I cleaned up my image directory, so most of the images in the old thread are dead now. These are mostly sketches from over the break. Some may be a bit old.
That latest WIP is looking cool. i think the only problem is that the cliff (closest to the viewer) and the ground through the canyon are the same/similar tone and colour. this makes it a little hard to see it as a cliff. I think the canyon and further background would make this stand out better if it was a little lighter in tone. Grass from far away almost looks like a pale dirt kind of colour. I did a little paintover (dodgy!!! with mouse and gradients). Im not saying i'm right, i just applied the methods i was tought to your illustration.
What exactly do you plan to go with this, do you have any full body studies and/or gestures, have you taken life drawing before, how do you design to draw a hand, and do you have any hand drawings, do you know what point perspective is, and are you in a college or have you graduated from a college and gone to a university.
Oh man, I love this. The colours are so nice and work so well together. I dunno if it was intentional or not, but cutting someone off at the joints (The ankle) generally really bugs me.
Loom" Im going to assume you questions were in good intent, but poorly communicated. Im a college senior, and have done many figure/perspective/hand studies. if you were trying to asses my background and/or relative skill level, I think the work mostly speaks for itself. Especially if you ever popped into my old thread which had almost a years worth of work in it.
Kochi: Thanks! Yeah, Im going to try and address that in the final drawing.
Here are some water color tests, since I think Im going to do the final in water colors. (First serious attempt with them.)
Beautiful hand studies, though some of the figures are getting wacky. watch how much you emphasize musculature, it is usually more subtle than you think.
cakemikz: I'll keep that in mind! I had a lot of fun with the hand studies, and they took like no time at all. So I think Im going to keep doing them until I can do them from my head.
Im an extreme multi-tasker, so it depends on what else I am doing atm.
I was doodling this thing in class and the girl behind me was like 'Did you draw that?? Like, right now??' So I feel like I have to post this. Took like five mins I think. I'll be posting proper thumbnials for this piece in the next day or so, but i was just fooling around when I got the assignment.
Thanks Betalgeuse! I love drawing in my sketchbook, its much more fun than trying to make complete images, haha. The pink and large black areas are made with pentel brush pens, and the blue is brushed in later when I'm at home, and its fw acrylic ink (process cyan color).
Gah! Proportions are always shitty on my drawings, haha.
And thanks for the complements guys. But Mustang, there are plenty of other people on concept art that you would probably learn a lot more from, haha. Or shit, even other people here too.
Posts
(Expect a city/castle thing in the bg where that ugly blob is)
It took me a bit to see the cliff the castle on the foreground is on. But maybe it's my small monitor.
I hope this 'illustrates' what im saying...

I'll try and keep that in mind as I continue!
Here are some car concepts. Im going to take two of them further and do some variations of them.
And here is a theatre poster for my conceptual illustration class.

earthwormadam: Thanks!!

And here is a from life study.
It was a metal skull with designy things on it.
Here is the next iteration of my Galaxy Grand Prix. They aren't done yet, but I got antsy and wanted to post, haha.
And here are some sketches. It's been a while since I've drawn from the live model, so I'm a bit rusty.

And two sketch pages
Took that guy from the sketch above further.
Otherwise, you're awesome.
Or the torso and legs are too small.
The sketches are effing brilliant Sub, I really should take the time to study them a bit more closely.

EDIT: God, I sound really creepy sometimes.
And a small update on this one.....Tried to fix the proportions some
