I believe I am done with this game. Removing myself from the alliance, and upgrading my ports/firing my military if you want stuff, come and get it.

I'm guessing the bugs got to you, then?

5th colony dispatched. I am now double-wine. This should let my taverns really get the stuff flowing.

Congrats on that. I finally gave in to the temptation for a second wine colony myself, so no proxy for a bit.

Gonna go ahead and stop playing as well. I don't think I'm having fun with this, so I might as well stop fiddling with it. Dropped alliance, fired military, tore down walls. Have at it, if I'm not too far to plunder!

    Islands at:
    54:35 (sulfur)
    55:34 (marble)
    55:35 (wine)
    55:36 (crystal)

I think part of Ikariam's problem, why players get burnout like this, is that it seems to be never ending. Most web browser strategy games go through continual resets and rule tweaks to keep things fresh and interesting.

In Ikariam once you get up to 4-5 cities it just becomes a resource grind, either through production or farming people.

Yeah, without occupation in game, the end-game content just isn't really there. You cannot truly control any territory.

Shorn, did your girlfriend abandon as well? I noticed she was inactive the last time I looked at those islands.

I'm around; I should probably purge the ranks of the not-logged-in-in-a-month.

We've had some offers, for people who want a more active alliance:

Crew (pirates: arr, matey, and ye be helpin' wit' th' inspections!)
DPX (high score, end game focus, recommend proxies for military maneuvers)
and one of the Templars (webber's group)

If anyone wants to switch over to a different/more active alliance, feel free. I don't see us doing too much organized action at the moment.

So; if I have a 30% chance of failing at spying out a garrison, the odds of 4 spies all failing are like .3*.3*.3*.3 right? Assuming I'm not forgetting my math (which admittedly was a long time ago) that's 0.0081, or 0.81%. Less than 1% chance of happening, yet this situation occurs all the time. If one spy fails to spy out a garrison, all my other spies will fail too. I've seen it happen at least half a dozen times and I don't do all that much spying. Is this a RNG based on a clock thing or what? If I wait 5 minutes or something for the next spy to attempt will I be better off?

Many people on the official forums have reported things like that happening, as well. My best guess is that there is some sort of error in the spy calculations, and I cannot really say why that is happening. :|

It's at least worth a shot to wait a few minutes after a failed spying, but I haven't seen any true resolution to that problem.

It's fairly quiet at the moment, in truth.

You/we could volunteer to help Crew with their inspections program, if we wanted. Or we could let someone amass a huge fortune in gold and then spend all our time and effort keeping that one person from being pillaged. That could be fun. :)

Sniperguy - I'm nearby on 32:24. Send me a message when you need some marble/wine/crystal/sulfur/whatever so you can accelerate to four islands as soon as possible.

    Congrats!

I've still got a bit of corruption, but only in my 5th colony (new wine island). I decided having the possibility of a proxy was more important than first clearing the corruption from that colony.

Drop me a message in game with how much of each resource you have room for (i.e., max - current), and I'll fill 'em up for you. You can search for me on the high score list or find me on 32:24

    woo

once i get enought to upgrade my palace to get a 6th colony, im going to temporarily make it on an island that gives discounted trade ships, and run myself out of money buying them.

Since the cost of cargo boats goes up with each one you buy, you're only ever ahead by 1-2 boats by having that wonder. I wouldn't bother.

i have 48 boats right now.
if i invest my full 4.9 million, i could get up to
    59 ships

    with the wonder: 61

so, that's true, but the difference is like a million bucks

Thanks PA, for introducing me to a game that ruins lives...

hey all, long time lurker first time poster here (be gentle.)
I'm very much addicted to Ikariam now because of all of you and I thought I should create a PA account to inform you of this.

I see you play on beta and was wondering if any of you did anything on the other servers?

I didn't see anything reminiscent of anything PA related in Epsilon so I created the PPK (Pillaging Pirate Kittens.)

    Did I win your favor???

*Please correct my grammar and tell me that I am trying too hard while telling me to eat a dick (I need it)

When we were really active, we had stuff going on beta, delta, epsilon, and zeta. But I think everyone who was on epsilon dropped.

The game is a lot of fun for a while, but eventually the bugs tend to get to people. The combat system still leaves a lot to be desired. (That having been said, I am still active on Alpha as well as our main group on Beta.)

By the time you actually need 50 boats, a million is a drop in the bucket. If I sold all my excess resources for 10 gold each, I'd be up over 10 million in 24 hours.
