Seconding the Mirror's Edge trailer. The first time that theme hit me it felt so bloody perfect, with the camera spinning around Faith then zooming back. :^:
[edit]I was a big fan of DMC anyway, but after the dismal reviews of DMC2 I was a bit hesitant on DMC3, especially hearing the same director was working on it.
Never did really get to play it since the PC version had messed up controls on a 360 gamepad (no way to remap the sticks and they were the wrong way around). Although it did play a big part in me getting DMC4, which is also awesome.
Anyway, there's an upcoming Capcom game that I didn't really care about at all until I saw the trailers:
I think it's safe to say that barring a catastrophic mistake or two, Capcom have likely got my money in the bag on this one. The mechanic looks like everything Spider-Man should have been. Alright so it's probably going to be more linear than the Spider-Man games, but look at that swing, just look at it.
The only time I remember watching a video and immediately deciding to buy a game is Full Throttle. I think I saw it on the Dark Forces disc, and there was no doubt.
Though I loved the first TA anyway, so it wasn't a hard sell.

It's been mentioned, but the first two Mirrors Edge trailers really did it for me.
I'm sure this has happened to the rest of you, but now that it's out on PC I still haven't bought it. I haven't yet played it and am still excited about it, but I'm not rushing out to buy it.
I think DRM is part of it. I've seen the box copy cheap, but I want to buy it on Steam and not have to deal with DRM.
Anyone have other games that you were very excited about, and by the time they came out you weren't interested in at all, or even like my case, just didn't feel like buying. Spore is a given ofcourse.

This happened to me with this game and with Mass Effect. When I heard Mass Effect came out for PC I was ecstatic, but I still haven't bought it.

Well, if I can stretch the idea a little, I was sold on Half-Life when I read the snippet on the box saying that the aliens could smell me. That seemed so cool. Of course, while the rest of you were chomping at the bit for it, I had never even heard of it. I suppose you could say that the entirety of Half-Life sold me on the sequel(s) and spin-offs.
Portal, of course. "This next test is impossible".
Wasn't this one, specifically, but as soon as I saw it in action, I had to have it. Sadly, I still don't; release date here is TBA 2009, according to wiki. Plus, I've been strapped for cash for a long time now. This will, hopefully, be changing somewhat soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLB21hTVvFE
Have you played it yet. If you are a fan of Bioware games, you'll love it. The DLC came free, but it came to late. It didn't release until a few weeks after I had beat the game. Once we get a break in releases and I've my stack of new games is empty I'll play it again.

This would have to go along the lines of game footage that drew me in. In both cases I was riding shotgun while my brothers first loaded up the game. After watching the intros I had to play them myself.
Duke Nukem Forever E3 2001 trailer. 4 years after it was announced it had changed engine two times and was already a internet meme (before I knew what an internet meme was).
Then 3D Realms released a good trailer that showed what might actually be a fun game.

Also this. When I saw it two minutes ago they had my money.
Man, that World in Conflict trailer makes me sad. I tried my damn hardest to keep my guys alive, 'cause they seemed so real. When I saw that CGI cut happen in-game, I was so fucking pissed.
I have fallen in love with prototype because the guy is a lot like a character I came up with as a kid. But I am too much of a pacifist/pussy to be that brutal and violent so I love it even more for doing what I would not have been willing to do.
The console Bionic Commando trailers have already been mentioned, but I would like to voice my love of the Bionic Commando: Rearmed launch trailer. I had been pretty confident the game was going to be awesome, but I saw this trailer (then re-watched it several times) and then had to get the game.
The music syncs up beautifully with the action. Also, I still can't watch this trailer without feeling the overpowering urge to blow up Hitler's head. Fuck Hitler.
This made me want a 360 sooooooo bad. Easily my favourite trailer of all time. Words cannot describe the ecstasy of hearing this was coming to PC.

Yeah I bought it day one . I'm just interested to see if they can top that trailer for the second game.
I know the game was already sold to most everybody who bought it before it was even announced, but the video that introduced Snake in SSB: Brawl literally made me fall over backwards in my chair.
Mildly embarrassing.
Having Snake in Brawl was a pretty big announcement, though.
Though I loved the first TA anyway, so it wasn't a hard sell.
One of the few in-game trailers I've seen for an RTS that didn't make it look dull, that's an accomplishment in itself. They really captured how this is all about scale, conflict taking place across entire maps with everything from piffly bots to giant laser headed spider things.
Now for a gear change, and for once a racing game had my attention. Generally I'm not into racing games, but this just grabbed me for some reason. I think it was just the complete lack of seriousness in the track design, gameplay was based around the kind of crazy stuff you hadn't seen since "Stunts":

Oh yeah. The first teaser trailer was pretty damn cool to begin with and got me a little excited even before holy shit Snake. And the way they introduced Snake was just priceless.

So much of what makes the trailers really great is the music, though, the first one is the best. Marty is crazy good.
Haha, jester's gonna soank ya butt, spank ya on da butt.
Man, nothing gets me psyched for a game better than DMCs trailers. Halo puts you in awe, DMC is just FUCK YES.

Also, this trailer completely reinforced my love for the game

Although not the most impressive trailer, the great music in addition to the epic battle makes this trailer magnificent.

I was very skeptical of Call of Duty 4. Wasn't impressed with CoD2 or 3, but the BETA for CoD4 made it an instant buy.
Also, whenever vids of Left 4 Dead started hitting the net was pretty much sealing the deal for me.
OH YEAH.
Mass Effect
This one pretty much sold me on Mass Effect.
