desperaterobots - I think the page below will help you pick yourself out of the crowd. I hope you don't hate it, but if you do, please tell me!
crawdaddio - Your design is going to be very much based on an actual crawdad, but I'm hoping to put in some unique twists.
MagicToaster - I'm having trouble deciding to draw you as a toaster or as Pennywise.
Here's some more sketches, trying to finalize individual designs.
DesperateRobots:
The head will look much closer to one of DesperateRobots paintings, but the basic design is there.
D-Robe:
Needs work. I have the head where I want to be, but I'm having trouble putting his body design down on paper.
Tam:
Totally fun to draw. Basic design is very close to Tam's avatar, but with exposed joints and hopefully tell-tale eyes.
Most of the designs are still in the planning stages, but if anyone totally hates their design, please tell me! I'm mosting doing this piece for fun/challenge/practice, but I would prefer if everyone liked the drawing I did of them as well.
More sketches. I think I might turn Mustang into a mechanical horse with all sorts of emblems and racing sponsor stickers, that sort of thing.
Just playing with my new Wacom tablet, added some colors so you can differentiate the robots. Not the final composition, but probably close to what I'll be going for:

Oh man Nib, I am not envious of this project at all, it seems like a lot of work. Honestly if it's feeling a bit heavy don't include me, I won't be offended, honest.

Mustang - I've already got two ideas for your robot, so at least one of them is going to make it in! This project is going to be a lot of work, much more than I had originally anticipated. I'll finish it eventually, but it's going to take some time to design all of these robots.
Buckwolfe - I wasn't sure if you wanted to be included! I'll try to fit you in.
earthwormadam - I'll see what I can do.
MetroidZoid - I used to have a bunch of Zoids but I tore them apart for kit-bashing purposes. Not a good idea. Why did I destroy perfectly good toys to make terrible ones? It makes me sad.
crawdaddio - Glad you like it. I'm trying to be creative with all of the robots, but there's definitely going to be some robots that fall into existing categories.
Nibcrom, if I can get my gf's digital tonight, I'll post a picture of my Dibison. See, me and my brother were both into Zoids, but he treated his like crap. So as I'm moving out of my parents house and he's moving into my old room, we're cleaning out stuff and he gives me his misc. Zoids parts. Now my Dibision has two of the Command Wolf's cannons, one on each side, and various missiles and shit everywhere else available.
If this were a real Zoid, it wouldn't walk ... it wouldn't need to! Bwahaha ...

Nonono, a giant mechanical blunt, walking around on stubby legs, obliterating people with a hazy beam. Entire people become bathed in laziness, and pizza parlors everywhere are inundated with craving patrons. Entire worlds fall before this extraterrestrial mechanization!

Thanks for the feedback ManonvonSuperock. At first I thought you were talking about rectangles with rounded corners, which I prefer not to use. But I really like that tv-screen idea. I would have never thought of that. I'll try that out when I'm done with this story line. Thanks!
The line art leaves a little to be desired, but I feel the lower saturated colors and your lettering are both strong.
When you're dealing with word balloons, try giving them more of a "tv-screen" shape than an oval.
Alright, so I'm trying to do this tv-screen shapes but I'm not having much luck in Photoshop. Does this have to be done in Illustrator?
While I'm asking, it's probably better to do all typing in Illustrator, but for the Web Photoshop works just fine. Is the comic book industry using Illustrator for word balloons and type and Web artists are using Photoshop? Gabe seems to use Photoshop for everything and he does both print and Web. Is Dark Horse redoing all of the lettering in Illustrator? Nibcrom cornfused.

The TamBot will start to destroy us all- but it will never finish
This thing is the best thing, eva
Nappuccino - You are correct.
Mustang - I'm not sure why, but Tam is definitely going to be huge. It's the only thing I've decided for sure!
CyberMonkeytron3000 -
Who am I?
(I can't see myself in those sketches but I'm sure I will all be fine......)

Anything Zoids related makes me habitually squeal ... just a little.

maybe.
You can, of course, skip any of those steps
I referenced T2 to see how many times the T-1000 knocked on the Voight's door. :P
