I don't suppose you guys could recommend a good, recent martial-arts flic in the vein of Ong Bak (i.e. the less CG and wires the better)? I watched Ong Bak and Chocolate, by the same director, and now I've really got an itch for more. The Protector just didn't do it for me, something about it seemed less harsh in terms of the movie's sets and shooting. Ong Bak just looked rough, and I loved it.

I like Killzone a lot, but there's literally like four fight scenes in the movie.

it probably was edited, and yeah, the fight scenes are badass. They really have a vicious 80s feel to them, but all hyper like. I just wish there were more of them.
I've always been really partial to Jet Li's Twin Warriors movie.

House of Flying Daggers is another boring martial arts film directed by Zhang Yimou which masquerades as a film that is really DRAMATIC and substantial when it is neither of those things.
i love this thread and basically anything by jackie chan, chow yun fat, tony jaa, and jet li. even their american stuff like replacement killers and rush hour and kiss of the dragon and unleashed. though war was pretty dumb. and now i'm rambling.
but yeah, has anyone seen the dead or alive trilogy by takeshi miike? because hot damn those are pretty awesome as well as being ridiculously stupid
if im remembering the right movie, the first dead or alive movie had the most ridiculous ending ive ever seen of anything ever
check out the sequels too. they manage to top the ending to the original

House of Flying Daggers was not as good as Hero. Also do you actually like any wuxia movies and if so which. And if not then why are you bitching, complain about ice cream being cold why don't you.
I ended up watching it again a couple months ago, found it on demand, and it was just as awesome as I remember it.
Fucking huge-ass fight in the inn, the pseudo-sex when Ziyi Zhang (I've forgotten her character's name) fights Li Mu Bai, and then the fucking ending that, depending on how you interpret it, is either devastatingly tragic or hopeful...
I saw Hard Boiled in a shop for about £2 a few years back and I didn't buy it as I wasn't sure whether it was a good or bad John Woo film. I have regretted that ever since. Could probably get it for even less now.
Anyone else seen the Young and Dangerous series? Those were some great triad gangster films. I should really try and get the dvd box set at some point. Although I don't know if it's even available for pal 4 regions.
I'd probably be fine with SBS just rerunning them all again.
i liked shaloin soccer a little bit more than kung fu hustle. mostly because the soccer scenes were so damn ridiculous
It was the teams that did it.
The woman-man team was just so damn hysterical.
I think my favorite scene in that is the team's formation atop the roof, as each member arrives with the wind dramatically billowing their increasingly absurd outfits.

Another cool movie is Returner. And House of Fury but that is a comedy. And Dragon Tiger Gate but it has a shitty plot and dialogue.
Putting this on now

I did not finish it.
Not even an abundance of Gong Li and cleavage could keep me truly bound to the the film.
But I had also bought Fallout 3 like... the day before so... maybe I should give it proper shot.
Fun fact--Woo based The Killer off of Le Samourai.

Indeed it was.
The Three Heroes
The Harpists
Landlord and Landlady vs The Beast
I just sat there mouth hanging open, paralyzed by the awesome ending, the first time I watched it.
It was the teams that did it.

They are pretty fuckin rad.

Did anyone else like Fearless?
i know its french, but that shirt and the bleached hair is completely inexcusable.
