Judges are less restrictive and breaking the rules isn't as big of a deal I think. It's a good game but the story battles get too easy.
you get a buff chosen at the start of the fight (like double ap, or speed boost) which goes away when you break the law. You also get more stuff at the end of the fight i think. And if you break the law, characters who die cannot be revived for the remaining duration of the fight. This is pretty much better than the stupid law system of the first one.
As for difficulty, a lot of the cheese builds from the first game are gone. No assassins with a 70% chance to kill instantly who get like 3 turns before everyone moves once, or archers with 95% accuracy due to concentrate, and the game withholds a lot of the really good skill items until the late game.
Though you can use Seeqs, the ranger class, mirror item, the item boost skill and a x-potion to deal 999 damage every time to any enemy
FFT is objectively better than FFTA, I understand that
But what about FFTA2?
FFTA2 is way better than FFTA, but FFT is still best
also, more people should have played wild arms xf for the psp.
What was the story like in FFTA2? Was it orphans being warped into a book again?
Along the same lines lostwords said; Luso is forced to spend the last day of school before summer vacation cleaning up the school's library. On a table there, he finds a book only half-filled, ending with a question asking for a name. Luso decides to be a little smart-ass by writing his name in the book only to get sucked into Ivalice (the real one, a couple of years or so after FF12:RW), right in the middle of a monster hunt between a King-Kong-sized cockatrice and a clan run by a new Cid.
Despite what people say, there is a plot. Like I've said before in the thread though, while it's not standard FF-epic, the game makes up for it by the rest of the stories you find completing the rest of the quests in the game, more then a few connecting in proper questlines.
The problem with both FFTAs was that the original was unashamed about being brutally hard and a complete cock at points, while the others were just too easy.

I can only speak for FFTA2 but I think it has too many damn classes and a shitty party expansion system.
For the record, the characters in FFTA were not transported into a separate fantasy world. The real world was transformed into Ivalice, and you even see several people turn into monsters.
So, not really dickish to want to undo that. Pretty damn selfish to say "I don't care if my neighbor is a rock now, at least I'm feeling better."
I think it's easy to make Marche out like a bad guy considering how some people would like to hang out in a FF-like world. Ok, maybe not FFTA's version of Ivalice and the growing number of Laws, but...
"I have everything I could ever want!"
"Fuck you, I'm taking it away"
"Big Brother! Big Brother! I can walk again!"
"Don't get used to it because I am blowing this fucking fantasy world the hell up"
Don't forget about his best friend finally getting away from her (implied) alcoholic, abusive father! But no no we can't have that, this world isn't REAL!!!
Damn, FFTA2 had some really good art to go along with it. I wish that Squenix would release more art books alongside their products like they did with FFIX.

But currently I have no other TV to play it on other than my shitty 15'' from 1980
And I cannot find a good converter to connect my ps2 to my 24'' monitor
YPbPr to DVI is not a popular converter

I hear it practically doesn't have one.
but you can't play it without playing the first one first! all your characters transfer over!
only he ain't a complete dick
I'm guessing the game still has judges, right? Are they less restrictive?
Oh, and I remember the blue mage class had a skill that took damage from MP rather than HP. Is that still in? Because that shit was BROKEN.
from what I remember, he's like "awesome! a fantasy world where I can be employed to hurt people and steal things!"
and the whole "going home" thing isn't addressed that much

Let's Play Final Fantasy 'II' (Ch10 - 5/17/10)
Mewt's gonna get irritable as shit
Additionally, FFTA2 is balls easy.
Marshe was not a dick.
He was just the only guy who wouldn't abide living in a fantasy world.
Perhaps that just makes me a dick, though.
So what
That's fucking life, assholes, and they wanted to run away from it. Marche was the only one in the group that wasn't a cowering vagina.
So, not really dickish to want to undo that. Pretty damn selfish to say "I don't care if my neighbor is a rock now, at least I'm feeling better."
