    Woo Texas

They are really fucking good this year. Now that they've won at Kansas and A&M I know they can win anywhere.

Fredette looked amazing against San Diego State and if he can put up big numbers in the tournament I'd say he's a lock for the top 10. Top 5 depends heavily on who else declares and the result of the lottery but I doubt he'd get past Cleveland, Jersey, or Indiana.

the sad thing is no one will ever really care

Texas has never won the Big 12 tournament. With the teams he's had, that confounds me to no end.

"Jimmer gets injured in the Mountain West Tournament, BYU wins NCAA Tournament without him" would be the only way I would support that

Mostly because I would look forward to watching the movie version of it

Also if Jimmer could get injured versus Wyoming, and forever immortalize this year's Cowboys team, that would be swell

Let's see, uh, it's March, so hopefully at this point 3 weeks from now our coach gets fired?

That's all we're really hoping for at this point.

Any rumors on possible replacements? Sad that Hewitt could never convince all the talent he recruited to stick around.

And, hey you could have it worse, from Jeff Bzdelik's Wiki page:
On April 13, 2010, Bzdelik was hired as the 21st head men's basketball coach at Wake Forest University. He replaced Dino Gaudio, who was fired after three seasons.

Though he will likely go down as the worst coach in Wake Forest basketball history, Deacon fans can take solace in knowing he runs a great practice, knows x's and o's, and personally makes sure each player wears their socks appropriately.

I will never understand why they fired Gaudio for the man who led Colorado to a 15-16 finish

Yeah, Gaudio getting fired was a total headscratcher to me as well.

The only rumor I've seen for a Hewitt replacement so far is Tubby Smith. Personally, I wouldn't mind getting an effective (and, likely, cheaper) proven mid-major coach. While Hewitt is a great recruiter, the feeling is that anyone should really be able to recruit at least adequately in Atlanta. It's funny you mention the Bzedlik thing, because one of the main knocks on Hewitt has been his game management and offense - in other words, most of the fanbase feels we need an X's and O's guy.

Really, Hewitt getting canned is a strong rumor, but still one nonetheless. Due to the absolutely stupid contract he got under our previous AD, it will cost $7 million to buy him out. We're also renovating our arena, which will take a year starting after the season so we will have to play off campus next year. Our AA is also still paying Chan Gailey's buyout.

big game between bc and virginia tech tonight

win and they've got a good chance of making the tourney

by far bc's best showing in an acc game this year

provided they don't lose at home to an abysmal wake forest team i think this win may mean a tournament berth

i can't believe how well donahue has done in his first year, and with absolutely nobody who can play inside

    ugh, god damn it illinois

they have no ability to finish, they could realistically have wins over both purdue, ohio state and texas this year, and instead they're on the bubble, losing to indiana and illinois-chicago

there's a lot of talent there but they seem to be pretty dang incompetent

I think we should talk about how the same UCLA team that managed to lose to Montana earlier this year can lock up a share of the Pac 10 regular-season title by winning out against the Washington schools.

    This is hilarious to me.

The Pac-10 is a terrible basketball conference?

Mostly it's due to the absurd reffing, I think

The Pac 10 was actually a really good basketball conference a couple years ago, but they had a bunch of people across the conference leave early for the draft. That more than anything probably hurt the conference, but the top three teams are getting stronger.
