Oh god......the safe temp threshold is 72 Celsius. My -overclocked- E8400 idles at 44 and maxes out in the low 60's. Either you got one with bad temp sensors, or your CPUis going to die a painful death in the near future.
The TJ Max is 100 on 8400's which means that if you hit 100 degrees you are boned. Definitely check to make sure that your fan is seated properly, since it's tricky to mount it. Blow out any dust in the case in general, but it tends to collect on the heatsink, and of course make sure the fan is spinning at all.
That's the temp monitoring tool I use, it can test your temp sensors using Prime 95 to make sure they aren't "stuck", and it displays in the tray. I find it very useful.

Yeah, I'm just getting a nice zalman heatsink and some arctic sliver. Intel stock heatsinks are stupid and I might as well get a nice one.

No stock heatsink is crappy enough to give you temps of 60+ out of the box, if the sensor is accurate then there's definitely something wrong with the installation or the fan isn't running.
I think there are a lot of custom maps that need to be on more than just HoNC
Care to give us any examples?
I've got a list of good ones but it's at home. And as cool as the pac-man map is, I'm thinking of some less gimmicky ones. :P
Welp I'll have to do it tonight since I worked until fucking 9pm last night and went and saw Watchmen on the IMAX screen soon after
Got at least a couple of good customs that I haven't seen on the regular servers:
cp_broma - we had it for awhile because I remember shoving an egg on marty's face on this map once or twice, but now it's gone
cp_shock - same story as broma
cp_labor - I guess people could take this one or leave it, but it also used to be on the servers and now no more
and what about that one reverse-ctf map with a single intel briefcase in the middle that either team could pick up and you scored by capping in the enemy base? what was the name, and did it ever get polished?

Jinxed, and no.

I've had several crashes, but performance was 10+ FPS at least. The downside is that I now have some sort of choke/loss problem that I'm not in the mood to fix tonight.
Let's hope that Valve is secretly monitoring our crashes, cackling maniacally as they sort through the crash data as well as giggling at all of the disrupted fun. Some sort of solution to the problem would be nice though. That'd be swell.

Bummer. That map has potential but it's far from complete.

There's one that's sorta similar in the works, Icefield (I think that's it), where each team has the enemy's intel in their base, and you've gotta push it into the enemy base to capture it.
It's not one-flag though.

Melee unlock for the Sniper. If swung while aiming at an enemy within a certain range, the Sniper performs a lunging attack. The damage of this attack is determined by the amount of time spent in the lunge; attacking from farther away results in much more damage than a normal melee attack, while a melee attack launched at close range deals less damage. Because of its weight, the Golf Trophy has a very low rate of attack.
The idea here is to reward the Sniper for applying skills he already uses: precision aim at long ranges. A Sniper would choose to use this weapon in situations where there's a good chance that enemies will slip into the zone where his scoped rifle is no longer useful while he's still aware of them (such as in large, open areas like the first point in Badwater), and less often when there's a better chance of his being discovered in close quarters and by surprise (like the upper floor of the forts in Well).

Wow, I wish I could get that many one-hit kills. My stabs usually end up as slashes which get me shot and killed before they really do any good.

it's my Intel Core 2 Duo E8400.
Got a estimate on how much it was going to cost.
Fourteen hundred fucking dollars. (They've gotta replace, at the minimum, the hood, a headlight mount, and the headlight that got fucked up.)
Fuck. Hopefully my insurance comes through..

Has anyone noticed the patches getting consistently less stable each release?
