you pretty well. Fast leveling is fast. If I were going to do Felwood, I'd actually make sure I did the lower-50s quests in Un'Goro first, there is a lot of cross-questing that goes on between those two zones. Alternatively, you can do WPL. The quest progression there is extremely linear but it's right outside of Undercity.
I'm starting to get worried, Amazon told me I'd get the CE on release day but it hasn't shipped yet. Of course, it could ship tomorrow and I'd still get it by the 13th (regular shipping is usually 1 day w/Amazon...) but I'd feel better if it was already in the mail.
So I called my GameStop to ask around how many pre-orders they had, so that I could judge about what time I needed to get there at midnight to avoid a horribly long line. They informed me that they had over 100 pre-orders, but that I shouldn't worry because they'll have games and PvP contests going on in the parking lot. Somehow.
I don't know. This is kind of exactly the OPPOSITE of what I wanted to hear. I just wanted to go, get it, and get home to claim my DK.
I'm still vacillating between either a Blood Elf Death Knight named Blossom, or a Tauren Death Knight named Hopemonger. Both names are reserved on my account.

Enjoy the content download as opposed to a disc install!
