Wait, you guys reminded me of another candidate for game of the year

    Fucking SPELUNKY

I played so much of that brilliant game

Edit: High five Monkeyfeet, those would probably be my top 3 as well

I'd have to say Modern Warfare 2.

It's the only one this year I've put in a good amount of time into and will continue to do so for the next year.

Spelunky is great but I don't have a game pad and I feel like i'm violating some natural law by using a keyboard.

A magician gives you a ring that, when worn, will let you see the world as it truly is.
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.

So I need something to suck me in on mah pc

i just beat dragon age, mass effect, fallout 3, and all my other rpgs and I yearn for something else

    what do you guys reccomend

    what type of game

    whatever, man

my computer can run just about anything

    I was considering Tropico 3

    Tropico 3 is excellent

I would be playing it a lot more if I had the time

Far Cry 2 was also pretty fucking excellent, especially if you have a nice computer

it's nice to be able to take a break from the missions, hit a bunk until 5:30am, and then get up and hunt zebra with a machete in the glorious African dawn

or, you know, people. whatever floats your boat.

Fallen Earth has some good ideas.

In general, though, it's waaaay too buggy and not a lot of fun right now. Give it six months and it might be worth it.

Best PC game I played all year would have to be Fallout 3. A close second is Batman, followed by Borderlands. For my netbook the best game would be Plants vs. Zombies, that game is surprisingly fun! For 360 it'd have to be Eternal Sonata. The battles in that game are just plain awesome.

    5) ...Ghostbusters

Seems like a lot of people are giving it a hard time because it's a story that's been done a few times before, and that James Cameron is getting a "free pass" based on his previous works.

I would argue that, because it's James Cameron, people are unfairly expecting more based on his previous works, and aren't content with a tried-and-true story simply told in a newer way.

    Wow, this post right here.

Game of the Decade: Halo 2

    Movie of the Decade: Spider-Man

I'm sure if I tried real hard.

Spider-Man 2 was a better movie than 1, 3 was horrid, but I really liked how bright and colorful the original Spider-Man was.

Willem Dafoe was fucking wonderful and immediately elevates it above most other superhero films

When he showed up at the end of 2 I literally cheered in the theater

In terms of video games I think Batman Arkham Asylum would get Game of the year.

Edging out Uncharted 2 and Unblocker for the iPhone.

Maybe unblocker because the trial version of that has over 800 puzzles and it's free.

I was really impressed by Iron Man, a lot more than I thought I would be, as the trailers did nothing for me at all.

Then when The Dark Knight came out, I declared it as better than Iron Man.

I'm not sure if I still think that, but I know that in the year and a half since, I've rewatched Iron Man plenty more times than The Dark Knight.

To me the Dark Knight was simply awesome. Except the whole Batman's voice being like a continuous constipation or something. Besides that, it beat out Iron man.

Can't wait for Iron man 2 though!

The Dark Knight felt that it went on too long for me.

It would have been better if it was about 40 minutes shorter.

Not sure what they would cut out, maybe Dent's revenge?

I think The Dark Knight is probably better on a technical level (although oh god why did everyone speak in monologues), but Iron Man is way more fun to watch.

Dent was actually my favorite part of the movie.

I would have just found a quicker and more satisfying way for Batman to take out the Joker than that stupid electric visor he had that impairs his vision and yet he doesn't take it off for some reason

Really? Because after the joker got caught the first time I was expecting the movie to end. But when it kept going I literally shouted "YES!" in the theater.

I keep wondering who the hell the villian in the next one will be that matches this psuedo-realistic style of the new Batman movies and I just can't. Like Catwoman MAYBE...I dunno what the hell they're going to do. Just get Johnny Depp to play the Joker maybe.

I bet halfway through preproduction they decided they couldn't add Dent and not Two-Face.

See also: Spider Man 3(except TDK got Two Face right)

I liked TDK, but I don't think it was the best superhero movie ever or anything. For me, that's X-Men.

As for the next Batman movie: Bane. Done right.
