I have a hard time choosing between Uncharted II and Batman for game of the year - But there are still a lot of games that came out this year that I wont get to play until Christmas, so that may change.
As far as movie of the year goes, I want to give it to district 9 - it was everything I wanted to see from a sci fi movie. However Inglorious Bastards left a constant smile on my face.
Alternate category: Best comedy of the year is definitely the hangover

I think Avatar will probably end up being my film of the year, most likely
Also, biggest disappointment of this year was Brutal Legend, hands down. So awful.

Man I really need to start working so I can purchase more games.
I'm only getting MW2 and DA:O for chirstmas, because Mass Effect 2 among other things comes out in January, and I haven't even been able to get around to Arkham Asylum yet.
Also haha, The Force Unleashed 2.
And I find myself not very interested in Halo: Reach.

I want to do with you
What spring does with the cherry trees.
Seems like a lot of people are giving it a hard time because it's a story that's been done a few times before, and that James Cameron is getting a "free pass" based on his previous works.
I would argue that, because it's James Cameron, people are unfairly expecting more based on his previous works, and aren't content with a tried-and-true story simply told in a newer way.
well, it gets kind of repetitive, the physics were neat but kind of glitchy, and there was at least one part of the game that completely fucking sucked, that being the "wrest the star destroyer from the sky" part.
also if you like Star Wars at all it sort of tried to insinuate itself into canon
and by insinuate I mean blow a fucking hole in the wall and say I'M HERE NOW DEAL WITH IT
The gameplay is God of War-lite but without all the cool setpieces. The camera can be pretty problematic at times. It can also rely heavily on QTEs, but I'm a weirdo that loves those things so that was a plus for me. Level design was damn boring.
The story ties the prequel trilogy to the original trilogy, so that's a plus or minus, depending on how far apart you think those two should stay.
My main complaint with the game is that I had a lightsaber and it was still taking me multiple hits to take down lowly Stormtroopers. I know having a "real" lightsaber game with one hit kills and limbs flying everywhere probably doesn't translate well into gameplay for most people, but...damn, I'd have no problem with it whatsoever. Give me that chance to turn a crowd of Stormtroopers into white-armored limbs and I will take it.
Force powers were pretty neat though. Reminded me a lot of Psi-Ops, if you ever played that (you should have).

nah the hangover was good but
comedy of the year?
nahhhh
Modern warfare 2.
e: actually I think I Love You, Man came out this year which was better.
funny people
I'd go as far as to say funnier than hangover
Inglorious Bastards is a pretty damn hard movie to beat for best of 09.
Then again I have not seen the road, but I have seen up, paranormal activity, and district 9. they are all good contenders
Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
Me too
It has jetpacks

But since this is James Cameron, I will reserve judgement on it until I see it

It still wasn't very good, though.
90% fresh on rottentomatoes
And 100% from top critics, actually.
Still, it's pre-release, and averages tend to go down on release day, but I wouldn't expect it to go down too much.

the first one was an enjoyable game with some glaring flaws and if they clean those up it'd make a hell of a fun God Of War clone
and while I could just play god of war, that doesn't have lightsabers.
I didn't do secret satans
I hardly deserve my christmas name for sitting around and playing with my prick do I
that was a rumor, like, a year and a half ago
actually not a rumor, they did confirm they were messing around with it, but they didn't say it would definitely make it in
one hopes that it'll at least be in the next burnout
which might be awhile since those guys are doing a need for speed game
Big Surf Island was probably the coolest piece of paid DLC ever. The free bike DLC was just wonderful.
Probably the only non-PS3 exclusive I ever bothered getting a Platinum in.
I havent tried the game yet

EDIT: Oh, beaten hard
it really wasn't too bad, a lot of guys like to poop on it but I enjoyed it enough to play it all the way through
Henry hatsworth in the puzzling adventure
games of the decade
-Paper Mario TTYD
-Smash Bros Melee
-Super Mario Galaxy
I will pick this game next tuesday along with mirror's edge and ODST
It would consist of Uncharted 2, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and three other games that I'm not sure of yet.

there should be a demo of it on live
I'd say play that just to see if you're down with the basic gameplay
but if you already played that and enjoyed it I don't see why you wouldn't like the rest of it, especially for how cheap it is now
It couldve been so much better, and that last boss was fucking retarded
The alien cameo was fun, but god damn they pissed me off
yeah, I'm buying it on 360, pretty glad I have that option
most definitely. i'm hoping they keep around some form of the gambit system from 12. no more turn based plz
Shit yes.
Buying it on PS3 because of the 1080p cutscenes, and also because I typically buy games on the lead console, if possible.
It's nice that 360-only owners will get a chance to play it as well, though.
